Video of the Hasbro Pulse panel at MegaCon:

Sounds like the video missed the Liokaiser reveal part of the panel as the beginning of the video sees them talking about Liokaiser like they've already shown it off. They also keep mispronouncing his name as "Leokaiser" instead of "Liokaiser".

Sky-Byte is very articulated in shark mode, they wanted to replicate his cartoony "Muppet" qualities from the cartoon.

Heatwave is a "partial" of Legacy Bulkhead. The fact that the mold looks like it was intended for Heatwave all along was not intentional and was a happy accident. Comes with his axe and fire hose blaster.

Timelines: Hearts of Steel - 2-pack of Optimus Prime and Starscream

Second 2-pack consisting of Megatron and Bumblebee

"Transformers: Timelines" will be a new Pulse-exclusive line in which the same four characters will be released every year, but with a different theme centered around different time periods with different altmodes. So next year we'll get another different set of Optimus, Megatron, Starscream, and Bumblebee, and next year's theme for 2026 has already been picked, but they won't tell us what it is yet. This year the theme is the "Hearts of Steel" comic mini-series from 2006.

They hope to eventually get a fan vote going for what the theme for 2027 will be, so fan could pick what time period the same four characters will be in.

The goal is at least two releases each year, but it will always be the same four characters of Optimus, Megs, Screamer, and Bee each year. "But, if it does well, there's no reason that you couldn't see the rest of the Seekers in Legacy or anything like that." All Deluxe scale, too.

Space Bridge teases - all preexisting art, no actual toy pics all will be on display in physical reveals next month at New York Toy Fair:
  • Target-exclusive Studio Series 86 3-pack of Perceptor, Ramhorn, and Ratbat - Ramhorn is all new, Ratbat will have boosters, Perceptor will have some extra tooling to bulk him up to better match his animation design.
  • Devastation Troop-Builder pack - Elite Decepticon Ground Unit and Seeker, "partials" of Earthrise Runabout/Runamuck and the Earthrise Seeker mold, com with new weapons and heads.
  • Carnivac VS "Fistiron" - Got around the "Ironfist" trademark issues by just inverting his name, "we know what his name is supposed to be", no talk of what molds they use.
  • Sandstorm VS Slugslinger - "Handsome Face Sandstorm" is what they call him internally, it's the cartoon face with no mouthplate, did not talk about if Slugslinger is still a Headmaster or not
  • Cybertron Sideways - Got a big reaction from the audience, no real details given.
  • Cybertron Excellion - redeco of Cybertron Hot Shot.

Q&A session:

Liokaiser does have ankle hinges for enhanced posing.

When Polar Claw?!! "Eventually". He comes up every once in a while. It's always hard when they're not a mainstay character who showed up in a show. But Polar Claw is a definite possibility.

Evan confirmed that Carnivac will not have his Pretender shell, is a "partial" of TR Wolfwire, and will retain the Headmaster gimmick instead of the shell gimmick. He also "100% confirmed" that they fixed the major breakage issue the Wolfwire mold had.

General question about the design process for figures. A complex but interesting answer is given (watch the video at around 14:50). It's a case-by-case thing, but the whole process takes about 18 months.

Marauder Megatron is definitely possible. They did Wasp, after all. They did look at Marauder Megatron for inspiration when designing the Studio Series Bumblebee Movie Concept Megatron. They're always looking at that stuff that never made it to market and it's definitely possible.

No Centurion version of Hearts of Steel Bumblebee, but... "folks out on the internet will probably have you covered."

Steamboat Shockwave has a chance because it's something Mark wanted to make "really badly". At one point, he was trying to get it into mainline, but it didn't make sense with everything he had going on. What Timelines is right now is almost like a test, and if any of these segments do well enough, you can definitely see them dipping a toe back into those universes and timelines, and maybe then they'll start showing up more in mainline. There was a Prowl, there was a Ratchet, there were many great designs in Hearts of Steel that could show up again.

Question about Gamer Edition pulling from other games besides Devastation and the WFC/FOC games. Evan says it's possible and has been asked before about a Titan-sized Thunderwing from the Prime game, to which he both laughs but also thinks is a possibility. He also brings up the games based on the live-action movies and the unique characters those games had, like the movie games' version of Shockwave and Warpath. He even jokes about the old Commodore 64 game or the giant floating Decepticon shield boss from the Mystery of Convoy game.

