Thanks to video game website Nintendo Life, we've been pointed in the direction of a very interesting Amazon.co.uk listing - Activision's Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. Several listings have appeared, including releases for the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, XBox One and PS4, but not much more information than a brief marketing blurb of the game, and we have no idea whether this will be connected to the Age of Extinction film. Check out what the listings have to say about it below and click here for an overview of the listings.
UPDATE: The listings appear to have now been removed.
Product Description
The next installment in the incredible Transformers gaming franchise, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark is an exciting action game that is perfect for veteran fans and newcomers.

In regards to the Deadpool game, it was a good game for Deadpool fans. But as a game itself... it was bad. Not good at all. Abandoned Fall of Cybertron to redirect all effort for a pretty bad game.

In the Covenant of Primus book (and maybe in the new Retribution novel--I wouldn't know since I still haven't gotten to read it yet), there is a paragraph that talks about some of the events that happened on Cybertron long after the Ark and Nemesis left into space, one of which talks about how Shockwave captured Alpha Trion and used him along with Vector Sigma in a twisted experiment attempting to artificially create an evil counterpart to the Matrix of Leadership, one based on Dark Energon.
I could see this game using that plotline as a basis and structuring its story around the attempts of the Wreckers and the Dinobots trying to stop Shockwave and destroy the Dark Energon Matrix.

To bad High Moon won't be doing the game. They have some good experience and Fall Of Cybertron's a great game.
Hopefully the studio that's going to develop this game, will look very close to the FOC game and not try any funny business like ROTF. Constantly driving made me in that game, but overall it was pretty good.
I think it would be connected to the movie, since it'll be probaby launched around the time the movie comes out.

Based on the title and what we know of the Thirteen's story, I'm not sure what this "Dark Spark" could pertain to related to the Thriteen.SlyTF1 wrote:I hope this has to do with the first 13 Primes, as like a prequel or something. Also, I wish they would just make an open world game on Cybertron.
Though, I think the chances of them making a Thirteen game are slim to none since, to the general public, the Thirteen are obscure nobodies that more than likely aren't very profitable. Big names like Optimus and Megatron and their ilk are what the casual folks want, and thus are what sell. The Thirteen would only appeal to the most diehard of diehard fans, who are such a niche market to cater to that there's be little commercial gain from making such a game.

I'd be very surprised if this was in any way related to the new movie. If it was then why not call it Age of Extinction? Even if it's not a direct adaptation, surely they'd still call it Age of Extinction: All About Bumblebee or something. They'd potentially lose out on sales not naming it after the film. Sabrblade's theory sounds pretty sound.

I was thinking that the Dark Spark could be referring to The Fallen.

It does say two worlds collide, which could mean a crossover, but also simply that the Transformers land on Earth.
Will reserve judgement till we get actual information on this.

Yeah, that was... mind-boggling.Dead Metal wrote:Um WTF? Is this like a cross over between movie and Aligned, or is WFC/FOC suddenly the prequel to AOE,a nd will ignore all previous movies?

People already have a hard time accepting WFC/FOC as being connected to TF: Prime. But now if there's some sort of connection with the even more-different-looking AOE...
GUGH! This game's gonna make all kinds of headaches if there isn't any dimension-hopping involved.
Posted by noctorro on February 15th, 2014 @ 3:19pm CST
So it is High Moon that's making the game? Since FOC is their franchise and all.
I saw the movie Optimus with a Pathblaster from FOC.
So the gameplay will be as good as the same as FOC???
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I'm psyched, if it's on PS4, I'll buy the thing, just for this game!

Hopefully it won't have the framerate issues that DOTM had.
Movie games should get proper time to make the game, if they put in stuff from FOC that's already built they can make a solid game that takes a few hours to complete.

Agamemnon wrote:*Sigh* Well, it looks like I can finally cut myself off from these video games. It may be awesome in playability, but what drew me to WfC and FoC was the definite G1 tie in. I do not like the tie in to the movies (or even Prime, for that matter.)
WFC/FOC are not G1 though, they are (or where if this is going to be connected to the movies) Aligned, which means Prime.

True, but I find that more of a retcon. It seems clear to me that WfC, in particular, was meant to align with G1, or at the very least throw back to it. (Compare BB with G1 and Prime/the movies, and I think this is pretty clear.)
Also, I should state that I don't like Hasbro's attempts to "align" everything. They own the properties, so they get to do what they want. But I think it is wrong of them to stifle the imagination of their customers, which is what I think they are doing whether intentional or not. But, that's just my opinion...
Posted by Sabrblade on February 15th, 2014 @ 4:35pm CST
Truth be told, I never really saw how WFC/FOC were all that much more G1-inspired than some of the other obvious G1 homages we got in other series. The only things about the WFC/FOC designs that seemed so overtly G1-based to the point that they couldn't be seen as being from anything but G1 were some of the characters' heads. The rest of their looks (color schemes, body designs, etc.) just seemed like the typical, ordinary, casual G1-homage stuff we see all the time in non-G1 series.Dead Metal wrote:Agamemnon wrote:*Sigh* Well, it looks like I can finally cut myself off from these video games. Like, take Energon Grimlock or Cybertron Soundwave, for instance. Both look exceptionally G1-based, yet no one ever tried to peg them as being G1 Grimlock or G1 Soundwave in a serious manner.

- It's Movie-verse vs War for Cybertron universe!
- Prime vs Prime, Grimlock vs Grimlock, Earth vs Cybertron, Bumblebee vs Bumblebee
This description makes it sound like there are two of each character, one from each world, fighting each of their counterparts across both worlds.

The trailer points that out too, no? I mean, the whole point is X vs X.
Everything vs Everything.
Sure, not as explicit as that quote, but still.

To me, the trailer just looks like generic TF gaming action, mixed with models based on both sources, and vague descriptions that seem to pertain to Cybertron/Earth and Good/Evil.

If they're trying to make WFC/FoC a prequel to the movies, it doesn't work, since we've already seen movieverse Cybertron in the films and it looks completely different (heck, we know from the first film that Megatron looks completely different from WFC Megatron from flashbacks).
If they're doing a bunch of alternate-reality crossover stuff, I have to ask...why? Who was asking for that? They've already done a pretty poor job of their Aligned Continuity (Sorry, but WFC/FoC and Prime should be kept seperate), throwing the movieverse into the mix just muddles everything up even more.
This looks like a hamfisted way of reusing assets from FoC to rush out a movie tie-in. Hopefully the gameplay is as solid as the previous games, but I'll need to see a lot more before I make a purchase.

I mean, what even is going on with this? These designs don't look too congruent. It'd be like doing an Animated meets G1 crossover. Hint: It would be horrid-looking.

And there was that "Bee in the City" live script reading crossover between Animated and TransTech, in which a few Animated character met Beast Wars Megatron.
And there's also been crazier crossovers in the 3H BotCon stuff and the TCC stuff.

I'm being too harsh. Too early to tell. I'll think about it more after some sleep.
