What bugs me the most is the lack of engineering that went into this.
The waistpieces and the weird wings look terrible IMHO.

Any word on a release date other than January?
Posted by Cobotron on October 16th, 2014 @ 6:55pm CDT
I know there are only a couple of Headmasters in IDW, but I've been hoping we would get a bunch of them for a long time.
Think they'll do Chromedome?

I think he could look a bit more G1, don't get me wrong, I adore the IDW style, but I feel a boxier look would fit in better amongst the other figures in my collection

Nope. That's why Fun Pub was able to do Chromedome: Because Hasbro wasn't planning one.Cobotron wrote:Yes. Super excited.

Though, none of the characters known to be Headmasters in other fiction are Headmasters in IDW (save for Scorponok, but that was short-lived). But it did give us Sunstreaker as one for a while (until he went back to being normal).

Bummer. That Club one looks great but, he's not a headmaster. I guess the IDW situation explains why.
I feel like there are so many old gimmicks they could capitalize on. I miss the modularity of the old days.
But, that's just the old guy talking.

Well, IDW did previously try it's own take on the Headmaster concept, but only utilized Scorponok and Sunstreaker. Though, in this version, becoming a Headmaster was depicted as a ghoulish, torturous, and abominable process. After all, it is basically a form of decapitation anyway. It involved a TF having its head removed, stripped apart, and then hooked up to a computer system that would allow the head to remain in psychically linked to the body whilst said body would be operated by a human in a transformable exosuit that, after an intense ordeal of surgical implantation, becomes the new head, allowing the mind of the TF and the human to become one and enabling the body to be of both persons as one.Cobotron wrote:Bummer. Though, it also gave us this nightmare fuel:
More recently, however, IDW has reintroduced the concept via ancient Headmasters from Cybertron's past, but these are all newly-made characters instead of any existing ones.

On the other hand, Funpub is doing lio convoy for next year's freebie, so what takara happens to do just for takara clearly doesn't factor in, which says that while it's extremely unlikely, takara COULD do chromedome.
also, really hope these guys get stocked again at some point after the first run, because I really want that leo convoy. Also hope they get stocked by stores that aren't takaratomy mall, so I can actually order one to the US -_-

Plus, it has become increasingly rare these days for Takara to do something on their own without Hasbro's input or influence. The last new molds Takara made completely on their own were the Swordbots and Optimus ExPrime from Go!, which were original creations rather than based on any existing characters or designs.megatronus wrote:Nevermind!

You mean besides masterpieces, right?

Those are a different case, yes. I'm referring to regular figure lines, not the super-duper extra special high-grade for-collectors-only line.megatronus wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Plus, it has become increasingly rare these days for Takara to do something on their own without Hasbro's input or influence. They did briefly introduce Myskrion who was partnered with some one who looked suspiciously like Lione as well as giving us a totally new headmaster Thinkbox.
They do like killing headmasters off almost straight away I must say.

He was up high on something, a candle was burning a good 3 to 4 feet below him.
Who knew a candle flame's heat could travel so far.
Lesson learned. Candles and collections, not friends.

So, that's why those old toys were so noisy.

- In the Latin alphabet we have "Optimus Primal"
- In Japanese kana, we have コンボイ (konboi), or "Convoy"
Same goes for Rattrap: "Rattrap" in English, but ラットル (rattoru) or Rattle in Japanese. The next one will be Sky-Byte vs. ゲルシャーク (gerushāku) or Gelshark.

That is WEIRD!!! Which names do we use to refer to them officially? Have this ever happened before, with two different names written in two different languages?JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Of note: It seems that the Transformers Legends line uses both the US and Japanese names on the packaging. Observe:

I don't think so, this is fairly unique. Even back in G1/G2, each region (UK, France, Italy, Spain, Benelux) had their own names, but also their own packaging.
I countered this problem for now by formatting the release names as "JP Name" / "US Name" if they're different. Thankfully, it only applies to the three I already mentioned: Jetfire is still "Jetfire" in Japanese.

Ya I never liked the mouth hole, even in the show, and the weird demon mask thing was so strange and cool. Mine fell off and was never heard from again.
I was hoping this release would be the original so I could get a fresh one with the mask. My old one is getting a bit rickety, due to the fact that I love him so.
I get why they're releasing this one though, show accurate and all.
Just glad folks will have the chance to get him if they haven't all ready.
He is one bot everyone should have in their stash.