Question about having to cut anything out of lines when creating them. Evan says he can't think of any specifics off the top of his head but does state that that has definitely happened. He does cite an instance where a character had to be cut once or twice because they couldn't get it to fit into the scale that they had thought was appropriate. Like something that was meant to be a Deluxe and couldn't fit as a Deluxe and so had to be a Voyager instead, but still had to wait until later because all the Voyager slots were filled up at the time. It happens pretty constantly. But there's usually a rough idea going into it, and it's when you think it can fit only for it to later be proven wrong that it ends up not fitting at all. But most things do usually see the light of day a little bit later.

Question asked about a rumor that Hasbro will be doing a Leader-scaled version of IDW Fort Max, possibly from the Armada Megatron mold. Evan confirms that that's just a rumor and doesn't know where it came from, but he thinks the idea would be great. They'd also have to do a Rung, though, since "everybody needs their therapist". But he'd like to dig into more of those IDW designs, "they're definitely on the table".

Joked about the DJD: "It's a little hard to sell into marketing about a character that turns into an electric chair, OKAY?! Just a little difficult!" Nickel's probably as close as they can get to doing another DJD character besides Tarn.

Question about a Studio Series Dispensor. "The Mountain Dew robot?! Ah, that's a licensing nightmare." LOL Definitely possible, definitely on the table. There's also some anniversaries coming up, and some earlier Studio Series movie characters might get redos since "they weren't done as well back then when they should have been."

Question about the Timelines fan vote, if it might add one more Autobot and one more Decepticon to the lineup. Evan thinks at some point in the future that's definitely the plan. He stans Ironhide.

Jokes made by audience and Evan about a Broadside that turns into a U.S.S. Flagg. "Oh, sure, it fit in a garage." Totally non-serious.

Question about making figures more customizable. Selects Antagony with the Scavenger head mentioned as an example, but they asked if figures could be more largely disassemble-able, like with less pins and more screws, to allow fans to color-swap parts between redecoed figures of the same mold. Evan says they don't really think too much about the customization market but takes it into consideration as something maybe can think about going forward. But he's pretty sure they wouldn't release something that is just "matte gray, primered, ready to go", but maybe that's something they'll look into. He's pretty intrigued by this question.

"More Mini-Cons, please?" Yes. "As we keep diving deeper into Armada, I think we owe you all more Mini-Cons." He thinks that's something they'll definitely get out to us. "Gotta get the Combiner Mini-Cons out there, at least."

If there was to be another new release of Cybertron Optimus Prime, it would probably be a new one instead of a rerelease of Siege Galaxy Upgrade. That's something that both Hasbro and Takara are pushing for, as they want to recreate the combining limb gimmick and the backpack gimmick. But it's not something to expect this year, but maybe some point in the future.

Question about the Thirteen toys, their designs and altmodes. Evan says Mark's handling the Thirteen and always starts with the Covenant of Primus book as it's his favorite lore book, but he also digs deep into the other versions of the Thirteen out there. There is a cohesive vision behind them. We'll get some this year and the rest next year. There's a lot of deep cuts for them.

Sky-Byte's gun only stores inside his mouth in shark mode. When not in his mouth, there's nowhere else to store it.

End of panel.

Here is a video of the Liokaiser part of the panel that was missing from the other video:

Unfortunately, the person recording kept the camera only on the panelists and ignored the slideshow images.

For areas that don't have Hasbro Pulse, select retailers will be listing Liokaiser on Monday. For the first time, even Brazil is listing this.

They consistently mispronounce Liokaiser's name as "Leokaiser".

Each individual bot is roughly 5.5 inches tall.

The terms they're using are "Chest Animal" and "Chestforce". For obvious reasons. "That's how we got away with that."

The decos in the renders are not final. They want to be animation accurate and there might be a deco update later.

The original Liokaiser had very little combiner kibble, so they wanted to recreate that as closely as possible. The only thing they had to add to make the combiner was the pelivs piece, everything else is completely built in and integrated into the individual figures, including the combiner head, which was a kibble piece on the original toy but is now completely stored inside Leozack. The hands are all stored inside Guyhawk, "Ellbat", and Deathcobra.

