Greetings, fellow Seibertronians! We have a neat treat for you all today. Seibertron.com forum members -WonkoTheSane- and Mad Project have notified us that YouTube reviewer Ray Siow has published a review of the upcoming Transformers Generations Selects Super Megatron from Takara Tomy. Please note, this review is in Chinese. Ray gives us a look at this new figure, the first ever of the Super Megatron character from the "Battlestars" manga and story pages, the fiction that accompanied the "Transformers: Return of Convoy" line of toys in Japan back in 1991. We get to see Super Megatron in his robot mode, as well as the conversion into Ultra Megatron, and Ultra Megatron Omega, thanks to a face-swapping gimmick, and reversible chest panel, and a few other modular and poseable parts to differentiate the three evolutions of the resurrected Decepticon Tyrant. Super Megatron's alternate modes include a spaceship and a tank, both of which are also apparently very customizeable in appearance and load-out. The Super Megatron Omega face is a reference to Megatron's battle mask in the live action Transformers: The Last Knight movie. This figure is due out in Japan any day now and should be shipping from Hasbro Pulse for U.S. buyers by the end of September 2020. Enjoy the review for yourself below.

Have you already pre-ordered Super Megatron for your own collections? If not, has this in-hand review convinced you to track one down? Let us know in the discussion forum, and as always, stay tuned to Seibertron.com for the latest news in all things Transformers!

its too bad they couldn't somehow fit a star giant reference in there

Really??? With all that struggling the reviewer had to do I hope Megatron comes with a shoe horn. :-P I will have zero intention swapping faces on this Megatron.

Regardless on the what this Megatron represents I STILL SAY the tip of his weapon barrel should have matched the paint on his legs...'nuff said! :VEHI:

That means the screw mount or mushroom peg thos is swivelling on is too tight and needs to be a tick and a hair longer to allow the spin, but I agree with Decepticon Stryker that the premise of the engineering was a beautiful design that should y not be forgotten.

Part of me was starting to regret the pre order. I am not in any way connected to the Japanese lore behind this, but man is this a sweet looking Megatron, and even eithout the face this still gives me "Generations Movie Megatron" vibes and I am back on board for this.

I'm actually excited for tomorrow's TF Tuesday on Pulse, and the next one as well. Since pretty much everything leaked or speculated has been revealed, even if these are toys I'm not interested in, it will nice to be surprised with something new.

I'm in the same boat, I like surprises.

Although, just saying, it would be really awesome to actually have somethink like a SS Selects figure, or even a Cyberverse one. Like maybe a SS Skywarp from Blitzwing to complete the main seeker trio as completely different molds, or one of the Constructicon repaints from RotF, a Nightwatch Optimus Prime, something like that. And Cyberverse wise, how about a Megatron X or Dark Hot Rod?

Is that too much to ask?

I share your excitement, o.supreme. If I'm honest I'm hoping for another Siege seeker or even a 2-pack, but would love to be blown away by something like Black Zarak.

The one thing we haven't seen this year in Selects is a leader figure, so that is a possibility for one of the 2 reveals.

Because selects is aimed specifically towards collectors, I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility to see a SS selects someday. But Cyberverse being the current line for kids, I doubt we'll see something like that.

Unless they have redone that particular pair of joints, don't count on it too much. The shoulder itself houses a soft ratchet, but the connection to the body is a simple mushroom peg on TR Galvatron:

I don't know if it's still a mushroom joint or not, but if it is it's now being pinched in between the front and back halves so there should be at least some more friction there if they haven't built a ratchet into it.

Studio Series is technically a Generations line so it's entirely possible one day. I like the idea of doing the Constructicon variants this way. Plus we're overdue for a Nemesis Prime in the SS line. I wonder if they could retool WfC Earth Soundwave into Bumblebee movie Soundwave? I could also see Nightmare Megatron from the RotF mold, might look good against Nightwatch Optimus Prime.

