It's been a while since we've gotten a Transformers sale from Target and it comes at great time! As of late Target.com hasn't had a great selection of figures, but this time their 15% off all Transformers sale comes when several highly sought after figures are actually in stock and available to ship. This also includes many of the latest figures in the Transformers: One movie line. Of course the sale is available online and in store so if your local store has some interesting things in stock this is the time to get it.
Again, there's actually a lot more stuff available online and in stores so take a look and also let us know what you picked up good in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums!

This story is about to open a can of worms. As was reported, Steven Caple Jr was interested in continuing his story after directing Rise of the Beasts, getting ready for the GI Joe crossover film. However, when the project was announced at Cinemacon, only Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Steven Spielberg were were confirmed as attached with the project, with Di Bonaventura now being the principle producer of the film.
So where was Caple Jr? Well, it turns out that he left the project and is now going to direct I Am Legend 2. Now, not only do we have the confirmation of his departure (along with Di Bonaventura's confirmation of their current aimlessness), we also have the reason as to why. It seems Caple Jr and Di Bonaventura got into some heated arguments. He left after a Di Bonaventura went on a power trip of sorts, telling Caple Jr that he should be grateful for being on this project. The article below also claims some racially tinged dialogue was said by Di Bonaventura though that has not been confirmed by either involved, and their representatives have since denied this, instead referring to the exchange as a "heated negotiation that went south."
That said, there’s another reason that Caple landed the I Am Legend 2 gig, and that’s because he was available after turning down the chance to direct the Transformers-G.I. Joe movie for Paramount. And why was he available?
I’m told by multiple sources it’s because he got into a heated argument with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and walked away from the project.
I’m not going to get into the specifics of what I heard, but suffice it to say, I’m told that some of DiBonaventura’s comments were interpreted as racially-tinged and that the old-school producer — di Bonaventura is 67 years old — suggested Caple should be more grateful for the opportunity to direct the big-budget crossover movie, which is slated to star Chris Hemsworth.
Both Caple and di Bonaventura are represented by CAA, which denied that any incident occurred, with one agency insider suggesting it was merely a heated negotiation that went south — nothing out of the ordinary in the cutthroat world of Hollywood.
I’m certainly not suggesting that di Bonaventura is racist or anything like that, but I think we’re all guilty of micro-aggressions and things like that from time to time. From what I’ve been told by several different parties, it certainly sounds like that’s what happened here… at the very least.

Transformers One had a pretty big panel at SDCC 2024. Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan-Michael Key, Josh Cooley and Chris Hemsworth were there getting interviewed by pretty much everyone. We have a slew of videos for you below so you can get all that content in one spot, including their big panel. There's even a fun video of them doing their version of the Transformation Sound Effect. Enjoy!

While Transformers One had a panel at SDCC, it quickly turned into a panel on how the GI Joe Crossover Film is not happening anytime soon. It was inevitable that questions on that movie would be asked since the Transformers One panel had both Chris Hemsworth and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, which are both attached to the Transformers GI Joe film.
You can read the full answers to the questions below, but here are the main takeaways:
- They have yet to find a key to make the movie work due to there being a lot of characters in such a crossover
- The film is still in its creative phase, they are still working on what story it could be
- Hemsworth is unsure about his role in that movie at this point, he even jokes about being both Optimus Prime and a GI Joe character, talking to himself
- Bonaventura admits that characterization of the Transformers characters is poorer in live action films than animated projects due to the cost of special effects, meaning less focus and dialogue on the Transformers characters
- They would like to make another solo GI Joe film
Di Bonaventura on where they are at with the Transformers GI Joe movie:
We are definitely in the process of figuring out how to integrate G.I. Joe and Transformers. We’re in the creative process. We really have not discovered the key to that yet because one of the difficulties with it is there are so many characters that you feel you have to service, and when you do that, you never really deliver any good characters. So the trick here is to figure out how do you combine these two worlds with the least number of people or robots? That’s where it’s a big trick that we’re trying to figure out. So, we’re working with that.
Chris Hemsworth on his inclusion in the planned Live Action Movie.
“I don’t know yet,” Hemsworth admitted. “I keep getting asked about that. [Producer] Lorenzo [di Bonaventura] had brought it up when I was recording this film … and we started talking about where the universe could expand and how fun it could be. And look, I’m just down for great filmmakers, great scripts, great stories. There’s a lot of potential in this universe, in both the G.I. Joe world and the Transformers world, to recreate, try something different.”
***
“We’ve had an early conversations about it, and about what the world has to offer, and I think there’s some really fun opportunities to expand the universe. Nothing official yet, it’s been in early creative discussions. But who knows? We’ll see. I love this experience. I loved working with Lorenzo Bonaventura and Paramount, I worked with Paramount years ago. But Lorenzo I’ve known for a lot of years and he’s just such a great creative partner.
[It would be] really fun to give something to audiences that’s a new take and something fresh. I’m not even sure [who I would play]. I was like, “Am I going to be, like, talking to myself? Am I still going to play Optimus Prime and then switch over to G.I. Joe? Do I get paid twice? What’s happening here?” That’s the important question.”
Di Bonaventura on standalone G.I. Joe movies:
We do intend to bring back G.I. Joe, a standalone. We’ve created a complication for ourselves because we just did the [Transformers: One] animated movie, and to our wonder and to our real happiness, because there are no human characters in the animated movie, the characters of the robots are so much more sophisticated around it. They cost too much in live-action, so we’re always trying to figure out how few words we can get from that, whereas, the animation is all the same. So, we’ve set a third problem for ourselves here, which is now the audience would be disappointed if we return to the same level of characterization we’ve had up to now.

