An early concept of Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime by Don Figueroa was produced for Transformers/GI Joe crossover comic but never come into fruition. However, it seems like a Japanese third party company named "Xovergen Production" will give us their take on Figueroa's design and turn it into a toy.

Xovergen Production has posted a silhouette of the alternate mode of Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime, or rather Supreme Tactical Commander-Grand Patriot . The site also mentions that this toy will be released at the end of 2010, and is comprised of a transforming robot and a commander base.

I'd have to see what he looks like (comic, not toy) before I'm sold on the idea. Then I'd need to see the finished product.

I do so love these 3rd party companies. At least they'll do what Hasbro hasn't.

I'm not putting Hasbro down, but lately these companies have been earning my money and they deserve it.

If it's anywhere near as good as this it'll be impressive.

*facepalms* I didn't even connect the name to the design. >_<

Okay, yeah, that could be awesome.

Holy feck, I so loved that design and now we're getting a toy?
Damn I love 3rd party companies, I hope someone will make an idw pre earth Megatron.

That's kinda awesome. I'm hoping the quality is a bit more in step with FansProject than other third party offerings. Of course at this stage, the entire thing could turn into a giant turd. I have high hopes for this one.

Gonna take a wait and see approach, but let's hope this can turn out as good as a Fans Project toy. But for now, I'm kinda excited, and I've been wanting a green colored prime in my collection for sometime now.

Now we just need that Dominator Megs and I'm set!!

I'm all over this if the design is accurate and it fits the Classics/Henkei scale figures-but definitely not if these guys don't prove themselves a worthy player in the third party universe. I'm getting tired of 3P vendors showing flashy ideas and prototypes and then failing on QA/QC and materials quality.

I'll wait until there are actual prototype images to make my judgement.

I have bought stuff from encline designs before and his stuff is AMAZING..right on par with frenzyrumble and Jin Saotome..If this offering is even remotely like this it'll be amazing..We could possibly be seeing the 3rd party balance of power shift towards someone else besides FP..It is of course far too early to tell but the mere possibility is worth getting excited for...

That's the biggie. 'If' done right. All we have so far is... what, a silhouette?

They all almost always start out as a silhouette don't they?

Or blurred out pictures that tease you with enough to get an idea, but not enough to see what it really is. I think I much prefer silhouettes.

It's like being a starving bum and just not quite reaching that can of beans.

If the figure turns out half as badass as the drawings, then we should be in for a real treat. Hellz yeah!

So I have a question. Now that we have the human alliance line. Why cant hasbro make a gijoe transformers crossover and make the figures the size of the human alliance figures. They can make each transformer come with a gijoe figure and make them all the same scale as the human alliance figures. win win.

WOW!!! Thanks for the love guys!!!!

I gotta say, I am quite happy that they announced this a couple of weeks before I put my ROLLING THUNDER Prime up for the offering!

So yeah, the big question.....will it be in scale with Joes....

I doubt it.. the price point would be WAY to much for us. I personally am glad to see this mold getting some love. However, I wish Hasbro would have made this line.

I am sure I will pick this up to paint it...hahah..wait wait wait....:)

Looks like he finished it! He posted these on hisstank.com earlier today. I don't think they're on his website yet.

I don't think that's the same. Encline has been working on his for quite sometime I think. The mass produced one that the thread is talking about is another one. Still a good find though. Nice to see how far Encline has gotten.

You're correct. The 3rd parties Rolling Thunder Prime will be the same height as Universe Voyager Inferno.

Whoops! I thought they were one-in-the-same based on this earlier post (in this thread)

Re-reading it, I see he's talking about his custom vs. the other. Sorry for the confusion, guys, my bad.

While I love the idea of a Rolling Thunder Optimus Prime, I'm not sure I'll get it. I just don't have a place for it. Same reason I didn't get the Knight Morpher. No place for it.
