It feels like ages but finally, Walmart.com is stocking their own prized exclusive, The Last Knight Deluxe Hot Rod. This has been a really odd road so far for this exclusive, with people thinking it would never come and him popping up on Amazon (not stocked). This news comes to us from fellow Seibertronian nycPrime, and you can click here to get your Hot Rod.

Be careful on Ebay folks. There are a lot of Cogman's being sold for cheap from canadian users who have never registered and have no feedback, and there are like 10 or 15 of them. If someone wants to order from them, please do, but be careful, this has scam written all over it

I'm gonna hit the Wal-Marts today around me. I plan to get two! one to keep as original, one to open and buy repro-labels from toyhax to dress up with G-1 Style flames!
The deluxe scale works perfectly for the MP version stickers!

You know, when I first Saw Hot Rod and saw how awesome his deluxe looked, I was like this with my Coffeee!!

I knew right there as I was wiping up, I have to have HIM!!

Well, now that you mention it.. I did find this on Twitter from DaimChoc Reports feed (incidentally, Watching his page is good for news and special stuff Transformers related)
https://www.facebook.com/DaimChocReport ... =3&theater
I am not sure if this is just a heavily modified version of the Deluxe, or a Third Party or KO.. But if it's a small conversion.. I would do it! It looks primo and sweet! The chest doesn't look like the standard deluxe.. Is that a TAKARA TOMY Custom? Anyone know what this is?? It says custom but you never know..

If that can be done with a deluxe that already looks amazing, Imagine what a Proper Masterpiece of him will look like?! TLK Hot Rod is quickly becoming a Favorite of mine..
Even without the heavy Modifications someone else did, look at the detail work on the face! For a deluxe, this mold is absolutely fantastic!!

Still can't wait to get Hot Rod. If we get more sightings of other characters, then I'll be as happy as anyone singing the 12 days of xmas (3 months away, btw!)
Posted by galvatron00 on September 28th, 2017 @ 11:37am CDT
That's true. I may modify slightly if only to match what I've seen in media (TV/movie/comic) like I did with Beast Hunters Optimus Prime from that TFP. I do wish he came with his weapon though..Quantum Surge wrote:I personally like Hot Rod the way he is. As neat as it'd be to add more color on him, I think the flame decals would look inconsistent with a dark Lamborghini. Sometimes, if I see the way a certain version of a character looks, I'd stick with that appearance; i.e. Movie Prime looks great with the flames and different positions of red and blue, but without them he looks off to me (doesn't look bad on TFP Optimus). BH Bulkhead is an exception since the Brawn esque colors and the different head give him a new personality.

Yea, I get that. To me, Movie Prime does match his flames. There were a lot of redeco versions of Prime in Red and Blue Ala G-1 esque style done with the Leader Class version for both TFTM and TFROTF, and then there were the ubiquitous Red and Blue silver repaints on the evasion from TFAOE. I do prefer the original Colors presented as well. However.. I think that black Lamborghini's can also come in black with flames..It's not like it hasn't been done already.. I just figure if I get two figures, why not try to G-1 it up a bit..

It's a heavy custom. I posted a video of it when I got my Hot Rod last week wishing it looked more like that far more accurate custom but even as is, he's a fun figure.
I'm tempted by the gun a shapeways user made but of course it adds more cost to a figure that wasn't particularly cheap to begin with. Still it really does add to the look of the figure as you can see in the pics.

Wow! That's a cool accessory! It looks fantastic! I may have to get that too! Might I add, what a beautiful Alt Mode too! Wow! This guy just gets better and better!
On a side note. Here is the pathetic Transformers display at my local K-Mart. In the left corner you can't see, there's a Hot Rod from the Head Masters reboot toyline..I've got the MP.. don't need that version. I plan to hit Wal-Mart on my lunch hour next.. only 3 miles from me.. The FRANTIC search continues!!!

Actually, I'd probably do just the Gold and red Flame for the Hood, and call it a day. Tho, by the looks of the chest, you will have to center it and cut to match the hood break lines. I wonder if you place it on altmode, and use a hobby knife, would it be easier to get cut correctly and centered???
I'd be interested to see if you do, do it.. how it looks and how you did it.