If Selects does SS I would like a TLK Hot Rod in G1 colors. And even though I wouldn't buy it, a Nightwatch Optimus out of the voyager mold would be nice. And also, IIRC in the 1st DoTM trailer we got our 1st look at Sentinel inside the Ark and he was yellow. I would like to see a yellow variant of his voyager figure as well. Maybe that and Nightwatch Prime could get released in a 2-pack. Those colors go well together anyway.

If a Studio Series Selects line became a thing, above all else I want another shot at Camaro style Cliffjumper.

I was about 10 years old when the 2007 movie came out, I liked the franchise at that point Energon was my introduction funny enough but I do remember watching a little bit of Beast Wars, no Armada but I only became more involved with Cybertron so I was really hyped during the 2007 marketing (my best childhood Transformers memories were the pre-release marketing for the first 3 films).

Cliffjumper came out and was a gift I still have, his doors broke off though but he's in a tub somewhere in my room.

Image

However, I loved the character even more thanks to the Reign of Starscream comic which is a series I really love and personally think is some of the best comics we got in the franchise in general. (Starscream really shines here, Dreadwing and Arcee are also pretty cool here)

Cliffjumper was so bad-ass to child me, and I was always hopeful for his survival since his fate was left ambiguous.

Image

Image

His flashback appearences in other comics just cemented that more, in other continuities I prefer Cliffjumper to be similar but overall different to Bumblebee in physical appearance but in this continuity I really, really loved the two as these bash-brothers even if the idea isn't seen that much overall.

Image

I prayed for his inclusion in ROTF and DOTM, which got to the point where I personally considered Dino to be Cliffjumper (his design screams it by being a red Autobot with a similar enough appearance to Bee, he's not really "Mirage" by all accounts anyways) and still do today much like how I now personally consider ROTF Jolt to actually be DOTM Que due to their similar enough colors and appearance alongside the former's lack of personalty and presence in ROTF even if the ideas are not canon, another more recent idea is TLK Long Haul being the same guy as the Garbage Truck Decepticon from DOTM.

So uh overall 2007 Cliffjumper is actually pretty important to me and I'm still a tad irritated we didn't get much more of him in ROTF and DOTM (in both merchandise and media representation)

Definitely not the SELECTS two-pack I was hoping for (hint hint)

But Cordon and Spinout do look pretty cool. I probably won't be getting these just because I really don't need three Sunstreakers (no matter how cool they look) and my transformers budget is already stretched pretty thin as it is. Cordon is pretty tempting though not gonna lie.

Entertainment Earth is selling Red Wing and although for me the price was about 70.00 dollars Canadian, I made the purchase on him, he's worth 70 dollars to me compared to Ebay listings and other sellers for over 100.

I ain't missing out on my Red boi again.

At the rate we're going, Generations is approaching if not already at mini-mp levels, not every figure mind-you but there are a few that are pretty strong contenders for quality.

Honestly as far as I'm concerned the quality is there in regards to a comparison to the pre-cartoon accuracy Masterpieces cause a lot of those transformations can be copied over to CHUG. That said, if ER Sunstreaker could do what the MP does, then it'd be perfect for me. It kinda does, but at the same time he lost his gun for the supercharger, and the supercharger unfortunately looks horrible in vehicle mode cause it's not really attached any more, so... Monkey's paw wish?

Also, as a side note: When is someone (3p, HasTak, Shapeways) going to make a conversion kit for Sunstreaker to turn him into a Headmaster with a Hunter O'Nion figure?

That RED WING reissue though? Already purchased, I can finally shut up about the Red Card bs now.

That source also mentioned a white Ironworks repaint to go with "the shuttle dudes", which I assume means that Micromaster combiner.

My beef with Spinout and Cordon are the same as with Sunstreaker: The accessory choice is terrible. I'll get Sunstreaker, but I'm sure there will be some kind of 3P accessory set to beef him up a bit.

