If this is a soft reboot to the wrecking-ball slinging, lubricant leaking like R. Kelly, unintelligible action and mostly human character scenes having Poopamount produced fodder from the last decade, I'm going to see this in the theaters.
I felt nearly every animated series that came in the wake of Transformers 2007, a Cybernet Space Cube full of "remember these things" did a better job of story telling than the Bay films did. And some of them had 3 hours to do so.
The G1-inspired robot designs are a bonus; the vibes that this is indeed the "kid and a car" adventure at its core that viewers were sold years ago...I'm all in.
Maybe Poopamount doesn't want to make the same mistake that Warner Brothers is making with the DCEU.
...who are those two robots who call Bumblebee a criminal, by the way?

If this look is how they're going from here out, excellent. They actually look like robots instead of mobile scrapyards.

Shockwave sighting! Also a very brief look at Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Cybertronian Mode Blitzwing on the right in the shot with 'ol one eye.

Really hoping there's gonna be Barricade there.
As for the G1-esque bots, I personally feel that this don't mix well with the awesomeness Bee and the cons have brought. Don't get me wrong. They look pretty nice. But they don't seem to belong in this continuity. I would be really impressed had they been introduced in another installment (could be a new series, or a game), but in this movie? That feeling is kinda stamped out.
Thankfully, the stuff that's on earth is amazing enough to still get me hyped for this movie.
Just my two cents.

This movie can then spawn two line of toys, possibly, including present day and the Cybertron range. Either way the closer they get to G1 the closer they get to selling more toys to the older guys as well as the kids. Cha-ching. $$$$

Us fans like it but how do new fans like it hey are ones who bring in more money to this series and thanks to bay transformers have new fans but new fans do not watch cartoons and do not read comics so if new fans don’t like this only people who will see this movie is little kids and people who go on this web site something need be considered deeply if some old transformers fans actutllay talk to new transformer fans they them self will know this,.
Do I like yeah I do but is g1 perfect no but are bay moves perfect no but they are realistic unlike comics and cartoons that made people into new fans of transformers to begin that comics and cartoons could never do some parts movie look like live action cartoon but more importantly will new fans go see this more than once that bay movies made them fans to begin with,.
What story with transformers it’s autobots vs deceptions good vs evil one try conquer universe good stops them not much to say same can be said with super hero comic book movies this superhero series but hero’s and villains are giant alien robots that transform and not all all then have human faces shockwave, soundwave, grimlock.
Prime with faceplate off started with cartoons beast wars, machines, transformers prime, rid, energon, cybertron, rescue bots

This may be the most excited I've felt watching a "Transformers" trailer in 10 years. Holy friggin' crap I think I had TEARS rolling down my face from excitement!! Shatter and Dropkick look way good, Soundwave looks like....well, SOUNDWAVE, Optimus actually looks like he Transformers into a truck/vehicle (as compared to his AoE rebooted design), and the action looks simply amazing. And that's just it, the action looks....simple. Not boring, but simple. Well choreographed bot v con fist-to-fist fight scenes that don't include an onslaught of needless explosions and a countless array of nameless Decepticons. THAT'S what Transformers are meant to be!! I can't wait for the world to finally be introduced to what a live action Transformers is supposed to be!
I am now left to wonder, however, how they plan on justifying the inconsistent Cybertronian designs with the previous movies, and the lack of aesthetic continuity present, but honestly I don't really care. There's always been a notable lack of continuity in these films, so at least now they seem to be using that to their advantage to make a GOOD and well-made movie. And more power to them for it.

That shot of Hoover Dam makes me really hope we get a brief glimpse of frozen Megatron, that’d be awesome!
I love Bee’s expression when he points to Charlie after she asks if he has family.

I think this movie actually splits the difference between geezer fans and fans of the Bay movies. In particular, in all that grumbling I did earlier, what I meant was this movie actually looks like it'll be more than "explodey robots", toilet humor (which has its place, even in Transformers, but the Bay movies were overkill with it), "bro humor" (ditto) and a whole bunch of humans who pad all the run time between "explodey robots"; rather, it will have a story and look that will attract fans of all ages.
And that's what I've wanted to see in a Transformers live action movie; it doesn't even have to be a G1 rehash, just something with a decent story and action. What I feel Bay's movies lacked is... as explained above: "Heart". The Transformers were basically "robots that talked" and little more, trading off the nostalgia of older fans. There was little to "root" for or against. Especially the Decepticons.
Here, I saw more in one line from one Decepticon in the trailer than I did in the Bay film(s). Really looks promising.

if they're clever they shouldn't tie it 100% with TF2007 just enough that it can be a forever prequel to both new and old.

Love it, I like the kind of softness in it. I love the fact that there's a female Decepticon car (at least I think she's a Decepticon). I love that it looks like they're going to have dialogue.
About the Cybertron bits, yes I agree with some of you guys. It looks like the video game cinematic from Fall of Cybertron / War for Cybertron. I would like if they clean it up a bit and make it somehow more realistic. But if they leave it as is I won't have a problem with it.
One thing I do wish, man they have to become toys! I need all of them, every single Cybertron Transformer. And I need... well I need every single Transformers character as a Generations style toy.
Looks so sweet man. G1 fan pandering. Well, it's not fanservice if it's well written and makes sense to be there. Optimus Prime doesn't need to look like a Bionicle. Megatron doesn't need to look like puked out paperclips and Starscream didn't need to look like a flying squirel female genital monkey bugface.
Because that was total bullsh*t from the Bayformers.
Posted by partholon on September 24th, 2018 @ 3:46pm CDT
i agree the cybertrons bits look a bit ropey but i put that down to CG still being in development. its not unusual in trailers so i expect a bit of a clean up to give it more layers.
but all in all this is what ive been wanting since the beginning. i cant express how GOOD it is to just be able to recognise on sight who a character is meant to be.
even on an easter egg level, im pretty sure i saw starscream and skywarp with shockwave for instance. ya could never get that in the bay films. speaking of that scene it seems to be very similar to a scene in the first "war within" series where thundercracker and skywarp took out that building with all the neutrals in it. it certainl looks like theyre trying to drop in on prime at the very least.
theres enough fan service in this to keep me sated but if one or two characters actually did their "power" move (i.e skywarp teleport)- however briefly- i'd be in heaven.
im really really looking forward to it now.

