Hol-!

Big dude is big. A modern release of a figure that is actually larger than the original. I realize they are different size classes but even then OG Skyquake was chunky boo

I am excited for this

At first I didn't understand why they made Skyquake so big when he and his twin brother Dreadwing weren't nearly so big in Prime.

And then I remembered how tall G1 Skyquake was.

Yes, due to the size, this Prime Skyquake release feels like one of those "pre-decos", like Titans Return Sentinel Prime.

The Legacy line is going to be WILD next year. Hasbro is going all out with this line's mission to pull from a bunch of lines like Animated, Rescue Bots, Cyberverse, Japan's Beast Wars II and good ol' G1. Many fans were asking when Gears would show up and here he is, as a deluxe class. These listings for the 2024 line are all we have to go on at the moment, and we thank JTPrime17 for finding them.

The "Rock" listings seem to be that line's gimmick, like the Junkions in Legacy Evolution.

Meaning the gimmick is that Hasbro's finally going to somehow make use of the Rock Lords I.P. they got when they bought out Tonka, miniscule though it surely is?

They already put the name Boulder to good use over the past decade, even bought a media company of the same name. Will Aligned Continuity just barely live on through Rescue Bots: Geo-Geneology-Quest?

Or maybe next year's Core class will turn into musical instruments for a Knights of Unicron revival?

Finally, Gears gets some love. He barely saw a new figure at retail in 2014, and before then, it was 1984.

And I'm glad we're finally completing the Autobot Targetmaster team. Why we got all the Decepticon Targetmasters in ONE line sold in the same calendar year, and the Autobot crew is spread out over 6 years and (basically) three lines (Siege, Legacy, Legacy Part III).

This will be Sureshot's first figure in thirty-seven years, and second over all..... don't even get me started on Pointblank's Targetmaster partner having twice as many toys as Pointblank.

God I hope so. He's such a badass character and I'd love to get him along with other characters that came out in The Gathering comic. Especially if they make him beefy looking similar to how they got skyquake to look, albeit limited because he'd likely be voyager class. But a chonky polar claw would be great

I hope the rock gimmicks turn out cool lol

I'm most excited for Tazmanian Kid. I don't know enough about how he was in the cartoon, I just had the comic he came out in as Snarl- but there's like 75 bots named snarl so TK will do nicely. Very cool invisibility power, awesome alt mode, and cool design overall. Can't wait to have him with Leo Prime and Maximal Grimlock

I'm curious to see how the animated Bumblebee design will look with the generatiocation. I might pick him up or wait and hope they do a generations styled Prime universe Bee or even live action Bee. Headsculpt will likely be the deciding factor for me

Windblade hell yeahhhh very cool character

Chromia's cyberverse design is awesome too

Sureshot has a pretty dope alt mode, might wait and see with him too

I'm somehow not surprised at all that we're getting Sureshot since we got Crosshairs back in Siege, and then Pointblank more recently.
But I am still glad we're getting more of the lesser used Targetmasters!

Wow, they keep remaking my favourite toys from when I was a kid! First BW Grimlock, who didn't come out all that good, and now Snarl! What's next, Manterror and Drill Bit?

I never got any toys of the original cast as while Beast Wars was still current, only some very rancid knock offs I found around 2004 or so, and even then it was just Optimus Primal, Cheetor and Megatron. So I remember using non-show characters as surrogates while playing. Grimlock was Dinobot, Manterror was Waspinator, and Snarl was Rattrap. Point is, I wouldn't be surprised if Tasmanian Kid ends up being a partial or maybe even just a straight up redeco of Rattrap. And if things go that way, it feels like it'd sort of vindicate child me's choice of surrogate for Rattrap.

It's a shame he probably won't have his arse missile, though.

Happy to see a new Windblade. She sorely needs a good figure (maybe one based on Transformers: reactivate?).

Anyway, I found all prior figures lackluster. I'm disappointed that it's a deluxe instead of a voyager or even leader class... Something like remolding the recently released SkyQuake into an imposing windblade would have been cool.

That was actually my first thought, and I think it would be awesome. As for Tasmanian Kid, that is smart name use since "Snarl" is well... taken. I can see him being a Core Kingdom Rattrap retool.
Its nice how one of the producers thinks of all the show anniversaries. Although unlike the OG series, and TF:TM getting anniversaries every 5 years, and many releases, seems like the others get only a couple.

Metalhawsk is a celebration of Masterforce 35th. Leo Prime being a celebration of BWII 25th etc... I'm sure there are others.

Although these 2024 listings are very early and not complete. I hope we get a Big Convoy next year.

I know a lot of folks have been wondering when Gears would finally get a remake. Let's hope they do him properly!

