Thanks to a tip from fellow Seibertronian Emerje, we can report on a Takara Tomy Q Transformers Return of the Mystery of Convoy series-themed event in Odaiba, Tokyo Bay, next April 29th! You can find out more at the official website here (in Japanese) or over at Crunchyroll here.

The Decks Tokyo Beach shopping center in Odaiba, Tokyo Bay, Japan, is teaming up with Q Transformers: Return of the Mystery of Convoy in a promotional campaign beginning on April 29, 2015. The event kicks off with a special live event featuring Ryuhei Kimura, the voice of Bumblebee, and Kōtarō Ishidate, the director of Q Transformers.

There will also be special lottery style drawings for prizes, such as Q Transformers character goods and free passes to Joypolis, a Sega-themed amusement park located at Decks Tokyo Beach.

The collaboration campaign also includes a special theme menu for the Decks Tokyo Beach Dipping Dots ice cream store. Purchases of these desserts come with one of three collectible coasters, while supplies last.

Q Transformers: Return of the Mystery of Convoy is a 2015 Flash-based anime series that premiered on such websites as Niconico and Youtube. It features Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Lockdown discussing ridiculous things in a fashion very similar to shows like gdgd fairies and Hi-sCool! Seha Girls.

The campaign runs from April 29 until May 17, 2015.

I wonder what sort of event this could be. :-?

Oh! What would be both awesome and hilarious would be a live show of the three main characters (played by actors in full body costumes) doing what they do on the show in person, and including the audience in on the fun by reacting to the audience and such. That would be sweet!

That would be really cool and make for a good DVD/BD bonus down the road. Unfortunately this is probably just going to be a meet and greet, maybe shake some hands and sign some autographs type of thing. They are selling tickets to it so who knows?

Via a tip from fellow Seibertron.com member Sabrblade, we have confirmation that the Japanese web series of Q-Transformers: Mystery of Convoy Returns is getting a second season, starting this July 6th. The Animate.tv site has more information, here, but we have provided a tentative machine translation below. And don't forget to browse our very own galleries for the Takara Tomy Q-Transformers toys right here!

This time, the second phase of production of animation, "the mystery of the convoy that came back queue Transformers" was decided! We had already heard that the Q-Transformers 'Mystery of Convoy Returns' would come back for a second season - and here it is, via the YouTube DLE Channel, titled The Road to Winning a New Fanbase! If you understand JApanese, please let us know what is actually happening in the clip, but the general gist seems to be a congratulation on acquiring a good following for the bizarre show. Punctual as ever, the QTransformers season 2 episode 2 has surfaced on the YouTube channel for DLE. Sporting the catchy and pithy title of 'The Road to An Easy To Understand Identification Guide', the episode has Bumblebee and Optimus discussing G1 Autobots and Decepticons, for the benefit of Lockdown, too. You make it sound like the whole show is like this. The subject of this episode just happened to be the Transformers: Kiss Players line from 2007 (and the animation errors of the G1 cartoon). And a lot of what these four discuss about Kiss Players embarrasses and appalls them.

That's how he's always sounded in Japan. Japanese Starscream's voice isn't the same high-pitched weasel voice that English Starscream has. It's deeper, classier, and more of the voice of an esteemed ladiesman. Quite befitting that of a smooth-talker, which most Starscreams are known for being:

Also via fellow Seibertron.com member ScottyP, we have news from the Takara Tomy Q-Transformers site, mentioning the appearance of Arcee, Thundercracker and Skywarp in the upcoming episode 9, 'The Way to Even More Popular People (?)'. The three will be voice, respectively, by Kamisaka Violet Kenjiro Tsuda and Kentaro Ito - though does this also mean the three will receive their own superdeformed tinyformers? We'll let you know as soon as more information becomes available!

Well there you go. Japanese stores have only just been allowed to accept pre-orders, but BBTS doesn't have to follow the rules. But in Va'al's defense I've seen other sites also post that Skywarp and Thundercracker haven't been announced so I guess they've been easily overlooked.

Man, this show needs to be subbed so badly! The commentary it provides on the brand seems so insightful and self-aware (and hilarious) that we desperately need a proper translation of it.

I wonder, is it a "thing" in the Japanese dubs of Transformers for Starscream to sound more manly than slimy/shrieking?

Via the official site for the DLE Channel aired series of Takara Tomy's Q Transformers, we have a report of the second season of the apparently hilarious, insightful and overall well done shorts coming to DVD and Blu-Ray by December this year! You can find out more information on the site, but it seems that the set will come with added artwork, some behind the scenes and retailer exclusives paper prototype figures for Optimus, Lockdown and Bumblebee.