They HAD to call him "Ellbat". So, everybody just play it cool. If you say it real fast, it sounds like how it's supposed to sound. "It's in canon, now, he's British." The pose in the render is a reference to his hypnosis ability from the animation.

"Jaruga". This one was a bit contentious on how to spell the name, just because of the fun translations of L to R in Japanese. They shifted things around here and there, but they settled on "Jaruga" because Evan is from the Kre-O team and that's what they did back when he was on the Kre-O team. (NOTE: The Kreon's name was actually spelled "Jarugar".)

He turns into a dune buggy, but they didn't think that sounded cool enough, so they instead called it an "off-road race car".

Evan snuck in the "meme pose" for Killbison's render and no one called him out on it. He means this:

Transformers News: 2025 MegaCon Hasbro Panel Videos and Breakdowns

Transformers News: 2025 MegaCon Hasbro Panel Videos and Breakdowns

One of the combiner feet is built into him. One of the things they learned from Combiner Wars Predaking was about how the combiner thighs were built into them and that made the bots really chunky, so that's kind of the reason they made the separate pelvis piece.

They're really confident about hitting the 10,000 backers for this set since the previous HasLab hit a whopping 27,000 backers (seemingly ignoring the facts that the last HasLab was both an Optimus Prime toy and based on one that actually appeared on American television).

They were insistent about doing Deathcobra. In addition to making him a spare arm for the combiner, they considered going the Seacon route by making him a blaster for the combiner, but because he's so heavy they decided to make him a shoulder cannon instead. In arm mode, the helicopter blades can act as a shield, taking inspiration from other Japanese anime shows that Evan is a fan of (he doesn't specify which but acts like if you know, you know).

The electromagnetic nunchaku were very difficult to turn into a toy since they can take any shape they want in the animation. They're actually using the Masterpiece Megatron chain piece to make it a combining element, so all the pieces can go together to form the long version. Six pieces included and can all combine together so you can make it as long as you want. They all store underneath the vehicle modes.

Megacon had some beautiful reveals today for Transformers fans. Not only did we get the Haslab announcement but that LioKaiser is available to back now. The order only goes through after the backing period is over so placing an order now is no different than placing an order in two weeks.
But back to the reveals, we got a look at the 4 Hearts of Steel toys. They come in two packs of Optimus/Starscream and Bumblebee/Megatron. We also got a good look at Age of the Primes Skybyte (new mold) and Heatwave (based on Legacy Bulkhead). We have images of those below along with more images of Liokaiser, who will be the same size as Legacy Devastator.

We thank Vander who took images at the show and posted them on Facebook.

Via IGN @ MSN, confirmation that LioKaiser will be the next HasLab figure!

From the renders, it looks like the set will include not just the core 6 members of the team with their respective Breastforce Chest-Force animal partners, but also the first official toy of Deathcobra. The product images show Deathcobra forming a shoulder-mounted weapon for LioKaiser, and the HasLab page confirms that he WILL also be able to take Hellbat's place as the left arm.

The HasLab page is now live with a 45-day countdown and a price of $299.99 / £299.99. The estimated ship date is Fall 2026.

Per the Pulse page, the six combiner members are all listed as (distinctly small) Voyager scale figures at 5.5 inch height, with the combined figure standing 12" tall. The base set includes the 6 core members, with the additional Deathcobra figure being the first unlockable tier (at 13,000 backers). Liokaiser's Electromagnetic Nunchaku (16,000 backers) and the 3 display stands (18,000 backers) are the remaining two tiers.

Pictorial Review for Transformers Swapticons Wild Jungle Mission 5-Pack

Pixelmaster posted a pictorial review about the new Swapticon 5 pack what includes Optimus Primal, Apelinq, Gator Megatron, Skullcruncher and Scorponok.
We also have additional pictures from Cybeast.

Only set of Swapticons that came out in retail here. It goes for 199 HKD here (25.54 USD in the exchange as we speak), but for some magical reason there was a discount so I only paid 139 HKD (17.84 USD). As the gimmick suggests, this is just a kiddy version of the deleted Baboon-cat hybrid scene in Cronenberg's The Fly.

