Get it if you dont have all the millions of other Impactors. Funny how he went from having one toy to so many so fast.

I wish the reviewer had given us some close-ups of the figure though, so we could get a better look, and a lot of the details that might otherwise have been visible were washed out by the lighting. They were kind of ginger in demonstrating the articulation. I get the impression that the robot mode should be capable of some pretty dynamic poses, but they didn't show much beyond a standard T pose...
I appreciate the feedback. I do apologize for the lighting issue. My camera struggles with filming in that location and likes to go overboard when automatically adjusting for the lighting. Also, you're right. I should have shown a better range of poses for the toy. Definitely food for thought for next time.

I mean, "dynamic poses" is relative with the City Bots as it is. Which is why I keep them in City Modes and display smaller figures on them.

All this talk of copyright law is making my head hurt
All I know is we WILL be getting deluxe insecticons, somehow
If we got ransack Hasbro will make more
If they won't customizers will do It for them...

Customisers will do it for themselves, and maybe other people on commission but they'll be far from mass produced.

Thanks - hope it didn't come across as snarky in any way. We reviewers tend to rely too much on negative vs. constructive criticism .
I know about hypersensitive cameras. I myself need to upgrade my lighting systems, but I'm just so lazy...
How does the Legacy Metroplex balance when you put it in a strong pose? How's the center of gravity? Can you tilt the feet such that it will hold a pose if the legs/feet are planted far apart? I suspect the 'short' version of the bot is stable on his feet, just because he's more compact and has less that might overbalance him. Got any screenshots of a really good action pose where he's swinging his scooper weapon?

No no, see, the original G2 Laser Optimus from the 90s had no flames on its truck nose. The colors just faded from black to red in a smooth gradient:RodimusPrimeUkraine1 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Those are Movie Optimus flames.

Hasbro later gave the design Movie Optimus's flames when they made the Reveal the Shield version of Laser Optimus in 2011:
When they did the Titans Return version in the proper G2 Laser Optimus colors, they got rid of the truck nose's flames and put back the black-to-red gradiant:
But now with this Lagacy version, Hasbro has restored the flames once again:

No it's just a stylization of the front of the color split between red and black on the front of the origional.

Might want to check the post above mine.
Technically prime and hot rod were dual leaders in the Japanese only Headmasters anime...for all of two-three episodes till prime died again (wanting to give Goku from DBZ a run for his money on death counts)

I was going to ask, does red cog stay together better than the origional?

I got him earlier this week and opened him up yesterday.
He doesn't get as tabby as other Legacy figures, which results in a few bits being left a bit loose when transformed, nothing figure ruining, but not as good as Dragstrip.
Transformation is bog standard for a car. Lower legs open up and fold in half etc etc.
Putting him into leg mode involves folding the hood and windscreen up. Yeah, that's it.
Because he doesn't tab together tightly as others, getting him to connect to Menasor was a bit troublesome. There are two pegs at the top and two notches further down which all need to line up, the loosey goosey-ness (again it's only a minor looseness not anything major) made it a bit hard to get all four to line up.
Eventually I got him connected and ... yeah. He faces backwards. I know this is cartoon accuracy but for display purposes Wildrider and Breakdown will essentially not be seen and are virtually pointless.

Does wildrider add any stability to Menasor or is it just making the leg look more filled out.

He's a gap filler. All the stability is in the feet and ratcheted ankle tilts.

So you could basically stick Snicker bars on Menasor's limbs and it will achieve the same purpose as "combining" with proper limb gap-filler bots.
If Motormaster wouldn't be so expensive, I could create some crazy customs with that principle. Oh well. I'm still going to build the proper Legacy Menasor regardless.

We already knew it stands on it's own without cars attached. It's kind of a strange question.

Deluxe figures are $25 now, the extras are $5 which is actually a reduced price compared to the Centurion Drone and Tricranius which both added $10 to the then current Deluxe price.

