I have my orginal G1 Prime, which is almost complete if a little rough, and a new re-issue Pepsi Prime I got a few months back, so I'd love a new-new Prime to go w/ them. I'l very likely pick this guy up, sooner or later.

70 bucks? Geez...I don't think he was that much when TRU did the reissue series a couple years back...

Either way, I'd love to have this guy...but I can't justify myself paying 70 dollars for it (even though you get a boatload of extras). I wish there was an option to get JUST the figure for a lower price without all that extra crap.

Hasbro said that they would be using several other G1 molds for the 25th line. I wonder which ones they'll be. I would like to have another Ultra Magnus. It would be awesome if they gave us something that wasn't reissued in the Commemerative line a few years ago.

Hasbro hopes people will actually pay that much?
I think $70 for the thing is way too much, myself, given it's an old 1980s simple design that doesn't warrant the cost of a masterpiece toy. This is the same reason I spent about $100 on Classics Ultra Magnus + City commander, as it's pointless to spend the same on a vintage Ultra Magnus.

I allready have three one from 1985 when I bought it a G2 version with the black trailor and the version released to TRU a few years back

What i dont get is why they put such a price on the reissues.. Just like the rainbow bright seacon reissue being over 100$ WTF lol.. But then back when RID was out the released the Combaticons at a normal price. Why release one at norml cost and rape fans over a log for the seacons ?
They will wonder why people aint buying prime.. Wake up hasbro , lower the prices to a fare price and we will buy the stuff..

Repro of G1 Optimus Prime
Reprint of the 1st (3?) issue(s) of the G1 Comic
DVD of the 1st 3 pilot episodes of the G1 Cartoon
Electronic belt buckle
The Commemorative Series reissue of Prime ran about $25 or so, if I recall correctly, and the value of a G1 Prime (in the mind of Hasbro execs at least) has increased due to added time AND increased popularity of the Optimus Prime character brought by the new movie.
Figure that, and the fact that you're gettin' about $18-25 worth of other stuff with him, and the price seem a bit more reasonable (or at least, less UNreasonable)

No way lol even with that junk thrown in its not worth that much.. Animated 2 pack came with a dvd and was still only 25$ lol.. Hasbro is just hoping more people like you think this so they can justify selling it for that crazy price...
Its like those stupid info mercials you see on tv at night .." If you buy the super chopper now for $99.95 we will throw in this LED cook book reading light an 80$ value yours FREE if you act now!!! "
In the end hasbro had to come up with an idea to rip us off even more so they added 10$ worth of "extras" to get us to think that the price is worth it.
Ill pick one up if i see them on clearence but no way in heck am i paying 70$.

The DVD cost is iffy.
The belt buckle thing is a pointless inclusion.
Unfortunately, I've noticed some fans will accept and praise everything Hasbro gives out.

yup, hasbro could repaint a turd to look like optimus and slap an 50$ price tag on it and someone will buy it and say it was a good deal.
Also how many times can you possible reissue prime??? I mean come on already there are soo many more figures that would be better , like THE DINOBOTS!!.. They say they will be releasing more G1s for the 25th Ann.. i bet you they will be the same figures they did for the reissues in the past.. Then again it scares me to think what they would charge for the dinobots if they reissued them, probably 40$ or more each. Hasbro could care less about the fans , no matter what garbage they tell us in there interviews.

They made so many Pepsi Primes they were literally GIVING THEM AWAY FOR FREE at one point.
If Hasbro cared, they wouldn't have hired the worst director in Hollywood. And the fact he made a successful movie leads me to be afraid John McCain will get elected as there seem to be a LOT of dumb people out there...

I am at the point these days where I will only wear electronic belt buckles. The regular ones are so last century. If this one has Prime saying "Don't mess with Texas!", I'll buy several.

There are at least two deal breakers:
- * colors (particularly the trailer, at least from the pics over at HTS)
* shortened smokestacks
I like how the product description at BBTS reads:
"two firing missiles on robot mode"
How far do the missiles actually fire?

they move about a fraction of an inch in the launcher and go no further, or just slide and drop out
