I have a source, who wishes to remain anonymous, that recently answered questions about the high-quality, ultra realistic KO's status.
Please note that the exact phrases have been changed slightly.

1. Are KO's banned from ebay?
Yes, ebay has taken off all KO Transformers from their auction sites. It is a violation of their policy. 2. Where can I find those high qualities KO's besides eBay? We are not sure; you might try with your regular channel to obtain KO Transformers. It is quite difficult to buy now. And also Hasbro has taken action against sellers to protect their Transformer Intellectual property which belongs to them. Some of the online shops were told to take off the KO transformers, if not Hasbro will take legal action against them. 3. Any new releases for KO Transformers planned? There are scheduled to be releases of Cyclonus, Scourge and Snarl. But with the current situation it becomes uncertain. To date Devastator and Reflector are still available. 4. And the status of Sunstreaker and Wheeljack? No information from supplier. There is a rumor that the manufacturer has a lack of funds, but no confirmation yet. 5. The Future of KO Transformers? With all of this banning on KO Transformers, we are not certain. |
So will HASBRO's actions put the final nail into the KO coffin? It seems likely based on this information, but as the source stated, no one is sure where things are going, but it appears that signs are not good for the KO's future. Maybe, just maybe, HASBRO sees the desire for these expensive KO's and will work to re-establish their re-issue (Commemorative) line in the future, and fill the demand for new collectors to get representations of what are now old, and rather expensive items.
The KO market was making this an affordable way to collect for some, whether you agree with it is something else entirely.
