BotCon 2012 has announced their third special guest for this year's event, Dan Gilvezan, the voice of G1's Bumblebee.
DAN GILVEZAN began his career in animation as Spider-Man/Peter Parker on NBC’s “Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.” He went onto to perform lead characters in a great many action/adventure shows of the mid to late 80’s including: Slipstream on “GI Joe: A Real American Hero,” Dargon on “Dino-Riders,” Dirk Courage on “Spiral Zone,” as well as everybody’s favorite yellow Volkswagen, Bumblebee, on the “Transformers.” On the lighter side he voiced Cooler, the leader of the “Pound Puppies” for Hanna-Barbera, and the ever put upon Henry Mitchell in CBS’s “New Adventures of Dennis the Menace.”
On-camera appearances have included guest-starring roles on "Desperate Housewives," "Bones," “NYPD Blue,” “The Bernie Mac Show,” “Third Rock From the Sun,” “Diagnosis Murder,” “Sabrina, the Teenaged Witch,” Boston Legal and the cult favorite "She wolf of London/Love and Curses." He has lent his talents to hundreds of TV and radio commercials and is the author of the novel "Drowned in the Grenadine," and "Bumblebee & Me," a remembrance of his time working on the original Transformers television series.

Yeah, I'm gonna try to. I went for both 2010 ans 2011, but I missed the Seibertron.com get-togethers of both years (though, I did get to meet a few members both years).Delicon wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Cool! Another great choice!

I'll be staying off site, though, since I couldn't afford the hotel prices (and so as to save more money for the trip and for toys ). I'll just need to know the when and the where for the get-together.

And to excerize my nerdiness, a correction. Dan Gilvezan voiced Questar in Dino Riders, there is no Dagren as far as I recall.
Sorry, Dino Riders was kind of one of those shows that stuck with me.

Well, if you went to BotCon 2010 we were easy to find, in part due to Ryan's awesome T-shirts.
Drop me a PM or friend me on Facebook (James Lysoby) and I'll make sure you can connect with the rest of the gang.

Dan and Buster Jones will be on hand all weekend, taking part in fan panels, autograph sessions and the meet and greet for Golden Ticket holders. You won't want to miss meeting these G1 greats!
BUSTER JONES first role in animation was voicing the legendary Black Vulcan from "Challenge of the Superfriends." He would go on to voice Doc and Zap from the "G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero" series, Winston Zeddemore from the latter half of "The Real Ghostbusters" and of course the hippest Autobot around, Blaster from the "Transformers."
In addition to Animation work, Buster was also the host of Dick Clark's "Soul Unlimited" and has been involved in the music industry for five decades. This is Buster's first convention appearance and he is thrilled to meet all of the fans who have come to love the characters he voiced through his many years in the entertainment industry.

We are thrilled to announce that the one and only PETER CULLEN will be joining us at BotCon 2012! Best known as the voice behind the wise and heroic AUTOBOT leader OPTIMUS PRIME in the popular 1980s cartoon series "The Transformers" and in the 1986 animated film "The Transformers: The Movie", he reprised the role again for the three Blockbuster Michael Bay live action Transformers movies. He currently can be heard voicing OPTIMUS PRIME in the award winning "Transformers: Prime" series, now in its second season on the HUB network.
Don't miss out on seeing Peter at BotCon 2012! Registration will be available again in the coming days so it is not too late to be part of the greatest Transformers event of the year!

That's pretty epic.
If BW Megatron wins, Kaye can accept the award and they can re-enact the BW scene where he tries to eliminate Optimus Prime, only to be thwarted by Optimus Primal (but they'd need to give Cullen some lines, as just laying there snoring in *stasis* would be a waste of his talent .

If you drop the "Prime" part, that makes it six "Optimuses" (since Garry Chalk voiced two, and Peter Cullen voiced three).UltraPrimal wrote:3 Optimus Primes, 1 Con!

