First released back in 2015 as the Titan Class for the Combiner Wars line. This toy also saw an SDCC release with a different head and some minor deco differences. It was also retooled by Takara and released under their Unite Warriors line. That release was more expensive however.

It's a nice alternative I guess for those that missed out, also goes well with the Siege Omega Supreme reissue (I wish they would have reissued Metroplex back in 2017 when TR Trypticon came out , but that is all moot now...)
I am happy with the UW Version I have, and the scaled down KO Taikongzhans that goes well with all other CW/UW/PotP/Selects Combiners. Honestly, if I didn't have this now, I'd probably still shell out the cash for the UW version, but that's just me.

Well, actually, Takara at least did reissue Metroplex to accompany Trypticon. Back in January 2018. I understand why Hasbro didn't - one Titan on the shelves at a time seems to be stretch as it is, never mind two. And Pulse wasn't really set up at the time.o.supreme wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:Did you miss out on this Titan? Did you manage to secure one all those years ago? Well, if this uses the original Hasbro toolings for the Constructicons I can't say I blame you.o.supreme wrote:I am happy with the UW Version I have, and the scaled down KO Taikongzhans that goes well with all other CW/UW/PotP/Selects Combiners. Its not cheaper. Its the same price for the exact same toy released in 2015. It shouldn't cost more. If it did have a markup, yes that would be a cash grab. This is neither a mark-up or a good deal, it's just normal price.

Lol I figured someone would jump on what I said to put a negative spin on it. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.
The way I see it, it costs them more to remanufacture the item this time around since they aren't producing it in quantities as high as the first time around (it is just a limited reissue after all), so they could have easily marked it up $20-$30 amd many people would still buy it since that's still much better than paying $300+ for this on ebay. It's alright to compliment Hasbro on the things they do right, not just accuse them when they make a "cash grab" move.

Just curious what do you mean by "better". I feel the CW pretty much nailed the look of original series accuracy, but with modern engineering (and UW did THAT one better). and the recent SS was pretty accurate to the RotF film, and the modern look of current construction vehicles. There are so many 3P Devs out there, as you said I cant see TT/Hasbro taking the time and effort to engineer a new one, if so it would neither be accurate to the toy, or any media representation, so I apologize as I'm not exactly sure what you are hoping for.

I think that when he was designed, the designers placed priority on the combined mode first, then went to the vehicle modes (Since they combine in vehicle mode) and finally the individual robots. From what I've seen, the UW version paid more attention to the individuals, but otherwise the only thing that makes that version superior is the paint.Munkky wrote:I'm taking this reissue announcement to mean that Hasbro aren't planning on making any new G1 Constructicons for a while, which is fair enough, we just got new toys od all of the Michael Bay Constructicons so it's not like there's been no Constructicon love recently. I already have Combiner Wars Devastator and am more or less happy with it, but even so, an all new Devastator with better robot and vehicle modes for the individual Constructicons would be much appreciated.
I'm glad that people who missed out on him don't have to pay ridiculous aftermarket prices for him. I owned him for a few years but got bored with messing with him and even looking at him. The fact that he wasn't in scale with the other combiners and his Mixmaster foot was so small always bothered me a bit as well. I ended up selling him a while ago for the price I got him for.
Hopefully the next iteration will consist of 6 deluxes instead of 6 voyagers.

The Taikongzhans KO is this exactly. CW scaled down to deluxe size, it looks great with the other CW/UW/PotP/Selects Combiners. For a KO it's also one of the most durable I've handled as well.

No loss of structural integrity due to the smaller size? Also, what version of the joints does it use: CW or UW?

Its CW unfortunately, but still looks good. The plastic is not official quality, but for $40 USD, it's the best KO I've ever handled. Solid and no breakage. Other KOs have literally fallen apart as I Transform them, so this was a pleasant surprise.

All I'll say is that the only reason I didn't get that KO yet is because it has the same gimp Mixmaster foot that the Titan does, except smaller.