Megatron's gator head and Skullcruncher tails requires a one time assembly, and Scorpy needs to partsform his tail from his robot mode back to the bottom of his feet every time you "transform" him" (aka laying the toy downwards) from robot to half beast mode. The tail is molded in Maroon, with the grey being painted over and are in 3mm flight stand peg. The only articulation for these toys aside from the head are the arms that can swivel up and down. Apelinq is a hybrid of his original toy and the ROTB design (the arm blades are sculpted), whilst Primal seems to draw from the Beast Combiners art colors wise (or maybe the other authentics Primal). Aligator Megatron's head reminds me of Botcon Megatron from the Breakdown ?

The intended combination is (front to back) Apelinq + Primal, Megatron + Skullcruncher, with Scorpy unforunately third wheeling the couples.

The mechanism works by slotting the spring loaded heads together, then locking it in by rotating it with the 3 L locks on the sides and back. This means that you can combine them in the wrong direction.

Overall they are fun distractions. Recommended if you're a fan/ curious of the concept, but don't expect it to be life changing or be impressive.

TFW user Lazerwave has gotten ahold of the highly anticipated Studio Series Que from Dark of the Moon! He got a bunch of pictures showing off the figure in both modes, his accessories, and comparisons with the Takara exclusive original DOTM deluxe and with the other Studio Series Autobots! I got permission from him to share those pictures here as well.

He also gave a few notes on the figure itself, which I’ve summarized here:

- He gave Que an 8/10 overall and recommended it for anyone looking to complete the DOTM cast or Wheeljack fans in general
- Articulation and detail are both improved over the original deluxe
- The lab coat flaps on the sides of robot mode are hinged, so they can articulate a little bit outwards
- For cons, he notes that the 5mm ports in the hands make it look like he’s holding cups, and that he felt the shoulder kibble was handled better on the original deluxe.

A few of my own notes:
- He does scale accurately for Studio Series! Que is 15 feet tall in the movie (about the same height as Dino and Sideswipe, and a little shorter than Bumblebee). We can see in the pics that this is true of the figures as well.
- We heard that the staff can store on his back, but I think this is our first time seeing it. The pistol can attach to the staff as well, so both can be stored there.

Looks like Earthspark is going out with a bang as Hasbro will be releasing 2 new molds for their deluxe line up: Soundwave and Hashtag. Unlike what may be reported elsewhere, Hashtag is not a rerelease of the Takara retool, it simply looks the same at first due to the fact that the toys represent the same character in her season 2 alt mode. Soundwave is a nice blend of the G1 character and his Cybertron self. His calves are turned so that they can fit in the box, his legs will look sleeker when they are properly transformed. This comes to us from In Demand toys, let us know what you think.

Carnage Creations sent us a review of the upcoming Transformers One Studio Series Bumblebee deluxe toy. There has been a lot of discussion as to which toy one would keep in their collection between this new one and the Prime Changer we got in the movie line last year. While the Studio Series version has better articulation, many fans find the look of the Prime Changer to be more accurate. Let us know what you think.

For those anticipating the new Hot Wheels Track Fleet Ultra Magnus, it has been found at Target in the US. It was found by Lody666 in Texas. Speaking of Trackfleet, we now have images comparing the new 2025 Optimus Prime Hot Wheels toy to the 2024 Trackfleet Optimus Prime. As it turns out, the Trackfleet version's cab is much smaller.

The 2025 mainline Optimus Prime also has more details, like vents at the top of the cab. You can check out comparison images below, courtesy of GT2 who got a test copy (hence why it's a different color from the retail release we will get in a couple months).

Our earlier editorial created quite a stir in the Transformers community because even though it was just sharing previously known facts, Transformers fans were not in the know of Hasbro's shift in focus. As Chris Cocks says, Hasbro is now a Game and Toy company, not a Toy and Game company. And while it was assumed this was about things to come, it turns out Hasbro already revealed their first game to be released. And interestingly, it not about Transformers or other brands of theirs, it is a fully new IP. This is old news (from 2023), but from the response to our previous article, it seems fans were unaware of Hasbro branching out to this level.

That's right, while fans were quick to talk about Transformers Reactivate as proof that Hasbro's decision on going all in on video games was a bad strategy, little did they know that it was not a Hasbro game, and that Hasbro was already making something of their own. Transformers Reactivate is a terrible example of what Hasbro intends on doing with video games. Instead, here's a better example: Exodus, their actual game.

