If you watched the whole video, you'd hear his bio and how he came in Axiom Nexus, where the story takes place.
And slight correction on my call: it's the same inspiration I was right on, but of course, FunPub had to decide to throw a curve-ball and make them separate characters.
So that would mean that the flashback from the BotCon 2012 comic was this guy, and not the other...

Just to be a total hypocrite, repaint number 10 of Nightstick is pretty cool. But again, more blue. Blue everywhere.

Sure it's a retcon, but eh, it works.

1. RtS Special Ops Jazz
2. United Autobot Jazz
3. BotCon 2012 SG Treadshot (alternate head)
4. BotCon 2012 Kick-Over
5. BotCon 2012 Longarm
6. United Stepper
7. Generations Ultimate Gift Set Autobot Jazz
8. SG Stepper

Generations G2 Jazz is the best use of the mold

Upon revealing the name, at first I was like "HUH?!"
But after seeing the robot mode deco, and hearing the bio, I am interested.
Of particular note is something the bio mentioned about a run in with some GoBots that led Stepper to be sent to Axiom Nexus. This bit of info actually refers to some apocryphal Club fiction. I say "apocryphal" because the story it alluded to has yet to be released. Back at BotCon 2013, the TCC Raoundtable Panel had announced a new text story that was to be called "Spatiotemporal Challengers", written by Andrew Hall, and illustrated by Hayato Sakamoto. This story would have focused on the GoBots who had previously appeared in the TCC prose story "Withered Hope", as that story had left the GoBots plot thread dangling and unfinished. From what little has been said about this story, it was to have had the GoBots having some adventure that would have led them to the SG universe, which we see here being alluded to in this Stepper toy's bio. But as of this typing, the story has still not been released. But hopefully this bio's alluding to it could be a sign of its finally getting put online to read.
Although, I get the feeling that the "Most Wanted" double-meaning title doesn't refer to this guy being "wanted" by the fans (like Packrat and Battletrap were), but instead "wanted" to be made by the Club itself. So this one figure could be seen as the Club throwing itself a bone for a little harmless indulgence. And it really is harmless since, come on, this thing does still look really cool, so it's not like we're getting shafted here as we're still getting a cool-looking figure out of this.

I disagree, it looks like a cheap redeco, even by the clubs standards. There's nothing special about him besides he's SG.

And GDO Wheelie makes 9.
But yeah you're right on the minicon's usage count, forgot about United Stepper and Artfire both having unique versions of the Nightstick mold, and that the Challenge at Cybertron one is a minor variant.

My belief is that flywheels will come in one of the 2 packs. Its a money grab. I never expected both duocons to come in the box set. But im kind of hoping the other 2 suck so even if I have to pay 100 each for the duocons, ill still abe saving money vs. buying the box set.
On a side note, I remember one of these videos saying the "most wanted" theme is supposed to be whats most wanted by the fans...
How many of you guys really really really wanted an SG stepper and a blue rat ?
Posted by Sabrblade on April 16th, 2015 @ 9:22pm CDT
For Packrat, lots of folks actually did think of him as the best redeco for Generations Rattrap, and had wished that Hasbro had put the mold out sooner so that it could have used for Packrat in last year's set, so this one is an idea in demand by the fans.Rated X wrote:On a side note, I remember one of these videos saying the "most wanted" theme is supposed to be whats most wanted by the fans...

As for SG Stepper, I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't until I saw its robot mode deco and heard the guy in the video read the character bio that I took any real interest in that figure. As I noted in my first post response to this revelation, I get the feeling that, based on the video guy's own reaction to the toy, this one was not "wanted" by the fans like the other two have been, but was instead "wanted" to be made by the Club itself. So this one figure could be seen as the Club throwing itself a bone for a little harmless indulgence.
And every set has that one figure that's not as strong as the others, so now that we've gotten this one out of the way, we can hopefully look forward to the last two being better.

