What's really sad is how many people are going to waste even more money on their poorly executed projects.

Um, yeah, they may be expensive, but nothing CD has done so far comes close to "poorly executed". I've ordered sets 1, 2, 5, 7, and 8, all of which were very well engineered, and well worth what I paid.
Do I need gold-plated wings? No
Do I want them? Hells yeah!

On that note, they'll probably sell like crazy.

And why do you suppose they're telling us this now? Why not ... when they're actually selling him? More dumb advertising from Crazy Devy.

They aren't getting MY money for such an idiotic endeavor, but they'll likely make plenty of cash back from the gotta-have-it addicts.
In this economy? I can't applaud their efforts, but I do say more power to them. A fool & his money are soon parted. If they found ways to do the parting, so be it. Wish I had thought of something so lucratively dumb, so to speak.

It's probably vacuum metalized rather than actually plated, so honestly, this can't add more than $5 or $6 to the cost, if that.

Yeah, might be. But if it is, might make Predaking top-heavy. God I hate figures that are top heavy (ex. Masterpiece Seeker mold w/ hip guards facing back)

Price was not the main issue mentioned but it is a factor when compared to similar items, perhaps you fail to see the point of my comment.
There's no reason to use actual gold on a toy, and execution refers to how they release product not the quality of the product, hence the reason for using that term ; ).
Currently, other third party companies make CrazyDevy's efforts look tacky and completely based on sucking every last dime out of the fanbase for their piece-by-piece releases as opposed to making an entire set to purchase as FansProject, etc does.
I know I'm not the only one who shares this sentiment, nor am I the only person to mention it. It's a bad business model. You want to be better than the competition, not thought of as sub-par. Just my opinion though. Nothing more.

I see your point, I just think you're mistaken. Granted, the gold wings are a bit... ostentatious, but I really can't see how you can call their products "tacky", and I think you're way off base saying they have a bad business model. They're not releasing shoddy, poorly q/a'ed kits (iGear), nor are half of their projects vaporware (iGear again). I don't think your comparison to FansProject works either, given how expensive their sets are. Given how well the Power Parts line has sold so far, I think CD's strategy of releasing small, affordable kits has proven to be a winner.

CD sales are no where near FP sales per unit. Also, FP releases sell out much faster because they are correctly priced and are a COMPLETE product.
As for FP being expensive? Lets compare: $80-90 for a City Commander/Shadow Commander set is the MSRP on many sites. [ eBay's non-sense doesn't count ]. Or CrazyDevy's MSRP of $40 for some lego style mech hands, and an oversized rifle? Really? That's pretty shoddy. And that's only one of many examples.
So you can pay $40 for some hands.... or $80 for an entire set that completes the character. Mind you Devy isn't THAT much bigger than a Classics Voyager Prime.
As for quality releases? You think putting plastic wrecking ball testicles on Movie Devy is really a "cool" product to buy? Lol.

Most of their ads don't give a clear shot of the product. You generally have to leave it to trust or wait patiently for a review and hope you didn't miss out. Lately they haven't even been showing their product, favoring really vague hints at what they might be doing.
I also have an issue with the whole "are they making more?" crap. I'm actually down for buying only the sets I desire. I got all of the Devestator sets becasue I don't have a Devestator with good parts, but others can just get the parts they like. What I don't like is the question on if they'll make more. Will Superion get new hands, or will you have to buy vingige? Will he get new feet? Or anything else? What exactly are they planning for Predaking .... and will they actually do it? Most 3rd party guys show prototypes and you get a clear indication of where they are. Not so with Crazy Devy and it pisses me off.
The prices are absurd, but that's kind of part and parcel of this hobby. HOWEVER, this ties in with the set thing and the piss poor ads. At the end of compiling everything there's a real chance for buyer's remorse. Because you really don't know what you're getting until you get it. Take these wings: if they're really 14k gold, then the prototype pics are all wrong and we have no idea what it actually looks like. We have no full body picture, we don't have any other angles, and we don't even know how they attach.
As for the actual goods, Devestator's actually got good upgrades from them. I really like the look. But, thanks to the flaws inherent in their system, I won't be on board for more non-Devestator products unless they are *really* something special. No Legends Devestator balls, hands, or Predaking wings for me, thanks. I'll take my $100 and buy a full Transformer.

LOL yourself. $40 is BBTS's (inflated) price, the set sold for $30 on CrazyDevy's website. Try getting your facts straight next time. I don't know what "lego-style" is supposed to mean, but what I got were articulated hands that far surpass the look of the 'boxing mitts' that came with Devastator. Again, if you add up the Power Parts sets, which arguably complete G1 Devastator, it's comparable to FP's $130 Snowman set.
And yes, Set 4 wasn't for everyone, but it still sold out, so quite a few TFans obviously wanted it.

Snowman set was originally the same price as the original Superion set, which was about $50 USD, IIRC. The higher prices were TFSource's 'take the last desperate saps who wanted to buy this and suck them dry' prices.