Exodus is made by Hasbro's in house studio, Archetype, which is a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast. And Exodus is a fully new IP. It is a third person shooter RPG, more along the lines of Mass Effect. This is what you can turn to, to see what Hasbro is capable of making when it comes to videos games. You can check out gameplay along with interviews with the heads of Archetype to see what Hasbro's gaming division is all about.

As stated in our previous editorial, their games, including Exodus, are set for release in either end 2025, or early 2026. And Hasbro is ramping up development on more, with half of all their R&D budget going to video games now rather than their physical toy divisions. While Chris Cocks stated that he sees digital play being the next stage of Hasbro's brands, we still have no news of a Transformers game from Hasbro themselves, but we will keep you up to date on any development. However, Exodus does give us an idea of what Hasbro can do for their brands. And a Sci Fi RPG shooter is the perfect kind of game for the Transformers brand.

So yes, it's not just plans; Hasbro is a full on video game developer now, through their Archetype Studio, and their first game is Exodus. We will see if they are successful in this new space.

Skybounds latest next comic will be about a Transformer that turns into a Pen, called Ballpoint. The comic itself is called Transformers Worst Bot Ever: Meet Ballpoint and it's written by Brian “Smitty” Smith (Pea, Bee, and Jay) and artist Marz Jr. (the Void Rivals cover artist). This will be released as a 96 page graphic novel on July 9 of this year. It's written for kids ages 8-12:

He’s the littlest Decepticon with the biggest dreams to take down the Autobots – Meet BALLPOINT in Transformers: Worst Bot Ever, a new adventure graphic novel for young readers!

The Decepticons are known for being bad...but Ballpoint is truly the worst –the biggest failure of them all. After the latest attempt to take down the Autobots goes horribly wrong, he’s kicked out of the Decepticons, for good!

Will Ballpoint be able to prove his worth by defeating the Autobots all by himself? Or will he keep failing and find that being the “best” is More than Meets the Eye?

Brian “Smitty” Smith (Pea, Bee, and Jay) and Marz Jr. introduce middle-grade readers (ages 8-12) to the misadventures of the bot who is mightier than the sword in TRANSFORMERS: WORST BOT EVER: MEET BALLPOINT.

We have 2026 Studio Series leader class listings!

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR TF5 NEM PRIME
EAN:5010996348692

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR 86 ASTROTRAIN
EAN:5010996348708

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR 86 SNARL (PR)
EAN:5010996348715

TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES LDR 86 SOUNDWAVE
EAN: 5010996349880

These were found by user nune over on TFW.

Based on past comments from the Hasbro team, Soundwave is most likely a new mold while Astrotrain is a repaint of the one that's been released a few times now. Nemesis Prime is pretty clearly a retool of this year's AOE Optimus Prime, sporting the knight forearms he gets at the end of AOE, and probably (this part is speculation) a tweaked head sculpt and the arm blade he uses to try and stab Bumblebee in TLK.

After the last 2 years have had no Bayverse leaders at all, it's kinda cool we'll have one for two years in a row! Would definitely like to see a new TLK Bumblebee to go against Nemesis!

Hasbro is undergoing a huge shift at the moment and while it started in 2024, we will be seeing that shift happen this year, in 2025. Chris Cocks, Hasbro's CEO who used to work at Microsoft, has been diverting assets to video game development and publishing. All the while, some major Hasbro toy brands will no longer be manufactured by Hasbro and instead will be produced under license by other companies. While Transformers won't be hit as hard with this shift, we are already seeing repercussions to their more risk averse outlook on toy production. While everything below has already been reported as we learnt of it, we will sum everything up for you so that you can see the context behind the current shift in focus from Hasbro.

Switching their Focus to Gaming

Hasbro has been wanting to diversify from being a toy manufacturer for a long time. Brian Goldner's mission was to turn Hasbro from a toy company to an IP company, often citing Disney as inspiration. It was under him that the Bayverse was at an all time high and that other brands, like GI Joe, became live action movie franchises. However, the time for Hasbro's involvement with film making has passed. They have since sold off their production assets and will no longer be financing Hasbro related projects with Paramount or other studios.

This big shift is happening under the new CEO Chris Cocks, who comes from Microsoft. He said in 2024, that the place he sees gaming as the largest potential source of growth for the company. Toys are simply not selling as well as before in general and the future is in digital play. It's there that he feels the company can reach a more mature market and they are so sure of this that he has bet $1 BILLION of Hasbro's money on game development. Their first games resulting from this investment will be released either later this year or in 2026. What is important here is Hasbro's involvement in the games. These aren't simply games using a license from Hasbro (like what Transformers Reactivate was going to be) but games that Hasbro is directly involved in and is financing.

