Hello Members!
Some exciting updates regarding BotCon 2016 Registration!
First, a reminder about some package details. If you register as a Primus package holder, you will receive not just the 5 figure boxed set, but also a FREE additional Deluxe figure. We are excited to announce that this figure utilizes the Combiner Wars tooling and also features a NEW head sculpt that does not appear on any other souvenirs.
Also, the CLASS KIT (and Assembled Class Kit) features an alternative head sculpt that is not available at retail. You can add an Assembled Class Kit when you register.
Finally, per the BotCon brochure, this year's Golden Ticket features a surprise bonus! That item is in fact an alternate version of one of the Legends Class souvenir items.
Take one last look at the Convention Brochure so you know exactly what you are planning to purchase and we will see you very soon in Louisville, Ky for BotCon 2016,10th April 7-April 10!
Thanks for your support and see you in Louisville!

Now normally, it would say, "an all-new head-sculpt", yet Pete felt the need to specify that it has not been used in the US. Of course, it could be clever wording, but that seems unlikely. If we take what has been said literally, we have two non-US heads left, Seeker and Conehead. Combined with the random red jet on Predacus's artwork, this can only mean one thing:
THE ALMIGHTY RED WING RETURNS!!

Except it looks less like Red Wing, and more like Terrorsaur. Although it could probably be used as both for those who would want it for the sole fact of it being another Classics Seeker mold, and not a BW character

Does this look anything like either of those head molds?
EDIT: Where did that rumor come from?

If we don't get Tigatron from Ravage, I'll be right there with you. However if we DO get Tigatron from Ravage, I would need Legends Blackarachnia as Arcee. 01 was one of my personal favorite sets, and having that homage would be killer.

And this to be one of the non-CW souvenir figures:

I think the new Takara Ghost Starscream's head from the Grand Galvatron set would work decently, if that's what you're asking.

Agreed, that deco is an eyesore. All I have to say is that if the GT fig is either the Botcon Arcee homage or Fractyl, I'm going to by 9 kinds of po'd. I've been asking for those items for years.
Reading it again, it says Legends "Class" and not TakaraTomy Legends, which makes my think it will be on the smaller side like Blackjack, Bombshell, and the like.
Posted by gothsaurus on January 19th, 2016 @ 3:22pm CST
I hope it's something gold plated or clear, etc. If it were a unique, awesome character I'd have to sulk for a week.
I'd love a green Fractyl repaint. Mind you, really want a Red Wing from the original seeker mold. If we got a combiner out of it, a green repaint would just look like Acid Storm. Hmmmm. That all gets weird in my head.
The notion of some redux figures along with some new does always appeal to me. I'm open to beast Arcee and Tigatron.
Wonder what Beast Hunter toy they could apply that dragon scheme to that wouldn't be too samey. A redux TM2 style Megatron applied to FOC Grimlock would be a great, appealing toy, too. I'm not opposed to that either.
Posted by Hiro Prime on January 19th, 2016 @ 4:01pm CST
If the remaining BC figs are another Combiner and that combiner would turn out to be Magnaboss, Then I would guess that Silverbolt would be the core (since he's suppose to be G1 Silverbolt) in his BW colors. Add a Prowl CW figure done up like a Sheriff's car (browns) and an Ironhide CW in gray/red and that would take care of the main three. My guess for the remaining limbs kinda stem from the Ravage mold which would make me guess that one of the two left would be Tigatron. If it is, then the last one would have to be Airazor by default. At least those are my guesses.

Just got a clarification on the GT figure from FunPub. It will be a Combiner Wars Legends figure.
It will be interesting to see what mold the use and what character, though. I would like to see Blackjack redone as Goldbug, Bugbite, or Wasp.

It could easily be Wasp as that was animated's precursor to Waspinator, bet that's it
Unless it's something weird, like airazor from powerglide

But remember when the Club said the TFSS Seekers would be the last ever final use by the Club of the Seeker mold?
If this turns out to be either Red Wing or Terrorsaur, or a Terrorsaur who could stand in as Red Wing, I will do everything I can to get one. But, I can't figure out what would be more satisfying: another Classics Seeker figure, or more lulz thanks to the people who take what the Club says as some kind of ironclad gospel and can't not argue you that the Club said something so it must be true forever and ever.

As a side note, is this confirmed to be what was formerly the 'attendee' figure? Or is this just weird wording?
It doesn't say attendees only. Just Primus package holders. So do non-attendee Primus people get it?If you register as a Primus package holder, you will receive not just the 5 figure boxed set, but also a FREE additional Deluxe figure.
According to the Botcon website:
So is this convention piece the figure? Or is it some little extra that isn't an actual figure?BONUS FIGURE: Primus Package attendees will receive an extra
surprise convention piece not available with the non-attending package.
This extra piece will not be sold and is our gift to you for making the trip.