Sheesh! Finding a Deluxe Hot Rod at Retail is starting to look like Finding that exclusive Star Wars Darth Maul back during Phantom Menace! No where to be seen, and when it was found.. stampede and fan battles in the isles..
Not saying Hot Rod's figure is that hot, but I think if they did a Leader Class that looks a lot like the modified version we already saw online.. we could have a Cabbage Patch store riot around X-mas.. Give us More Hot Rod!! I will forever by a Hasbro fan if they did it like this!!

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Though even a flame like this looks a lil too 80s for such a modern car mode but it can work on a toy if not the real car. Not sure I want to 'waste' on my TR Hot Rod stickers on TLK Hot Rod when I like how TLK Hot Rod already looks (though I may paint over his red with the slightly more orange hue seen in the film). I just like black and orange-red for some reason.

Leader? :O Bit too big methinks. A lil guy like Bee got that only cos he's Bee. Hot Rod hasn't got that kind of recognition and popularity and we need Leader class figures of those who neeeeeed it more like Blackout.

Yea, I suppose Leader is a bit premature, unless TF 6 kills off Prime like in 86, and they make Hot Rod Rodimus Prime again.. if that happens, then a Leader Class would be more appropriate. You're right tho.. Blackout desperately needed a Leader Class.. but that ship sailed long ago me thinks. I will be on the lookout for hopefully a better Hot Rod, and hopefully in the far far future (cause Takara is working on a 10 year release schedule judging by the Masterpiece trickles we get for the movie line) since we have to wait for the 1st 10th Anniversary movie Masterpieces to run their course.. I guess Hot Rod is going to be awhile.
Yea, Bee has Recognition.. but I have to say, I really love this rendition of Hot Rod.. Almost got the same giddy kid feeling I had back in the 80s with the original. Tho less Confliction over him, unlike the original only because Prime was killed.. still going to therapy over that! LMAO!

And the Human Alliance versions of Bee, Jazz, Skids, Mudflap, Barricade, Sideswipe and Soundwave.

skywarp-2 wrote: You're right tho.. Blackout desperately needed a Leader Class.. but that ship sailed long ago me thinks.
Still hoping that Movie Edition thing Hasbro registered may include such items. They could do at least two releases of it (Blackout and Grindor... maybe three if including the strange Chopter from the Tiny Turbo range cos I do like his green colour scheme). There's certainly demand from many collectors for a Leader Blackout mold but dunno if enough to support the costs of producing it. Still amazed Brawl got a Leader class figure so early on in addition to his deluxe.

Yeah I like him. He's nothing like G1 Hot Rod at all but he's still a fun character with a cool design (I've even grown fond of the face since my initial reaction to it) and slick car mode and colour scheme and i love the time gun (seriously hasbro why you no include it?) and his partnership with Bee in the WWII scene is one of my personal fave moments from any TF fiction.
DeathReviews wrote:I see the movies continue their penchant for making popular characters look very little, if anything, like they looked in the cartoons. Looking at this figure, it doesn't say 'Hot Rod' to me....
No one said characters sharing the names of G1 characters have to resemble them in any way. Prime and Bee are recognisably similar is various ways to the G1 originals (Prime moreso) probably cos they are so iconic in the franchise. And hey I often would get disappointed the cartoon models didn't look much like the toys even when they were supposed to be the SAME character. Some fans felt the opposite way having to settle for toys that didn't look like their fave cartoon characters.

If it helps, Hot Rod is at least far better painted than the lousy redeco of the otherwise fine AoE Bee in the TLK line.

Due to the notoriously spotty distribution of the Last Knight toy line, many collectors are looking for alternate online options to pick up the figures. We thought we'd alert you to one of these alternate options. The modern duocon is currently in stock at the time of writing for $50 USD, but it's probably not going to last long. Pick up yours now here!!
If you see this toy at physical retail anywhere, please report it to us under the sightings tab!