First, GOOD
Everything Earth related. Bee looks great, Shatter and Dropkick with that first ever movie-verse on screen triple change from one alt to another to robot was awesome. Those 2 and Blitzwing look great and have me super stoked. I got goosebumps during some of their scenes.
I am super excited for the movie overall!!!
and now, BAD
Everything on Cybertron.
The aesthetic is not bad, it isn't. But it certainly has no business being "live action." That is the WFC/FOC video game with some Don Figueroa IDW ongoing in it, and it is not that good. It could be far better if it were not live action related.
And honestly, the look compared to the rest of the film really makes it stand out in a very bad way. It looks like something else entirely, like they actually used 5 minutes of someone's FOC gameplay as the first 5 minutes of Transformers Prime. It does not look good in live action, and it is very out of place.
Lastly, if this is what "G1" fans have really wanted in live action, then I am super glad this is not how we started, and I'm super glad this will be brief. It's bad. That is not live action. That is good video game stuff knocked off with extra pointy bits and indentations.
Get. Out.

Also, the easiest way to solve the Blitzwing issue:
Step 1: Change color to blue
Step 2: Change name to Thundercracker
Step 3: No one complains
Step 4: Profit

Upon rewatching that bit a few times, I don't think that Acid Storm that currently unnamed green Seeker is a conehead, he looks like he just has some tetrajet kibble behind his head. It doesn't turn/move with the rest of his head. I can totally see why you thought it was attached though.

But none of the robots in these films are live action either, they are all CGI. The fight between Bee and Optimus in TLK is all CGI until cade yeager shows up. So this is the same thing but devoid of any BS.
Also, thats not a conehead in the trailer. If you pause you can see that his head is the same as the others, he just has kibble in his back that sticks upward. But he doeant have a cone sitting atop his head.

It's a live action movie, that footage does not match at all. Make it a whole other movie or video game or TV show after cleaning it up a little.

I am glad we are finally getting some G1-ish live action, but it might be too cutesy for the masses, and I don't know if there are enough of us geewuners out there to support a very cgi expensive franchise.

I'm not a G1-er, I was born during the tail end of Beast Wars and my first TF experience was from RiD and Armada, and I think this looks amazing and am more excited for this than I think any of the past TF films except the first one. It's not necessarily just a G1 nostalgia thing.

Cyberverse is already the G1 toyline for kids (even though G1 itself probably doesn't mean a damn thing to most of them) and Generations is already the G1 toyline for adults. Who's a third one supposed to be for? I think they're better off mostly sticking to the robot aesthetics we'll be seeing on Earth for most of the film, which reminds me a little of Transformers Prime in thar the idea seems to be "movie style, but without a bunch of ugly exposed-looking parts or things that split up into a bunch of pieces that go everywhere for no reason streamlined".
Also, it's kind of ironic seeing someone say "G1 all the way" with a Mini-Con symbol for their profile.

Some highlights is the character of Memo (played by Jorge Lendeborg Jr.) who is Charlie's new neighbor.
"Memo is new to town, he's Charlie's next door neighbour and someone who we get to know as she gets to know him at the same time. We see their relationship bloom and grow and be challenged; they have a lovely friendship in the film but the core of the movie is the relationship between Charlie and Bee."
We also get confirmation Starscream will appear, possibly as a background character.
We're swiftly disabused of that notion thanks to a barrage of familiar faces including Decepticon premiereship players Shockwave, Starscream and Blitzwing, all in their original, first generation forms.
We also get a little heartfelt speech about Transformers to Knight.
"I grew up with these Transformers and the story that I wanted to tell was something that was resonant and evocative of those original wave of Transformers stories. I loved those things so much. They were new, they were magical, they were wondrous. They connected with me emotionally and they were exciting to watch. That's the kind of film I wanted to make here."
Knight also heavily implies Wheeljack is going to make an appearance in a G1-esque body.
"There's a lot going on," laughs Knight. "If I was going to make a Transformers film I wanted to give nods to some of the things that I loved most about the series to begin with and for me seeing those original designs on Shockwave and Soundwave and Ravage and Wheeljack and all those different characters was a really exciting opportunity to take the audience back to that initial wave of Transformers and to evoke the same feeling that they evoked in me. I was pretty giddy bringing those guys to life."

Still doesn't defend how out of place everyone is on Cybertron. I can imagine myself wanting to tune out if we see Megatron having a Walther P38 trigger between his legs instead of having the same 2007 design that was shown in a Cybertron scene and when he was discovered by Archibald. But hey, Travis Knight can just go ahead and rip off his suit while showing that he wears an I heart G1 shirt. But that's none of my business.

Not really. We had a similar cybertron only scene before in the trilogy.
(go to the 2:45 mark)
Plus there was this completely CG scene.
Its all CG, there is no live action element to it. If you find that these above look live action while the new stuff doesnt, then Michael Bay was right in saying that G1 designs are unadabtable to this format and our beloved autobots and decepticons should look like a pile pf scrap metal with no smooth surfaces. I personally find these new scenes of cybertron far more appealing than that scene of Megatron meeting the fallen
