Anywhoo... Not suprised either. But face it, we are TF-Fans, and we don't care what the score is.

Persoanlly (owning both the PS2 and DS Autobots versions), I don't think that the games are BAD, just not as well-made as they could have been.

The 360 game have so many glitches and I have to agree with the review for instance you have super plasma weapons that are useless.
If I have to recommend one of them I'll say go with the DS versions.

IIRC, IGN beat them to the punch in trashing the game. Their review can be found here:

Could you please elaborate? I have a Wii and was thinking of picking this title up if I could find it cheap.....
Thanks,

First and foremost, the extra $10 for the Cybertron Edition really isn't worth it. All you get is a bonus disk that contains all the interviews that were already posted for download on the game's website and on X-box live. (plus a prequel comic... just buy the tpb for that) Save your $10 and go buy one of the movie toys...
The game: I have played through the Decepticon campaign and about half of the Autobot campaign. I do have to agree that the game is light on content. I played through the Decepticons campaign in about 4-5 hours, and this was doing basically everything, all bonus missions and finding usually 90+ out of the possible 100 Energon cubes on the map. Unlocking G1 Megatron is pretty sweet though, I'll say that. And hearing Frank Welker rendition Megatron once again is also pretty awesome. Yes he does sound 20 years older but it's still Megatron and he rocks. Also playing as Barricade is pretty fun. On the other hand, playing as Scorponok sucks hard. They really can't say they playtested that part of the game, and if they did, they need new testers. The controls are a bit awkward at times, especially when playing as Megatron and attempting to fly through the city. He is not able to ascend above roof level (why?) and if he comes in slightest contact with any building he immediately transforms back to robot mode. Also, as stated in Gamespot's review, you are given these (supposedly) awesome weapons, yet seldom are you able to use them, particularly if playing as the Autobots. Some of the unlockables are somehwat cool if you are an uber Transformers geek (if you are reading this webpage, you probably are). Some photos from movie production, various comic covers from the various incarnations of G1 comicdom, and of course the G1 Models and repaints. Also the appearance of Shockwave as a moviefied villain is somewhat cool (though not as cool as it could have been if they gave him more personality and a little dialogue).
I would give Transformers a 7 out of 10 if it weren't for one major problem. The game is defective. I haven't read if anyone else had this problem or not but usually if I play Transformers, then return to my Xbox dashboard, I can't start Transformers back up. It just won't happen. I have to eject it, put it back in, let the game decide my 360 is a regular DVD player not capable of running 360 games, eject it again, put it in again, and play. I have never ever had to do this with any other 360 game. So because of that, I too must give Transformers for the 360 a 6 out of 10. I will argue though that if you are a diehard Transformers fan it is worth it probably to pick this up, even if you wait until it's in the $20 bargain bin. It's better than Transformers: Tatakai : )

I havent hear of this problem untill now. Either your 360 is going or the disc is defective. Try exchangeing the game for another ans see what happens.

This is the first good thing about the PSP version I've ever heard!
I have a reason to buy it now!

Can you be Skydive/G1 Starscream in one player? I'm gonna get them from Target tommorrow, and I'm just wondering if they're Multi-player only.

No, I've played it before. I rented it for the Wii to see what all has changed, and it's better than before. Graphics have been polished (Well, as much as they could) and it has the PS2 Ada Wong missions too!
EDIT: Needless to say I'm buying it tommorrow when I have to return it to MovieGallery

Another I have is the police and military attack only the player's character and not the opponents. You'd think they'd go after ALL of the giant robots but they don't...only the player. This would make sense in the Decepticon missions but as of yet I haven't played those.
Otherwise I am thoroughly enjoying the game as I get frustrated, throw the controller, say a few 4-letter words and pick the controller back up to do the mission again for the umpteenth time. The Cybertron mission in the end was the easiest once I figured out that some of the drones had to be knocked down. Now if they had only incorporated some elements from the Armada game plus unlockable characters to play as well as not having set characters for certain missions...