While we know that Peter Cullen, Garry Chalk, and David Kaye all being there will make there be three Optimus Prime voice actors be at this year's BotCon, what if there's more to it than that?
Remember the "Invasion Prologue" comic that we saw on BotCon's website? Remember how, on the last page, there were all those Primes gathered together? What if they're going to do a live script reading of this year's "Invasion" comic and have all three of these guys voice some of these Primes?
Like, Peter Cullen could voice G2 Hero Optimus Prime, Garry Chalk could voice Cybertron "Munky" Optimus Prime, and David Kaye could voice either Leo Prime or Sentinel Maximus. Just have them get Neil Kaplan to come too so he can voice Universe RiD Optimus Prime, and we'll have a full set!
Posted by Delicon on April 10th, 2012 @ 10:57am CDT
Either that or a script reading based on Shattered Glass where Cullen does Evil Prime, how cool would that be?

BotCon wrote:NOTE: The following procedure applies ONLY to Peter Cullen!
Mr. Cullen is very limited in the number of autographs that he can sign at any show. We are very fortunate that he will be attending BotCon this year. In order to be as fair to every fan at the show as possible, and to help you maximize your BotCon experience by not waiting in a very long line for Mr. Cullen, we will be instituting a random drawing for his autograph line. This is how the procedure will go:
1. Mr. Cullen will be signing 125 autographs.
2. Each person who is a registered guest at BotCon will have one entry in the autograph drawing. You do not need to do anything as we have entered your name into a database that will randomly pick the attendees that are eligible for Mr. Cullen's autograph.
3. General Admission attendees who purchase an autograph band will also be put into the drawing, provided that they purchase their autograph band before 11:00 AM, Saturday April 28, 2012.
4. After the list is generated (around noon) we will post it online at BotCon.com, tweet that it is posted and have a printed copy posted on the room-to-room trading board.
5. If your name is on the list, you will need to go to the info booth and receive your autograph ticket.
6. Names will be listed by last name, first name, city, postal code and country to avoid any confusion.
7. At 1:30 PM the line will start for Mr. Cullen's autograph. There is no reason to line up early, as Mr. Cullen will sign for each person in the line.
8. You will be allowed ONE item to sign, please have it out and ready to go when you get to the front of the line.
9. Please move along as fast as you can so that we can get everyone through the line in the allotted time. You can have a friend take your picture during the autograph signing but there will not be time to pose with Mr. Cullen.
10. These tickets are NOT transferrable. We will recheck the names drawn when you get to the front of the autograph line in order to audit that you were chosen in the drawing.

My Cullen autograph scalping ability has been foiled! DAMN YOUS, BOTCON!
Shouldn't the dumbass golden ticket get you an automatic pass into the line?

As to the limit on the number of autographs...I don't know why it is being done, since we're not told. Is it a ploy to drive the demand up? Some cynical plot by the reptilian overlords who have hidden the dinosaurs that mankind used to milk for oil? Or maybe Cullen doesn't want to, or can't (possibly for medical reasons) sit and sign things for hours on end? I don't know, and it's no use complaining about the fact that he'll only sign a limited amount of autographs. The method to obtaining said autograph is fair game, complain away, oh ye internets!

Hufferbee7 wrote:The lottery idea for Peter Cullen is a JOKE! If people REALLY want an autograph let them sit in line for hours waiting...there is always a POSTED cutoff number. If you want to meet him/get an autograph be willing to sit. Yes, it may take hours of waiting, but it you REALLY want it then you will WAIT. This is going to cause more issues then before. People who don’t want to meet him/get an autograph are taking away from people that do because it is nontransferable. I am about done with Botcon, and think smaller conventions is where it is at. Plus if you got a "Golden Ticket," for the $300 extra that should make a person a little higher up then a walk in off the street. It is all about money, and not the collector anymore...it is a real shame.
This....I've never waited in line fore autographs before because it's not my thing...usually I'm the one entertaining people in line, LOL.
But yeah, I'd personally feel bad if my name was drawn because that's one less person who gets the autograph. I'll try and remember to bring my WfC poster or something...Lord knows I keep forgetting to even just get the game cover signed, despite bringing it the past two years AND the HMS guys being available pretty much anytime the dealer hall was open.... hah.
But yeah, sorry to the folks who wait for this sort of stuff. REALLY stinks that it's non-transferrable.

It almost felt to me like some of the animation errors in The Headmasters were done on purpose as some sort of tribute to all the animation errors of the G1 cartoon, in some silly attempt to better fit the two together.cannonfodder4000 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:BeastProwl wrote:Is he going to be handing out pictures of BLUE-ticus?

Almost like the animators were like, "Hey, this show's predecessor was littered with animation errors, so let's make some for our show to make it look more like that show! "