Now that I think about it - Gears SHOULD have been the star character in "Last Bot Standing", just for the sake of irony.

Nothing pops out in that list for me, never was that into Gears so I'm not really getting the excitement level others are. When they finally announce Powerglide then we're talking my language!

And since it seems they're into redoing all the mini bots as DLX I guess I wouldn't mind them redoing Seaspray as it might fit in better than the Legends figure.

I am dramatically annoyed that Energon Megatron is only going to be Core sized, but heartened that maybe the Unicron Trilogy will get some additional love besides Armada and Cybertron.

I am TERRIFIED at how they are going to eff up Animated Bumblebee.

I think core energon Megatron is going to be the tank that goes with the larger Energon Megatron we would get as a leader.

I'll definitely get Animated Bumblebee, and even though I haven't seen Japanese Beast Wars I may pick up Tasmania Kid as well, because I had the original Beast Wars Snarl when I was little. I find it odd how Energon Megtron is only a Core Class, but I suppose we are getting Armada Megatron at the Leader price point, so it's not like this will be the only time we see Unicron Trilogy Megatron in this line. I'm not the biggest fan of Cyberverse and I'm not keen on Windblade as a character, but I might buy Chromia if she's done well.

I think the best part of those listings is how random Tasmania kid is on that list, though it's very exciting that Leo will get his squad it seems.

I will be curious to see how Animated Bee happens, given Prowl.

Rescue bots at last!

I am very happy that Cyberverse is getting Legacy love, and Windblade and Chromia will be more than welcome with my Cyberverse crew.

Skyquake looks so good, I am excited to get him. Still need to get Needlenose, the cores, and the voyagers from the current wave though.

Except that would be core-class Armada Megatron. If it's labeled as Energon Megatron, I would assume they actually went for Energon Megs (unless they did something stupid and made an abomination with the Armada altmode and the Energon robot mode).

Personally, I don't see a Core-class version of Energon Megs as precluding a bigger one, and I actually see some appeal in getting a "distance model" version. Additionally, I'm wondering if it's a pretool of a Core-class G1 Galvatron (who we're thoroughly overdue a distance model/travel-size toy of)

Re: Animated Bumblebee... It's quite possible they'll go the full Animated aesthetic. And even if they don't, it'll at least be a decent translation of the design if Prowl's anything to go by. It won't be a trainwreck like Bulkhead, where I think they were focusing too hard on...

It's funny you say that, because while Animated Bulkhead did use the transformation they used for the Legacy toy, the Prime Bulkhead didn't even has visible windows on his chest, just the doors with the windows seemingly retracted into the door where they weren't visible.

His animation model didn't have visible windows, but - as those pictures unambiguously show - his toys very plainly did. And I think they were looking too much at that for the Legacy version.

Sabrblade wrote:They said in a previous interview that all of the Animated figures would be G1-ified just like the Prime figures.
Well, it's possible they've changed their minds on that during development. But still, based on Prowl, they should at least turn out decently. And I'm still hoping for Leader-class Animated Starscream. Because G1-ified or not, it would be REALLY nice to have an accurately-designed Animated Starscream that wasn't a Legends-class toy without a proper pelvis. Most Animated toys did a good job on the designs, but Starscream's Voyager and Activators toys f'd up royally.

My thoughts on these reveals:
* Core & Deluxe Rock 1, Deluxe Rock 2: I wonder what these will turn out to be. I know the "Energon Monsters" turned out to be Pretenders.
* Tasmania Kid: I'd probably rather just get an original BW Snarl
* Animated Bumblebee: Hopefully it copies the design of Jetpack Bumblebee and is about the same size.
* RB Chase: *shrug* Not really interested, but will be interested to see what they do
* Cyberverse Windblade: Ditto
* Cyberverse Chromia: Ditto
* Gears: Now there's the business. That's a Minibot we've been missing an update for, the head turned out stupid on the last go so unlike the corresponding Swerve it doesn't pass muster. With this, I think we're good aside from the Throttlebots.
* Sureshot: Also looking forward to - at last the 1987 Autobot Targetmasters will be complete. Hopefully Hasbro will also reissue the Decepticon ones from TR, especially Slugslinger and freakin' Misfire (**** the eBay prices for him right up the-)

It would make perfect sense that the Core Energon Megatron listing and what is being referred to above is meant to be the tank accessory that the original Energon Megatron came with.

I think it would be awesome if we could get his gun/tank as its own figure that could interact with a later wave Leader Energon Megatron.

Can you care to explain how exactly that would "make perfect sense"?