-First, I'm also having the loading problems somebody else mentioned earlier...but as soon as I get an Autobot emblem flash on the screen everything's fine....sometimes takes about 5-10 min. & about 17 restarts....
-The gameplay itself is pretty fun, but any robot aside from a weak drone blocks any sort of gunfire, making your guns & missles solely useful for environmental destruction(or in some rare cases getting the Heroic or Evil skill awards).
-finding the last few energon cubes are a pain in the arse, as oftentimes you can continue sweeping the same 3 buildings 15+ times & only then manage to get a glimpse of one by looking at the same building from an obscure angle.
-Physics are pretty sweet for the most part. One thing I noticed is that if a fire starts in a small corner of a building, it will actually start spreading to other parts of the building, & I believe in some cases it will actually spread to surrounding buildings, which is pretty cool & adds to the destruction.
-Sometimes mass hysteria can be caused without you actually having anything to do with the situation. I've actually had it a few times where I was sitting up on a building, minding my own business, & then down below a couple of cars will crash into each other, resulting in a huge pile-up, buildings being destroyed, lamp posts or train tracks falling into the street, causing more chaos, & eventually police, helicopters, & finally military all showing up to blow the sh*t out of the innocent robot just watching.
-G1 Prime & Megs are pretty neat extras, but I'm almost afraid they were put in to show people how silly & quirky their designs are compared to the new ones.....by using semi-crappy versions of them. If you look at them, you'll see what I mean. You can see Prime's head sitting in the cab in vehicle mode.
-Scorponok sucks unless he's underground. Otherwise they should have just painted a bull's-eye on his back. The submission where he has to find all the gears on the military base...I've yet to beat, because I get halfway done & all the helicopters blow the sh*t out of him.
anywho, that's my $0.03. I do think some of the reviewers, though, are being a bit harsh, & probably instantly dropped it's score a couple of points based off of the fact that movie games tend to suck. I'd honestly bet that if it weren't for that, it would have got a better review....maybe not.

I have the DS games, and they are fun, if not brilliant games, but are more than adequate to pass the time. Have not had a chance to play the PS2 version, and will probably wait to get the Wii game cheaper later on.

Still, just the ability to play these figures is apealing enough to me, and as I suck at games, maybe a 3 button pattern is just as well.
To be honest though, I'm waiting till I can get a PS3 before I get this, so come on bad reveiws, drop that price!

i have it on import for the PSP and it is by far the most boring game i have ever played, the missions are to linear and the final mission is ridiculously hard. thumbs down from me, i strongly recommend against it. (although movie version shockwave is very cool and wish he would make an appearance in the next movie).

That and its easier to obtain computer versions if you have the right... sources...

Most Movie games are lacking, I agree, but you get so much that makes up for story content. I attribute this game to that of "Star Wars Episode One Pod racer", though hardly any story, it was a blast non the less. And the unlockables are sweet!! The cybertron edition has an extra unlockable level where you have a mission on Cybertron, so keep on playing and when you unlock it, you'll see why it's worth it to see the movie rendition of the Cybertronian Home world!!
the DS version and PSP versions are fun as well..
Over all as a Video Game designer, I give it 8 out of 10. Considering the time constraints, because they had to work closely with ILM, and as we know the movie designs kept being revised, and what they gave us, I can live a little without the extra story content.
I mean this is their first landing on our world, the movie and game should be more about the first initial battles and not about the story so much, leave that to the sequels, and game sequels.

I have the Cybertron version, & personally, I like it, but the extra unlockable level isn't as great as it sounds....because you know they give you that code on the comic to access it, but what what you end up "unlocking" is actually just a cheat code, & the game recognises it as such & will not let you save your progress in your game untill you boot it up again without using the cheat...so while it's neat to mess around with it a bit early....you might as well wait untill you beat the game on either side & just unlock it that way.Maximal Primal wrote:I am in game design and development here in Cali, and I gotta say that the Transformers Movie game isn't all that bad as those game site critics like to say it is. They have an over whelming sense of whats good and whats horrible. Don't mind them, with a few exceptions, I can definitley recommend this game for the Transformers fans. It has full in game transformations, a semi destructible city environment, and yes though story content is lacking, its really all about the playability of your favorite characters.

You did make me curious, though, do other versions of the game still have those extra 2 Cybertron levels, or is it just that the Cybertron edition has that added cheat code that lets you access them early?

ok, I have a friend who bought this game and it is actually fun for a while, but it starts to drag on and gets kinda dull. But I realize everyone has different standards for entertainment and mine are very high, but it seems good for a rental. I just dont see myself paying all that money for a game that I would only play through once. But thats just me AnD I aM cOmPLeTly F****eD iN tHe HeAd.

lol, hello dude.
Personally i was expecting much worse review scores (not that i care what critics say anyway) i was expecting it to go down the lines of Supersuck Returns, and getting a 4. At least 6 is above average, and more than enough to warrent a purchase for us hardcore TF fans.