Lowering their Focus on Toy Production

This restructuring of the company has had some massive repercussions in toy development. As we saw last year, there were massive layoffs, all across Hasbro, including the management of the Transformers toy brand. Teams are now leaner. The biggest change is with the Power Rangers brand, where Hasbro will not be making their toys anymore. Instead, Hasbro has licensed toy production out to Playmates. They will be handling the figures we see on shelves, and zords and everything to do with that brand, toy wise. With Power Rangers, Hasbro is using Playmates just as Disney uses Hasbro for Star Wars.

Transformers News: 2025 will be a Transformative Year for Hasbro as they Focus on Games while Producing less Toys

Speaking of Star Wars, that's another area where Hasbro is growing less and less involved in toy production since they have chosen to sublease their master license. While they still produce certain toys, this explains why we see other Star Wars toys on shelves made by different companies. This mitigates their risk of overstock, which has royally bit them in the behind multiple times before. Fun Fact: Them owning the master license is also why Star Wars Funko Pops must all be bobble heads as Funko does not have the right to make Star Wars figures, only Hasbro.

Now how about Transformers?

Becoming apparent with Legacy Evolution, the productions numbers have dropped, meaning that seeing a toy at retail is no longer something that is a sure thing (it never was, but it's even less so the case now). Not only are less of a particular toy being made but there are less toys to make. Transformers One had one quarter of the output we saw with Rise of the Beasts, it only had one wave of product for the deluxe class figures. While that means the film was solely relying on theatrical performance to break even, at least Hasbro did not have overstock or further warehouse storage costs, which can make a toyline far less profitable even if it sells more product.

And the trend of less product continues in 2025 as it has been revealed by Hasbro that yearly Transformers toylines like Age of the Primes will now have 3 waves instead of 4. Unlike the Power Rangers line though, the Transformers line will probably not be leased to another toy maker as it is already in partnership with another company, Takara, for design and distribution. Hasbro has been lowering their stance on forbidding companies licensing the Transformers brand from making toys that convert. We saw that with the Robosen toys and more recently with the Combot Prime which is an official product that has both a robot mode and an alt mode released by a company licensing the Transformers brand from Hasbro.

Transformers News: 2025 will be a Transformative Year for Hasbro as they Focus on Games while Producing less Toys

So all in all, while we have already been seeing changes at Hasbro in their toy production, 2025 is where their new phase truly begins and we'll keep following to see how that impacts the Transformers brand.

This is our first real evidence that we are getting a sports collab this year. Also, all Transformers figures are around the deluxe price point. On February 1st 2025 (so in just one week), Hasbro will unveil the Cyberworld Toyline at the Nuremburg Toy Fair. It seems restrictions on cameras have changed since the days of Combiner Wars Devastator since Hasbro is also funding a project where selected users will take videos and post them. The funding will be distributed though the Tongal website: https://tongal.com/project/Transformers ... #tab-brief
There is also the caveat of being able to attend the event in Germany, of course. This does give us an idea of what to expect from the reveal as the funding page details what Hasbro wants its participants to do along with a higher definition promo image which you can find below.

Transformers Nuremberg Toy Fair Product Reveal Video Project

Synopsis:

Travel to the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany during the last week of January and produce an exciting, high-energy reveal video – potentially with an animation component – to help build anticipation for Hasbro’s new Transformers: CYBERWORLD toy line and its accompanying YouTube Series.

Objectives:

**Please note that some updates have been made to the brief since it’s launched.**

Since their creation, Transformers have encouraged and inspired kids across the globe to use their imagination and create inventive worlds for the transformative vehicle-soldiers to fit within. It’s been their calling card for years, and it’s only increased as the toys have evolved into true mechanical wonders. Now, Hasbro is kicking it up a notch with the release of CYBERWORLD, a fresh, stylized toy line visually inspired by Mecha Anime, where Transformers bots of all kinds get dropped into one combined world made of diverse regions. Here, kids will be able to devise their own Transformers storylines that cross characters between the well known worlds and lore, allowing them to create new team ups, battles, and action. Since this is a major release, Hasbro’s going to be premiering it at this month’s Nuremberg Toy Fair, where the toys will be revealed alongside an upcoming YouTube Series, and they’re looking for YOU to help capture footage of the toys from the toy fair and use it to reveal CYBERWORLD to the rest of the world.