It was originally posted as a rebuttal to a claim that this toy retconned the guy everyone thought was a golden SG Ricochet in "Invasion" into being the new-character SG Stepper.Pete@BotCon wrote:Just checked out his page. So. Not a retcon.

For a while, I considered buying the set, but yeah, I'm thinking I might have to Ebay individual figures since the Duocons are the ones I want. I'll wait to see what the last to reveals are.

Why? Why does it matter so much that he's SG? All five of these figures are troublemakers from different worlds. It's only logical to include a representative from the one world that the Club has put more effort into than it has for most of its others that aren't TransTech or Wings G1. This figure is meant to go with the other four in the set just as much as any of them are, as they are a single united team banded together in crime.megatronus wrote:I don't mind the reuse of this mold so much... but seriously, the SG kills it for me.

In the case of Packrat, who else could they do with that mold ? It's not like they had any choices that werent some form of a Ratrap repaint. If they were smart, they would have taken the Waspinator mold, dropped a new head and made Venom. They could have capitalized on Fansproject's failure to finish the foursome.
And SG Stepper has been on Pete's radar for 3 years huh ? Makes me wonder what other Botcon duds were also on Petes most wanted list ? SG Treadshot ? Brimstone ? Metalhawk ? Maybe he is behind Alpha Bravo too.

That's a silly question. Why does there have to be a "Decepticon Stepper" at all? Why can't there just be a lineup of evil-aligned Decepticons?

If they had dropped a new head on the Waspinator mold, chances are they would have made Buzz Saw (another "fan's wanted" figure).Rated X wrote:If they were smart, they would have taken the Waspinator mold, dropped a new head and made Venom.
It was just a placeholder name for the Decepticon-this-Stepper-toy-might-be-in-any-other-world, hence the quote marks.megatronus wrote:That's a silly question. Why does there have to be a "Decepticon Stepper" at all? Why can't there just be a lineup of evil-aligned Decepticons?
I ask what world would you have had this Decepticon hail from because it's part of this year's theme. Each of these five is from some other world than they one they've all found their way into. Packrat's from Beast Wars, Battletrap's from Dreamwave G1, Stepper's from the Shatteredverse, etc. etc.
That's part of the fun when it comes to Axiom Nexus stories. You can take just about anyone from just about anywhere and put them together in a story that's mostly limited by one's imagination alone. It tickles the fancy of those who played with their toys as children in a mixed manner with no regards to series or continuity or franchise or anything, playing with their toys how they wanted to rather than being dictated by the fiction, all for the sake of having fun.
And now we have a fictional setting that takes that kind of play pattern to a whole new level as a loving tribute to it.

Erm, anybody who attended the 3H BotCons... Packrat is awesome and looks exceptional, especially the white fade on his back to represent the original's white stripe from the flip-change gimmick. He is a great use of the mold, something people were hoping to see at BotCon when Rattrap was first announced. I guess if falls on blind eyes for later BotCon attendees

Still besides the point - I simply do not like Shattered Glass. I refuse to go down the rabbit hole of what universe to draw from, because this rule or assumption that each character must originate from a different universe is arbitrary, and in my view does more to limit the possibilities here than expand them.

That Bot wrote:Well yeah, a mirror universe is not a new idea (see here: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... orUniverse). Nonetheless, it's a popular what-if scenario because there's a lot of fascinating possibilities in a world where everything is the opposite of what the audience is used to. That said, I think it works better as a fiction than a toyline, especially since at this point all the big players have been reversed and now they're just reversing smaller characters. Admittedly, though, this is coming from somebody who's not in the Club, has never been to Botcon, and has never read any TFCC fiction. My interest in a toy who is supported by fiction I've never read is minimal, but I can't say for sure I'd feel the same if I was a reader. I don't know if you're a reader or not, X, but either way it seems that Shattered Glass doesn't resonate with you (no pun intended) and I can respect that.
Operative word there being "scenario". In pretty much all other fiction, the "heroes are bad and the villains are good" scenario only hangs around briefly.
Except in Transformers where it keeps getting revisited. And honestly, it was never really a good idea to begin with.
