"The same team that works on the (Rise of the Beasts) movie line is working on Earthspark and working on the animated film for next year". We then learn that the team mentioned is made up of four designers and that two are in LA. With a 2024 release schedule it would make perfect sense that the toys are already underway, but it was still fun to hear of it. We've had so little info on the film that this helps make it more concrete. Also, it gives us an idea of what we can expect from that movie's toyline since it would follow the same model as Earthspark and the Rise of the Beasts line of favoring gimmicks while also possibly having more standard offerings.
This also means that we will have 2 movie toylines one after the other, taking up shelfspace next to the Studio Series, Generations and Earthspark toys. So lots of Transformers product coming out way this year and the next.

There won't be any studio series for this film since it's all handled by the non SS/generations team. It's going to be one big toyline for kids, like Earthspark. Honestly, a bit confused by your comment since the article is all about the film having its own toyline.

That's What I said as well. It will have its own toyline instead of being shoehorned into SS yet again. It was just an observation.william-james88 wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:Considering that it's supposed to be a prequel, hopefully we'll see a lot more Cybertronian designs. And yes, I'm well aware of the irony of speaking as an 'adult collector' of what were, and still essentially are, childrens' toys

Whether it was TF Prime RID, or Cyberverse, Rescue Robots, or Earthspark. So it worries me to hear some people hinting that this upcoming film will also be 'for kids'. That may make good marketing sense. But as an adult collector, the notion of MORE kid stuff doesn't do it for me.

Certain lines specifically targetted at kids impressed me quite a bit, like Beast Wars, Cybertron and Prime. G1 had partsforming, lots of hollowness and severe lack of articulation so it was never one of my favourites aside from the really large bots, but it's become legendary, so I can't really say much for kids' tastes.
Also, FYI, that Legacy Cosmos you want is also a kids' toy.

Ah, my bad, I misunderstood, I thought you also hoped it would have its own line. Take care.

It might be a blasphemy to admit this as a G1 fan (NOT a "Geewunner"), but I didn't care much for the majority of TFs from back then. Prowl was my very first G1 figure, followed by Powermaster Optimus a couple of years later. Then I got a few more down the line and that's it. And engineering has come so far in the last 35+ years I have no inkling to go back and collect any of them. I'm very happy with modern day updates.
So does that mean I'm not *really* a G1 fan? I love the comics (my definitive continuity) and the '86 animated movie. I like the cartoon for what it is but I never saw it as a kid until the early 90s reruns. (I grew up in Eastern Europe in the 80s and we had 2 channels on our TV. Got cable in '92 after the USSR went down.) I do hope that this new animated film will be a prequel to G1, and my fat-chance hope is that it utilizes the War Within designs from Dreamwave. (Assuming Hasbro has the rights?)

On my end, I grew up with Beast Wars and since the 80s were not so long ago, I would end up with G1 toys given to me second hand. As a kid, I did not like the designs/toys which I would later learn were G1, at least the ones I had. They lacked articulation compared to the other Transformers toys I had like the Beast Wars toys and Smokescreen, which happens to be my first TF toy and that very same toy is my sig image.

I hope that whole projects ends up being fun, toys, movie, and all.