Yeah maybe I'll have better luck there. Not enough limbs out there...

I like Devastator but I like the Constructicons too and as individuals, they don't really look as good as other combiner limbs. With Orthia or Abominus, the individuals look just fine next to my other figures. But from the pics I've seen of the Constructicons in robot mode, they lack some 'quality of life' features that other, newer figures have.

This is why I collect, I love staging scenes and taking pics. A more posable figure wins for me and one of the Constructicons doesn't even have elbows. I've been without Devy and I think I'll be fine missing out on the rerelease.

Then dont get it and see if you can save enough for a unite warriors version.
The best individual constructicon is Scrapper but the Hasbro version neuters him by not giving him elbows. The unite warriors version lets him really shine. All other constructicons are improved (long haul is also given elbows) but Scrapper is where the big difference is felt. Plus they wach get individual weapons.
Anyways, if you like them as individuals, then the Hasbro version won't satisfy.

Yeah, OK. I see BBTS had a pre-order for the UW version dropping this month that sold out. I'll keep my eyes open there to see if they get any more stock in. eBay is also an option but I'd probably look for pre-owned if I go that route. I didn't realize the UW version had that many improvements!

An in between option you might be able to do is the Hasbro Version plus Perfect Effect kit PC-07. That kit gives you new forearms with elbows for Scrapper, Mixmaster, Hook and Long Haul, as well as individual guns for each bot. Back when he was first released (and TRU still existed in the US) this was a much better deal for me than Takara, as I was able to get Devy on sale plus %15 off for using my TRU credit card. I think the kit new was about $35, so I only paid about $20 more than the regular Hasbro price to essentially get a Takara-lite version (elbows and guns, but no extra pain apps or visor for Devy). The tough part would be finding the PC-07 kit nowadays.

Exactly this. I saw your comments earlier in the thread about the upgrade kit and went looking. The only person selling it is an eBay seller and it was almost as much as the rerelease of CW Devy. If I'm gonna pay that much I want it already assembled. That it must have sold out every time it was released because I can find other Perfect Effect upgrade kits for CW and PotP combiners but not PC-07.

The individuals are all deluxe size and scales well with all other Generations Combiners. That's why I have both. UW to go with Siege Omega Supreme and the other Titans, and the KO to go with all my other combiners... It is relatively inexpensive, and if you just want something to sit on a shelf with your other combiners, it is a very nice option.

However I have the UW version of Devastator, and knowing it is objectively better in almost every way (paint apps aside), I would still be willing to pay more than double on the secondary market for the UW version, rather than settle for the CW version, but I understand my opinion is nor representative of most. The CW Devastator is a great toy in and of itself, if the UW version didn't exist, I'd be happy with it. But if you are not really a fan of the character, then yeah, with $150 you can definitely get a small haul of other TF's instead, might be more satisfying depending on your personal tastes.
You really nailed valid points over all o.supreme! I sympathize for those that didn't have the means then and now for the UW version. And as you pointed out this all boils down to one's own personal taste and possibly what one is willing to burn in cost.
I'm a mad man and I got 2 UW (at 2 different times at great deals) just for the fact of wanting both the Constructicons individually and Devastator assembled and hell yes what a choice I made!

I have yet to open and combine Predaking that I was lucky to get but I know they will look so menacing when I get them side by side.
Aronjlove good luck and "choose...but choose wisely".

So as some of you may know, I have this long term crazy goal to get one of each variant of the Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet's (as there are 5 variants), as having them all will complete my combiner collection. Well, amazingly I've been making a little progress, but today I hit a snag.
I've received one of the Hand-Foot accessories that was misassembled. Left is misassembled HFG, as opposed to a correct one on the right. It looks like 2 tiny pins would have to be removed and reinserted to correct this. I'm just not sure it is even possible, and if so, what tool should I use? Any assistance is appreciated. Thank you so much.

This should not be a problem. Whst you need is a watch pin remover. It looks like a really thin ice pick. Get the millimeter radius that works with that particular pin.
