An auction on eBay has surfaced for what is claimed to be a prototype for the planned, but un-released, Universe Menasor figure. The figure was planned to be a repaint of Machine Wars Optimus Prime originally released as G2 Thunderclash.
See the original artwork for the character, by TF artist Dan Khanna, by clicking here.

It's awesome seeing the artwork and that this could be an actual prototype.
Wonder if Counterpunch is gonna buy it?

Sorry d00d, but that image is more likely to have been done by Dan Khanna. (according to the bottom of the page anyway)
Don's style is quite distinctive, even when he was forced to conform to the Dreamwave 'house style'...

That's a huge meh in my book, the original of the mould Turbomaster Thunderclash is ten times the figure MW Prime ever was.

And I hate that Motormaster looking guys are always being named Menasor.

It's the best they can do since they no longer have the copyright on the name...
But, for god's sake, let this mold lie in it's grave...doesn't it have like two points of articulation? It'd be better if they redesigned the backend to merge with the cab...

Fixed (on the main page anyway - if I edit the original post of this thread I'll lose all the URLs for some reason...)

Five different figures? Yes. Poseability? Not what G1 was really known for.
As for this figure, what really kills it for me isn't the brick-iness of the mold, but the exceptionally poor usage of color. So many of Hasbro's pieces suffer from TMCS - Too Many Colors Syndrome. Once you exceed three colors on a mold, it just becomes too garish. This one's got dark versions of blue-green, blue-violet, and red-violet, along with bright yellow-orange and black. That's just too much for my eyes, personally.
DaVinci's rule of three worked back then, and works now. Use three elements (like colors) in proportion: 3 parts of the main, 2 parts of the contrast, 1 part of the accent. 5 is simply TOO MUCH.

This isn’t classics, its Universe, a line that came out a couple years back and consisted of nothing but repaints.

Yeah I know the universe line, I have 5 toys from the line which are all horrible repaints. I just thought now that there's the universe/classics 2.0 that universe wasn't going to do anymore repaints but it seems I'm wrong

Well some characters you have to do as repaints, like Prowl/Smokescreen. Sideswipe/Sunstreaker I was disappointed with at first, but at least they're being clever about it.
But I'd really like to see them just forget all about repaint potential and just do a decent combiner at least once.

I'm really glad this repaint never saw the light of day. Also, I pity anyone who received this toy as their first Prime, or just received this toy at all.
