Is it just me or does Takara do a signicantly better job with the decos than Hasbro? I already have a regular Animated Skywarp plus my own re-painted G1 Animated Skywarp. Do I really need another one? I'll have to see bigger pics but for now I'm impressed.
There's no question Hasbro's are more show accurate. Takara's are more 'G1' accurate. Normally, Takara arguably does produce better paint apps than Hasbro (IMO). If you're looking for show accuracy, however, Hasbro is truer to form (with the exception of the faction symbols, I believe). All a matter of taste and whether it's worth paying 2-3x the cost of the Hasbro versions.

Didn't they do that with a lot of Combiners, though? Like Magnaboss and Tripledacus?

To be frank, the twins don't seem large enough to qualify as deluxes. It'll be interesting to see how well these guys sell...

Combiners are usually sold together and individually, the exception being Superlink. It's not limited to Transformers, either. In any case, the twins will also be sold together as Set G.