Just because we know it stands on its own doesn't mean it feels completely stable. I can get plenty of my figures to stand for a picture without them feeling all that sturdy. That's not even considering how the stability would be affected with both car arms and weapons outstretched. Perhaps with car arms and no car legs, certain poses would be harder to do because figure would be top heavy. I'm not sure what you think is strange about the question

RED Cog is released as a weapons pack, similar to other packs we got in both Kingdom and Siege which have 1 deluxe that splits apart along with extra weapons for différent characters. Hence why he is that much.

Maybe its the plethora of pictures as Menasor I've seen either on Youtube or static photos. That it stands with no issues doesn't seem to be an issue (to me).

Yeah, seems like they've gotten Menasor into some cool poses. And I haven't paid too much attention to videos, so you probably have a better idea of the stability than I do. But I'm just wondering if fully combined mode adds some more weight in the base as far as the legs are concerned, and if the arms would make the figure top heavy without the legs. I could be wrong, maybe the shape of the feet creates stability with or without added weight, just wondering since smaller figures sometimes have the problem of becoming top heavy and toppling when upper body has more weight than lower body
Posted by Burn on July 30th, 2022 @ 6:47pm CDT
But the feet and ratchet ankles do a really good job of holding him in place.
Posted by Sowndwave76 on July 30th, 2022 @ 10:20pm CDT
He looks just as good if not a little better in-hand.
What I'm most impressed with is the engineering, and the quality...
Even though I hadn't read or heard of any real complaints with QC, as I was transforming Motormaster, and just a little while ago the trailer, I couldn't help but continuously wonder, "Okay, what isn't going to work right? What isn't going to lock, tab or connect correctly? How is this release going to be a letdown?". This was a very faint questioning in the back of my mind.
But I'm happy to report that I really can't think of a legit negative to this figure so far...
I absolutely love the look.
And yes, he is very stable... Actually, I'm a bit surprised at how stable he is. And all I have right now is Dragstrip attached.
But I doubt adding any other figures is going to decrease the stability...
As Burn said, I could see having the leg figures attached possibly adding to the overall stability by adding a little more weight to the lower legs.
Oh, here's one thing I don't really like-- the blaster is kind of lame.
I have no intention of using the "battle station" mode. Ever. So maybe it works best for that mode.
But for Motormaster or Menasor, it just doesn't work imo.
So IF I can get a cool blaster from a 3P, I may... Otherwise I'm good with him just wielding the included sword.
If you can count/call Menasor a single figure, I'm calling it now-- he'll be my figure of year.
Hands-down, no question.
I'd also say completing this set has surpassed the excitement I had waiting for SS86 Sludge.
Which for me is saying a whole lot.
If you've been on the fence about getting Menasor, I am highly recommending going for it.
Amazon has both Motormaster and Dragstrip available for the original prices ($85, & $23).
Imo this set is not to be missed.

You would be hard pressed to find anyone who disagrees with this.
I did see someone on Facebook had worked out a way to make it into an arm mountable blaster, unfortunately by the time I'd unpacked my Motormaster and put him into Menasor mode I had no chance of finding that post.

I complained before I got Motormaster in-hand that how much more engineering & cost it take to make the knees bending 180 degree (to accomodate both toon & toy looks)? But in-hand, I'm also impressed by the engineering effort made to the whole package, and I'm OK without that feature. Besides, cutting out the little extra plastic at the white Combiner Port will make the legs switchable, so the toy look is possible but that'll remove the knee bend so it's like the recent Lego G1 OP. THAT will be my display mode (cars in front), toon accurate will be my play mode.
As for the gun... I made some simple mod with Lego pieces and a 5mm plastic peg. Looks better IMO and it can be held upside down or vice versa.
Posted by D-Maximal_Primal on July 31st, 2022 @ 8:01pm CDT
The weapons are neat, but I feel like we needed another gun for the pink silencer and maybe something else to go with the arcee mold adaptor. As is, it ends up making a few less guns than I would have liked. Wrecker Bulkhead is not going to get as many weapons in his upgrade as I had kinda hoped he would once weaponed up
