"The movie-verse feels quite different to me, with its own audience and far more rooted in the real world, and Dinobots wouldn't necessarily be a great fit. Sure, if they could come up with an appropriate rationale and integral reason for them being in there, fine, but it’d need to be good, otherwise it would all start to verge on the kitsch".

That's because IDW only lets him write what they want him to write.Thanos wrote:Furman hasn't written a decent Transformers story in years.

Look Sam is a College student right, they are at the Smithsonian Mueseum, you have the little new robot Wheelie right. Have Wheelie due Holographic Scans secretly of Models of Dinosaurs such as Hound did in Generation 1.
Have them be constructed on a secret US Military Facility or possible at the Hoover Dam where Sector-7 use to be at.
Look they dont necessarily have to be reqular Dinosuars Hell Grimlock good be some Huge Earth Mover Contructicon Vehicle. But Since the Constructicons are already in the movie it would clash alittle so I guess they would have to be Dinousaurs.
Looks they are a gizzillion ways to make the Dinobots fit into the movie and it not going to matter rather or not you have 100 Foot Dino-Robos when we have a Hot Chick turning out to be a Decipticon Pretender.
HMM, which one is the wierder Giant DINOS or a Transforming Girl turning out to be a Decipticon you be the judge of that one.
Cough, Cough can anyone say SARI Rip-Off from Transformers Animated Season 3.
This is just an excuse for them for not wanting to put the Dinobots into the movie.
Overall I am really excited for Transformers 2 just sad too see Generation 1 favs such as the Dinobots get the shaft since they are the most popular of all the transformers just about it and are still very popular today and are in Transformers Animated.
So once again LAZINESS on their part.

In short, the Dinobots track Shockwave to Earth in its prehistoric past. They take on dinosaur forms and attack Shockwave. Shockwave beats them down and before they go into stasis lock Grimlock has the Dinobots ship fire from orbit. A big explosion happens and they all get buried under tons of rock.
Fast forward a couple of hundred million years, an excavation uncovers Shockwave and Dinobots who had been entombed in rock and still in stasis lock all that time.
That is as plausible as a robot boogeyman buried under a pyramid.

Why can't there be robotic dinosaurs on Cybertron that land on Earth? The writers already adulterated the mythology by allowing the robots to turn into anything at will. There are scorpions and robotic cats, why is it a stretch to have other forms?

Ill see what else is going be brought in on the autobots side as it is, they might more than enough help without dragging in the dinobots. Plus since devastor is going be so massive this time around, even most dinosaurs be small by comparsion. Even Sludge, if was true to size of a saurapod(he be like 50-40 feet tall in robot mode) would be only one close to right size fight what was shown fighting prime. Grimlock would be around height of Ironhide in robot mode. Snarl probably be around size of bumble bee, as would swoop. Slag might be about 18-20 feet. This based off the idea they were same size roughly as what they mimicked which been the trend so far.
They'd be fine for fighting all normal troops the cons had in the first movie.(especially if given their own combiner form with sludge as the body since hes the largest. Call it Tyrant or something heh)
We re pretty in the dark for the autobots besides the twins sideswipe and sunstreaker, and Jetfire joining the crowd. If they get some heavy hitters like Omega supreme, Broadside (as an aircraft carrier) superion (which Silverbolt as a concorde wuld be massive heh) then they might be ok letting the dinobots slide this round.
Im confident there be atleast 3 films so no reason to count them out just yet. Of course they could lie to us and grimlock and the gang actually appear in the film haha. I had this funny feelign about that earlier today thinking what if they broguht the dinobots in to fight devastator as they seem to be rivals. Its such an unlikely thing, but who would expect it either. Never know.

I beleive we may have disinformation at work here....
I mean if *insert huge spoiler here* in this film which was pretty much expected to happen, and they managed to get Soundwave in they certain could just drop Grimlock into the action as a big tank or larger truck than prime.
I'd say we still have a lot of surprises to come with this film...don't rule anything out yet

I do think that they could work them in (ala Spotlight: Shockwave) but then, wouldn't we then all just turn around and say "They're not trying hard enough" or "they could have come up with something original!!!11!"?
The truth of the matter is that the TF fans are one of the most rabid/loyal/hardcore of the fan groups out there and it's hard to please us all. I think they've done pretty well and we should see how it goes with 40-odd TFs in this new movie. You just never know, they may surprise us come movie no. 3.