The goal of this project is to create a truly energetic and exciting reveal video that, for the very first time, showcases the toys themselves in high-energy fashion, and that also introduces the YouTube series that is dropping later this year. To do this, you’ll need to be able to capture the toys at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany on Saturday, February 1st. This is not about showcasing the event; it just happens that this toy fair is where the toys will first be unveiled, and that shapes the nature of production. Creatively, Hasbro wants something that has a driving visual narrative, but they’re open to a variety of different approaches, and they’re even open to the inclusion of some 2D or 3D animated effects if that helps to elevate the footage that you capture. You may want to consider on-screen talent, or limited stop motion elements, and that’s workable here too. Hasbro has also provided a few references in the Background that could be helpful for you here as you think about how you might go about this.

There will not be any footage available from the upcoming YouTube series – just a logo – so 90% or so of your video should be focused on the toys, with just a tease for the YouTube series. If you happen to use any animation or motion graphics, you’ll have to be careful that none of your animation can be confused as assets from the series, and you’ll have to be strategic in how you relate the series to the toys themselves. Beyond that, you should avoid any dialogue or voiceover in your video, as they expect this to play just as well on a live arena screen as on YouTube. That’s partially why the narrative will need to be driven by visuals, with some motion text or graphics to help communicate the messaging.

Outside of the video, you’ll also need to capture 15 photographs of the toys at the toy fair. We expect these to be captured within the toy fair setting itself that showcases the different toys individually, and be shot and retouched in such a way that they can be standalone photographs OR worked into the video (if necessary). On the first of February, Hasbro expects that something around a 4-hour window should be sufficient in capturing the footage, and expect the least busy times to be either at the beginning or the end of the show. They’ve also let us know there will be at least one or two individuals present from the Hasbro model shop, who could be a helpful set of hands to film using the toys and all of its features.

For your pitch, be sure to outline in your treatment how your team can execute the shoot itself, and what creative possibilities you have in mind for making this video shine in the edit. For any questions or other project updates, check out the Project Forum.

DELIVERABLES: There are sixteen total assets

One :45-:60 product reveal hero video (16×9)
Fifteen still, retouched photographs of the toys from Nuremberg Toy Fair (16×9)
EXPECTED TIMELINE: HERE

EXPOSURE: We expect content will be used on the platforms below, but if casting talent, be sure they review our required Talent Release before they’re cast, as it is NOT limited to these platforms. You should also review our Music providers in the Project Requirements, as well as the platform best practices.

Live Arenas, toy fairs & expos, etc.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Parents of kids aged 6-11

TONE/FEEL: Exciting, energized, unique

EXECUTIONAL MANDATORIES:

The filmmaker must account for travel within the production budget.
Voiceover cannot be included in this video.
Filmmakers must adhere to the toy line’s brand guidelines, which the greenlit creator will be given access to.
The filmmaking team should be prepared to be at the toy fair for the duration of the day.
Hasbro does not anticipate filmmakers being able to take toys away from their station, so you should plan on filming where they are presented.
By participating in this project, creators acknowledge that the Sponsor is under no obligation to greenlight a submission. Though most projects do move forward, we’ll notify you in the event the Sponsor decides not to fund any submissions via the Project Forum. Regardless of the result, all submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by the Sponsor and project team.

Background/Additional Details:

All of these videos below are references that Hasbro has shared, but they also have specific elements to them that Hasbro wants to capture. No one reference video should be emulated in your pitch; rather, we want you to take these in from an energetic-reference standpoint.

While we know there will be a new kid oriented line coming to shelves this year with Cyberworld, Earthspark has some new toys too and fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg1999 has reviews of them for us. Those include Smash Changers Megatron, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Thrash along with Tacticon Starscream.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:It's funny that at what is probably the end of the line for EarthSpark we get something close to traditional One-Step changers. Smash Changers work the same way as a spring-loaded One-Step changer but all the transformations are activated by pressing down firmly on the rear of the vehicle. Of the four I enjoyed Megatron and Thrash the most, but all of them would make for fun desk toys.