My issue is that these guys aren't characters, they're just toys. Their history is linked to the Diaclone product line rather than any media. Nothing wrong with that, just not my scene.

On the positive side, that makes me more optimistic for eventually getting Road Rage and Crosscut. Hopefully we'll see Glyph and Tap-out too. Same recolor premise, but they also get love from IDW.

The others could eventually get that same treatment. While, I agree - I also like Diaclone repaints for Diaclone. They aren't on my list to get, but if they do a Delta Magnus (which I'dve preferred from Siege Magnus rather than the upcoming Kingdom Magnus, but either way...) and Road Rage, I'll probably up my collection from merely Exhaust.

Glyph and Tap-Out are buys strictly because of the Valentine's Day special (for me). I never even read any of the other stories.

Spin-Out did get an appearance in a Collectors Club story a few years ago, he was the view point character for a section, his role was a fuel preparation specialist (cook)

So he at least has something as opposed to Cordon who just has a bio.

Edit: Ah it seems "Cordon" got an appearance in some Takara comic so never mind on that

Edit 2: Ah there's also the Sunstreaker clones from IDW, so one could grab the set just for that. https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Sunstreaker_clone

I really like this set and I also like that Hasbro fully acknowledges their Diaclone origins in the description. This really does open up the possibilities of what Hasbro is willing to stick in a two pack. Seekers are a given, but the same car is basically unheard of. Clampdown and Deep Cover (wasn't there a Clampdown rumor already?), Road Rage and Loudpedal, black Ironhide and green Ratchet, I'm probably the only person that wants to see Roulette and Shadow Striker redone (maybe from the possible Road Rage, NOT Arcee). Sky's the limit!

Needless to say I ordered my set.

As for Delta Magnus in Selects, he seems pretty likely. The leaks did reveal an Earth mode Magnus coming in Kingdom and we need some sort of repaint for him. They can't exactly stick him in the Netflix line with battle damage without it getting a little awkward so why not?

That's the one I'm thinking of. I wonder how accurate that leak was? The Netflix line feels a little more fluid to me, like the entries aren't decided until just before they're announced. How else would we explain extensive retools like Soundwave and Bumblebee (and Elita 1) with no battle damage showing up in that line instead of the main line?

Well that whole Deluxe wave that included Bumblebee and Elita was in that leak in addition to Deep Cover and the others, so so far it's fairly accurate.

Probably doesn't help that they're both police, Clampdown's alt mode just shows it more...I just remember that Deep Cover is G2 Sideswipe but in player 2 blue instead of red, while Clampdown looks like discount Red Alert.

I think it's more "the designs are ready for production, but where do we place them". The major reshells were meant for Earthrise more than likely, while the alternate heads were used "just because".

You know, the Netflix line reminds me of the Reveal the Shield part of the 2010 line. the majority of the Deluxes and Voyagers were G1 Characters despite it being a Movie line; it was used more as an "extension" to the concurrent Generations line, like Netflix is to WFC.

The Autobot Clones are supposed to be released in some capacity, right?

I'm thinking that if we get an earth mode Magnus like rumors are calling for next year, we'll get a Delta Magnus out of him for selects next year, to add to the diaclone army.

I've sort of wanted Cordon after discovering in his stories he got that he was paired with someone named Miko, based on the Prime character, and that is enough for me to want him. I can get another Miko partner!

Yes? We don't have any leaks or anything backing them up, we just know that one of the designers during one of the Fan First Fridays strongly hinted they were coming to complement Pounce and Wingspan when asked, and that's how we got confirmation of ER Snapdragon last year when Apeface got announced, so right now a lot of people are speculating that they're going to take up that missing ER number slot (E28).

The Cook with the Battlefield Promotions AND a Countach Dragster Police Car? Done and ordered. Gimmie! I have a close relation to Spinout, I worked in a redtaurant and was "last man standing" so I got all the responsibilities... And the blame. Nobody died though... That I know of.