It wasn't just Hasbro that was busy revealing stuff last week-end, Takara had their own plethora of reveals. Albeit, not all at shows. While Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong did get the reveal of an exclusive Transformers One "leader sized" Optimus Prime, the others have been found through preliminary listings online. Here's all the new stuff from Takara from the last few days:
TF One leader Optimus Prime: a Takara initiative to have the leader character get a leader sized figure. We saw it with ROTB as well with Primal, though that figure was also simplified. We do not know if that will be the case with this figure too. It will be available in the US as well through an import (as the ROTB Primal was on Pulse), and the listing for the import is below.
TRA GEN TT IMPORT TF ONE LDR OP
Product Number: G1849
Missing Link Sentinel Prime: an orange redeco of Missing Link Optimus Prime
ROTB Nemesis Prime: a nemesis prime redeco of buzzworthy BB SS ROTB voyager Optimus Prime
Armada Super Starscream: a blue redeco of Legacy Armada Starscream
Grey throne: a grey throne accessory
Anime Leo Prime: a retool and redeco of Legacy Leo Prime where the lion head looks like the head in the anime rather than a a fusion of Alexander and Nina from FMA
Let us know which of these you plan on tracking. Extra effort and money will be required as these will be imports (so you either pay extra for a place like Pulse to do the importing, or you import it yourself from Japan).

Nobody knew this was coming, but it might be at a Target near you. Completely announced by Target or Hasbro there have been multiple sightings now of Power of the Primes Evolution Optimus Prime from 2018. The figure and packaging appear to be unchanged and a straight reissue with no obvious changes to the figure or the package. It's a surprise to say the least in a year that's already heavily saturated with Prime figures.
Pictures come from Reddit users _LigerZer0_, Clear-Bench-4202, and most impressively RooptorRed who found 11 of them in a display. And you can let us know if you find them in stores by posting in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums.

Many fans have been able to see a preview showings of Transformers One across the world (US, UK, Australia). Below are images of the various preview events along with reactions. And that includes Thew's!
Thew wrote:Caught an advance screening of TransformersOne with my mate Tom in tow and can confirm it is a DELIGHT. Absolutely tremendous fun, a wonderful love letter to the franchise and a stellar introduction for new fans! You guys are gonna LOVE it
Ugh, I wanna watch it again already. What a movie. Straight in as my fave of the 21st century TF movies. Brings the backstory and deep lore to life, has fun with it and puts on a show with real stakes, big emotions, and easter eggs galore. I need it on Blu-ray immediately cheers
Shadow25 wrote:Guys... it was fantastic. You're all gonna love it. This movie is a love letter to Transformers. It embraces and does right by its characters and all iterations of the franchise while carving its own path.
I can't wait for everyone to see it. I really think and hope this can be something that unites all fans of this franchise.
Matt Neglia wrote:I almost cannot believe I’m saying this, but TRANSFORMERS ONE is by far and away the best Transformers film to date. The trailers don’t do this justice. Rich in character & emotion with a deep reverence for the lore, it tells the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron, tragically transforming once from brothers to enemies. Josh Cooley directed this animated film to perfection, down to the last comedic and action beat, all backed by an epic score & an excellent voice cast. One of the genuine surprises of the year for me
ItzPerka wrote:TransformersOne is the ultimate Transformers movie! I felt like I was a kid again watching this movie. This was a movie made for the fans. It doesn’t release until September 20th but definitely go watch it when it releases! Easily a 9/10!
Thembo wrote:Sooo I just got lucky enough to see transformersone a bit early and I say as a lifelong fan that this is the best on-screen Transformers since 1986. I can't spoil anything, but it's really really good! You can feel that it was made by fans, with love. Had a fantastic time!
LiamTCrowley wrote:Paramount showing TransformersOne screenings TWO MONTHS early is a massive vote of confidence and damn it is it justified. Engaging story, stunning visuals, legit laughs, AND some tear-jerking gravity? Come on. The best Transformers theatrical experience I’ve had. Massive W. I’ve long thought the Transformers lore was goofy - this movie slapped me in the face and told me to sit down and listen. was locked in on everything regarding the Primes, Cybertron, and exactly how this world works. made me want to become a diehard fan. Keegan-Michael Key steals the show as Bumblebee. multiple legitimate laugh out loud moments from him. ScarJo and Hemsworth are welcomed surges of charisma as well, and Jon Hamm crushed as Sentinel Prime
tiza wrote:I went into this movie no expectations. i was blown away. imo there is no critique from me. the relationship between orion pax & d-16 is just amazing. this is a dark movie. very emotional the scenes hit like crack. in other words…peak!

