We had seen images of a still to be revealed MP Cliffjumper in green plastic as a test figure and properly coloured for vehicle mode. Well now we see a coloured sample of his robot mode. This is painted as is the case with many samples and we are still unaware of whether or not it will be entirely painted plastic or red plastic in the end, or even if this toy will be made for any of us to buy. But still, we wanted to share the images of the process. We rarely get to follow a toy's journey like this so let's savour it. While the alt mode looks full of gaps, this is still the test phase, so it's the time to iron out issues. What we notice here is that it is a different face from the one we saw before (also below) so it could be that this is one of the other faces this figure comes with. the chest does appear to be mistransformed, you can also compare that to the unpainted sample.

I like the head sculpt. I can't seem to find two pictures that look enough alike for a consensus. But is the spoiler supposed to sit on his chest like that? As it seems to be missing from the prototype.

It’s that Bumblebee 2.0 all over again. I’d much rather prefer a more realistic alt mode, I think they could still pull off the deformation/“chibi-fication” and deliver a solid robot mode like the original MP Bee. This shift in aesthetic to viciously G1-screen-accurate only works for some of the characters.

#-o Didn't read that part before... Nevermind.

I know we can't gauge the scale from these images but with the way the wheels sit in his Bot Mode chest, it would suggest he is tiny. I wonder if that will accurately be reflected in the price... :P

aa companies greed and jumping on anime aesthetics. “yeah we will make even more money if we take all the anime cues especially what makes the anime flawed”. i used to hate the 80s comics when an artist who clearly out of there depth and could only draw human hands would, make transformers look like people at cosplay in cardboard boxes wearing laytex coloured gloves. Even when they added rings at the joints that didn’t help much. The one thing I loved about the bumblebee movie is that they did how i imagined a robotic face that wad able to convey emotion, with all the small movements a face makes without relying on some liquid metal technology, as the less human the solution looks the better. I still want humanoid form as that is what evolution has designed, aliens will have a similar form to us if they live in an environment which is land based and like us teansformers are social and have similar needs. But constantly making up technologies like batmans utility belt looks wrong, it may wellcome true, but mu head doesnt believe it yet.
I hate these soft human anime faces, why isnt all the body fluid if they have that tech.
Don’t they realise anime form was liked so much becuase, the toy in the box disnt look like what the drawing was telling us it should be.
Now we can have toya that look like the actual no holds barred design. So much so that we have toys that revert to look like an actualy cartoon, now that is a point when anything is possible. So just make the mps look the beat they can be. Give them style, make them look beyond what we imagined, take them to a place where they are still what we recognise, but go forward, don’t make them into something we settled for becuase that was the best we had offered. Look at the anime movie, now that was getting closer to what i was hoping for, and they are using sat morning sketches come on, look at the comics look at what is possible, are they really thinking we would rather that anime style over the rushed budget morning show, those artosts could do better they had a deadline, this is masterpiece, and look at the prices wow

He'll be the same price as Bee 2.0

A quick search and that would place MP Cliffjumper between 100-150 (ironically, currency exchange doesn't seem to matter).

Just when I thought things were starting to settle down again price-wise, with MP Skids.

Blarg. Sorry, couldn't stand mp bee 2.0, and sadly CJ here falls into that same category. I appreciate what they are trying to do, and clearly I am not their target demographic. Wake me up when they announce the next mp beast wars figure.

I think the spoiler can be moved upwards to match the cartoon aesthetic, but even if can be, it looks like complete and utter dogsh*t, just like Bumblebee did.

I wouldn't even get the KO of this utter, utter failure of a product.

I don't know if they can do that. Isn't there a rights issue with Porsche, which is why they haven't dine Jazz yet? This is probably the workaround.

Porsche is owned by Volkswagen, which allowed Bumblebee to be made:

I don't get your point. The link you gave hasn't contradicted my post. Volkswagen currently owns Porsche, and VW allowed a previously "banned" character (BB) get the VW licence. Thus, there's just as equal a chance for Jazz to become a Porsche. After all, Mirage is getting a Porsche mode in the upcoming film (which I understand could just as easily be a separate legal issue to getting a toy license).

If anything, Hasbro could follow Polyphony Digital's lead in Gran Turismo 2 and just release Jazz as an RUF:

Wasn't there an issue with the VW licence which caused the so very limited release of Netflix Bumblebee?
(which was the only version of that particular mold)
Someone previously replied to a post of mine saying that PF Bumblebee would be the last release as a VW Beetle.

It seems strange that VW is giving out licences for cars other than the Beetle.
Could that be why we are getting non-realistic vehicle modes for MP on these characters?
Could it also be because VW has stopped producing Beetles altogether? (even the actual cars)

So many questions. So few or no answers to them :(

It's actually more complicated than VW owns Porsche. VW doesn't apportion the licensing rights to Porsche, Porsche does (or at least that's how it's worked for the last 10 years or so). Having sold VWs for a time, in training you have to go through a class where they explain the family ownership of VW and it's bought up subsidiaries and how a certain brother controls one company and another brother controls another company. It's confusing, frustrating and fascinating - but one thing the trainer did say was that the companies are notoriously tight with their licensing, and the Porsche owning brother might be the tightest of all.

VW owning Porsche is not relevant in terms of licensing. Licensing must ve obtained at the specific companie level. The Porsche license must be obtained individually from Porsche.
That being said, I think the Porsche licence has been aquired since one of the main transformers in the next live action film is a Porsche (but not a guarantee as we saw with Ferrari).

Then why not use RUF? It's a subsidiary of Porsche but seems to have some autonomy?

I would've thought the 'stingy with licensing' implication would cover that.