5 CW molds in the boxed set
1 CW mold as the attendee freebie with a brand new headsculpt
1 CW mold as the custom class figure with an "an alternative head sculpt that is not available at retail"
1 CW Legends class souvenir figure, which will have an alternate version of itself included with the Golden Ticket package
1 non-CW "centerpiece" souvenir figure
That just leaves the two other souvenirs, one of which is uses a CW mold, and the other uses a non-CW mold. And either of these could be the troop-builder set.
Plus, one of the non-boxed set/non-attendee freebie figures will feature a headsculpt that has not been released in the U.S. before. This could be any of the souvenirs, or even the custom class figure due to its description of having an "alternative" headsculpt rather than a "new" headsculpt.

You have from now until either 1) they cut registration off or 2) the non-attendee sets sell out. For 1, I'd wager they'll cut registration off mid-March or so, but that's just a guess. For 2, nobody knows when/if that happens but they're good about giving a heads up on social media when sell through starts to hit high percentages.steals_your_goats wrote:So how long will registration be open approximately for the non attendee set? 1 Primus Package and 1 assembled class figure.
Also, some interesting Tweets from the BotCon Twitter:
To clarify on the Golden Ticket figure. It's more than just a minor paint change. The GT Legends figure is cast in different color plastic.
Also, the figure does not tie in to the Convention set theme directly, but it does tie in to the continuity the set takes place in.
Note, the set doesn't take place in the Beast Wars Uprising Universe. Where it DOES take place is quite exciting! Announcement on that soon!
No, the GT toy is NOT a Beast Wars character. It uses the troop builder mold & is tied to a familiar G1 character.
The class kit figure is ALSO not a Beast Wars character. It is a Generation 1 character.
No. But it IS a 1984/1985 Generation 1 character. You definitely should add the class/class kit to ur registration.
Posted by RodimusRex on January 20th, 2016 @ 12:28pm CST
Current club stuff takes place just after the end of G2. Most of this stuff is semi-chronological. So this could be Cryotek hundreds of years before the Beast Wars.
Or maybe they make Cryotek out of Legends Shockwave so Predacus can use him as a gun.

What "current club stuff"? Last year's magazine story was in the Shatteredverse, last year's BotCon comic was in Axiom Nexus, the pack-in comic that came with the Legacy set was post-Beast Machines, and the latest prose story was also in the Shatteredverse.RodimusRex wrote:Current club stuff takes place just after the end of G2.

Aside from Shattered Glass and far future stuff like Pirates vs. Knights, there has been a core storyline to the Wings Universe since G2 Redux.
G2 Redux, taking place post-Rebirth in a G1 toon-like continuity.
Immediately chronologically followed by Machine Wars, where Jhiaxus invades with the clones.
The last we saw of that universe was that the Sharkticons and Sky-Bite had joined the Predacons, who refused to join the Decepticons when the Pax Cybertonia was signed.
And then in Jhiaxus' lab, stasis pods came online, teasing the rise of Predacus in the year 2016 as the Predacons (who at this point are predominantly not animal transformers) prepare for war with the now allied post-G2, post-MW Autobots and Decepticons.
The story does detour into universes and times but the G2 Redux story has been continuous in that we're seeing all the major events more or less in sequence. It's present day in a world where Optimus Prime died in 2005 and the Autobots awoke in 1984.
G2, Machine Wars, and Rise of the Predacus are three consecutive "present day" stories which are setting up the Beast Wars from the perspective of a very late G1 toon inspired continuity.
Incidentally, I could see the Japanese shuttle Blast-Off getting redecoed as a non-beast Skybyte and would not be surprised to see Sideways and other characters like that because the heavy implication seems to be that the Predacus counsil and the Beast Wars Predacons were working for Unicron. (Something about how the Predacus Council seemed to be planted there?)
And that's where all the lines seem to be headed. Devastation hints at Unicron coming. The toyline right now is a trilogy that's going from Titans to city mode combiners and lots of late G1 characters to ??? -- But my money there is on a new Unicron. The comics stuff seems like it could go that direction. All the lines seem to me to be pointing towards Unicron being a focus of the brand in 2017 or so and I think they're leaning towards pinning the dawn of the Beast Wars on Unicron in the club fiction.

Besides, that mold already has a pretooled Megatron head, which is clearly designed after the Transmetal version. Do those colors and it'll look good.

Some more quick notes. ALL of this year's toys have the Combiner Wars branding. A couple of the toys are not Combiner Wars molds though.
Molds utilizing Combiner Wars Deluxe class figures - 7, Voyager class -1, Legends Class -1
So, the new rundown is:
5 CW molds in the boxed set, four Deluxes and the 1 Voyager
1 CW Deluxe attendee figure with a new headsculpt
1 CW Deluxe custom class figure with an "alternative" headsculpt, and who is a G1 character rather than a BW character
1 CW Legend as the troop builder set, and as the GT figure who is a non-BW character related to a 1984/1985 G1 character
1 CW Deluxe souvenir figure
1 non-CW mold "centerpiece" souvenir figure
1 non-CW mold other souvenir figure
And one of the souvenirs (not the centerpiece?) has a non-U.S. headsculpt.