Energon Megatron is a space jet with a tank accessory, not a tank himself, so why exactly would it make sense for a figure identified and sold as Energon Megatron... to be the tank accessory? That would be like expecting a smaller-size figure identified as Trypticon... to be Full-Tilt or Brunt.

LinaNui wrote:I think it would be awesome if we could get his gun/tank as its own figure that could interact with a later wave Leader Energon Megatron.
Yes, it would. And what would make sense, would be for that figure to be a core-class Armada Megatron.

The guy who is a tank, and who Energon Megatron's tank accessory is a downsized effigy of.

Bottom line, if the core class figure was the tank accessory I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be under Energon Megs' name (unless they did something really stupid and made a tank that turned into his robot mode).

Well, I don't think it's just SS86 Sweep that nixed that. I think it's SS86 Sweep together with the fact that they already gave us a Lazy Halfassed Fracas back when they did the Phantomstrike set.

It is true that the light blue on SS86 Sweep isn't really an exacting match for the original toy's light blue (Scourge's sticker details are ugly so I'm not counting those as "goodness" :P )

If that list didn't come from a reputable leaker I would say it was fake for sure! It's interesting that we're getting three Cyberverse characters that we know of and they're all female. Nothing wrong with that, just unexpected when they could do figures of Wildwheel, Deadlock, Alpha Strike (or BM Strika), Hammerbyte, Meteorfire, and the shark leaders. Windblade and Chromia are great, but there's nothing particularly special about their Cyberverse designs that separate them from their G1 counterparts unlike Arcee.

Anyway, love the list and plan on getting all of those. I have three BW Snarls (one I bought myself, one was a gift and one was from an auction lot), It's a great figure and I look forward to seeing how Tazmanian Kid turns out.

"Rock" is definitely a placeholder, there is no way they're doing Rocklords in the main line before doing GoBots. This is them trying to hide the next modular theme.

Now that I think about it, I wonder how a theoretical Legacy Leader or Voyager Energon Megatron will compare to the previous Takara and Toy R Us exclusive "Voyager" version? I mean aside from having usable leg articulation.

I wonder what Rock 1 and Rock 2 are...

Most importantly, of course, is Gears! Now, we just need a few more pipeline reviews for Windcharger, Seaspray and Powerglide to have all the 84-85 Autobots in modern form. We need Buzzsaw for the Decepticons.

1. Rock Lords? I don't know, TakaraTomy may be hesitant as they were featured in Machine Robo, both the toy line and animes.
2. Lithonians. Remember, they were originally conceived as living rocks, with the Greek lithos meaning "rock", "Arblus" being based on marble and "Granix" on granite.
3. Rock Bot. 'Nuff said.

Also, what is it with the thought of Gears being tied to Brawn?

We already got those in the Prime Wars trilogy. If you missed them, they (or at least quality bootlegs of them) aren't too bad on eBay price-wise.

He had knees and elbows.

It's just that the effectiveness thereof was limited; he could have done with thigh swivels and a waist swivel (which would compensate for the short thighs) to help the legs, and bicep swivels (as well as a secondary outward articulation joint between the shoulder box and the torso, and relocating the rotation joint more inward) to help the arms.

Thing is, we've got two "Rock 1" figures - one at Core class and one at Deluxe. If that means they're the same character, Idk that they'd do that for Lithonians.
Maybe it'll be Autobot Pretenders, just like the "Energon Monster" listings turned out to be Decepticon Pretenders. And we do need Metalhawk's crew.

No idea. Speaking of Gears though, I wonder...

...Will he come with a trailer full of potatoes?

I think the key phrase there is "modern form", those older figures aren't in the post-Prime Wars scale, they're all too small and need the Deluxe treatment. Especially Powerglide, he has to at least be as tall as his girlfriend (his robot one, not his human one).

Yeah, if the other lower-profile minibots are getting attention, Powerglide definitely needs to be upgraded.
Jelze Bunnycat wrote:what is it with the thought of Gears being tied to Brawn?
Both minibots that turn into truck/off-road type vehicles? Engineering could be similar or even shared, like Huffer and Pipes.

While the personalities are different, I always considered Windcharger just a knockoff of Cliffjumper.
So I'm not in any fuss to get him. Powerglide is at the top of my list though, with Seaspray a close second. Now that they're upgrading Beachcomber, if they hadn't I'd have probably just stayed with the Legends figures I have and went for a Powerglide on ebay.

We got several mini-bots who have been updated in Siege/Earthrise/Kingdom/Legacy style. That's not a compelling reason not to get the last three likewise updated in the next year or so.

Personally the only reason I'd collect the older Generations minibots is just because I enjoy legends class and to have their micromaster/targetmaster buddies, heh.
