BotCon 2011 Logo Officially Revealed

Guess I need to re-up. My membership expired on the 5th.

At the risk of a repeat of fan outrage over BotCon finishing off the Classics seekers, I really hope that Animated hint implies the set will include full-size Animated Thundercracker, Ramjet, and Slipstream. A true Wasp would be nice too. Aw hell, they could do a box set of all the human villians and I'd be ecstatic; I really hated seeing Animated go.

I just hope the last tweet doesn't imply they're opening the floodgates to Animated Shattered Glass, since there were too many toyless characters in the real Animated universe to tackle before they start makin' slag up.

And if they're serious about Scrounge...a yellow Legends Cosmos with his tailfin cut off, and a new head?

I may skip out if it's a set of Animated toys. I really love hanging out with everyone at the convention, but the trip out to Cali is expensive and eh...we'll see.

Holy Sh**. That would be a perfect Scrounge.

As for the Animated Toys, if they do a Slipstream I hope there's some real remolding on her, not just a Starscream with a different head. If they can't remold her then I think an Activator Starcsream mold would work better since it has those wider hips. Not to be sexist,but I like girls with some curves on them.

I think it'd be a waste of a good BotCon set (no offense to your idea). I want something distinctive from the box set (G2 Redux was perfect!) and three figures I already own, but this time two aren't shiny, wouldn't do it for me.

I hate to say it but if the theme and box set are animated in style im gonna have to pass this year..I disliked the animated style alot and I don't think I could shell out $350 for a box set of figures I have no intrest in at all..

The latest tweet seems to direct the story back to the ooooooold 3-D comic series. A three-part story that appeared to take place in cartoon continuity, after Rebirth, was panning out to be a rather interesting tale... until it ended after the first issue. Could they be following up on the original G1 cartoon, treating the story from that magazine as a continuation of the fourth season (started by Rebirth)? Might we see Lord Imperious Delirious (love that name) and the Destructons?

I just had Angie Morris re-send issue #36 of my TFCC magazine a second time yesterday.

Apparently someone is stealing my mail. So I called my post office and they have a watch out for it...

BotCon 2011 will feature Transformers Animated...

This was the most recent post from BotCon 2011's Twitter feed. No word yet if that means the set will feature Animated molds or Animated characters, but we'll keep you posted as more information develops.

Well thats a good $400+ dollars well saved for the Iacon package plus the free figure and add on sets. BRING ON 2012!

I know I said I'd rather have toys of unproduced characters than forging a whole new Shattered-Glass Animated universe...but there is one pair of Animated 'Bots that are just begging for Decepticon repaints:

Jetfire and Jetstorm into Darkwing and Dreadwind.

They combine into a larger jet, the G1 idea of Dreadwing would finally have a gestalt robot mode, and they wouldn't even need new heads: Jetstorm looks like Animated Darkwing with his visor, and Jetfire's goggle thing corresponds roughly to Dreadwind's little maroon helmet.

And then we could mix and match with the originals to create Dreadfire and Darkstorm!

Hmm, do I sense a lot of knee-jerk reactions against Animated on the horizon here? Well, all I can say to that is, at least it's not Beast Machines Redux.

Out of all the TF cartoons in this last post-modern decade for the franchise, Animated did the best job of fusing homages with newer ideas, and catering both to kids and us veterans, and built up to the greatest series finale of any TF continuity. At the very least, it deserves its own Botcon set to make up for the toy line getting axed before its time.

If it uses Animated molds, this will be the first set I end up selling.

If it's animated characters in Classics molds I'm good to go.

And they've never done anything larger than Ultra class either. I'd be pretty bummed if Omega Supreme was anything smaller than Leader Class, and even that's just me trying to be realistic. I'd prefer Supreme class or larger.

Animated Shattered Glass anyone? I would love that but by the looks of the red Autobot symbol, I doubt it. Did any of the Animated toys only get released in Japan? Would Botcon really exploit fans by charging hundreds of dollars for toys that can be purchased cheaper? -looks back to 2007- Ah, yes they would.

Yea, I dont think they're about to do new molds. They've always done repaints.
Perhaps omega supreme, but, only if he's based on something else.

I will wait to see if the set features seekers. If not, I will be cancelling my reservation. I was looking foward to hanging out with all the friends I made last year. But California is a little too expensive for animated.

Well, I've been able to take a hiatus from Botcon toys for the past few years, just because nothing has really rung my bell, but this could be what gets me back. Loved the Animated designs, and the idea of having some more really appeals to me.

I imagine the figures will the likes of the TFA Cheetor we've seen. New [to Animated] characters, old molds.
I'm not fond of the majority of Animated figures though, so I don't think I'll be keeping this set. I loved the show though. The figures just don't click with me. X(

Ok. little picky here, I realize that. I said, If It IS NOT a movieverse theme, I will take the trip to the west coast (from the east coast). I may not. I was under the impression that animated got its Botcon Moment with Wings of Honor. The first I recall seeing the "Wings of Honor" icon was with the "Elite Guard". Maybe I'm wacky here. But WFC, Wreckers, War Machines... are just a little more grown up somehow.

In conclussion: meh.

Well its official..I wont be going this year..I have no intrest whatsoever in the animated universe..Kind of bums me out but I guess it was bound to happen. Well at least I get to save up for more important things

TFA saw a full line just like other previous Transformers series, complete with comics and a cartoon. Classics was just getting warmed up, but even Hasbro didn't know what was going on with the line at that time when BotCon would've been planning what their exclusives would've been. I'm pretty sure BotCon would've had to have picked their exclusives around the time that the Classics line was being initially released. I'd still say theirs was a good decision ... and I still own a Thundercracker toy that has never been released at retail ... at least for a few more months. I'd say getting to own a figure 3.5 to 4 years in advance is worth the price of admission.

I'm not in disagreement over the worth (not value) of BotCon and that particular set.

It's just that everything that we've seen as "definitive" has been turned entirely on its head the past year or so. There's no rules as to what we should expect or what Hasbro will or won't do.

Brawl's gonna miss you. Since this *is* the last movie[-verse movie] it's Brawl's last chance to shine. Along with Screamer...Ooh the costumes are gonna be good this year, you'll wish you'd gone just to see us!

Eee. Got me bouncing on my chair in anticipation. It's too bad most folks are turned off by an Animated theme. Remember how G2's vicious colors turned *everyone* off at first? I didn't really like the colors either, though the molds were fairly nice to me (Onslaught's in particular, since I missed the classic release...but I actually wanted the electronics for once). Regardless, I still sold the set, like I'll likely be doing this year.