Transformers One is upon us and even if the film may not interest all fans, seeing fully stocked shelves will make any grinch's heart grow three sizes. While the toys are coming in rather slowly in the US, Mexican fans are getting the more traditional approach where Walmart is stocking the line all at once, turning the toyline into film promotion, as is intended. Below are images showing the toyline out in full force.
The toys are coming to the states as well but the shelves don't look as inviting or inspiring, you can check the contrast with a US target below.
And for those wanting to know more about these toys, we have some reviews below for the Mega Changers (same as Titan Changers), Robot Battlers, Cog Changers (one steps) and the Ultimate Energon Optimus Prime, courtesy of Chuckdawg1999.

With Transformers One being a general prequel to the brand, Paramount and Hasbro have chosen to spoil the third act in their latest trailers. It really seemed like the upcoming Transformers One film would be taking place predominantly before the war between Autobots and Decepticons, but the new trailers (one for domestic market, the other international) veers right into that conflict as being the culminating climax. The new trailer shows us a lot of Optimus Prime and Megatron, which is their third form in the film.
We also have new posters which you can see below. The movie has now been seen by more people and the embargo for reactions is now over, so we will be doing a write uo of how well this movie has been received as well. Stay tuned.

It's been a while since we've seen an intentionally rare Transformer released, and even less common for it to be from Hasbro. No Surprise it's an Optimus Prime figure, right? As part of the 40th Anniversary celebration and ahead of the release of Transformers: One, a special "Battle Damaged" version of Studio Series 112 Optimus Prime/Orion Pax has been revealed by Hasbro HK limited to only 230 individually numbered copies globally! For Hasbro HK's part they'll be giving away 40 of them (8 per day) at Hasbro Fans Expo to people spending $3,000HKD ($384USD) in the Hasbro booth.
This isn't the only exclusive being offered. For those spending $800HKD ($102USD) they have "Transformers 40th Anniversary Commemorative Poker Cards" limited to 280 at the Expo (global number wasn't given). For those spending $500HKD ($64USD) they're giving out 280 40th Anniversary collectable coins which appear to be limited 5,000 globally. And while it doesn't appear to be exclusive, 500 sets of BotBots are being given to those that spend $300HKD ($38USD).
No word on where else these will be made available around the world, but we do have San Diego Comic Con THIS WEEKEND (Hasbro Fans Expo will be offering SDCC exclusives) so who knows? When we do we'll be sure to let everyone know and you can talk about it in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums!

We still have one more wave in the Studio Series line in 2024 that has yet to be revealed fully, which includes War for Cybertron Ratchet. While we do not have any listings for that 4th wave, Amazon.com somehow put up listings for the first wave of 2025. Now you can't order these and they have no images. BUT it makes us wonder if the toys listed will be available earlier than anticipated.

This may not be news for everyone, but we wanted to give an FYI to fans who may benefit to know that Takara is reissuing several figures next year. For the Masterpiece line, they will reissue MP36 Megatron along with MP12+ Sideswipe, MP17+ Prowl and MP20+ Wheeljack. Those are the toon deco versions. This will be happening in 2025, along with 2 multipacks: SS Devastator and Legacy Menasor.
In less exciting news, they will also give fans another chance to get the Universal Studios redeco of the Studio Series Leader DOTM Megatron toy.
It is unclear which of these will be exclusive reissues through takara tomy mall and which will be non exclusive, and available readily on Amazon Japan and other Japanese retailers.
