Preserve: At Toy Fair this year, a Classics 3.0 Drift was shown. Has a redeco/retool been planned for this toy at this time?
Hasbro: Yes, we have planned a redeco for this item. So to beat you to your next question, it will be Blurr. We have tooled up a new head and weapons for him and let us say, he looks awesome!
So all Blurr fans can already look forward to a new Blurr!

This better not be an elaborate April Fool's day prank on Blurrz (otherwise, I'm gonna cry too).

Wow, it's been like two months since my last post! So, I can say I'm back. Don't worry, felow Seibetronians, Autobot-Jolt has been keeping up with all the news; I've just been too lazy to log in and post anything.

Hmmm, I wonder where Blurrz is?
Posted by Sodan-1 on April 1st, 2010 @ 12:42pm CDT
I can understand where they're coming from, but I've always preferred the distinctive, pointy nosed, Cybertronian racer form for Blurr. Still, if the robot form looks good, I'm onboard.

An unexpected straight answer from the company we all love to hate despite their best efforts, and a repaint of a figure not even released yet!
I guess if this is indeed true, and they answer questions this direct this honestly, we need to ask more like this.
After all, they do like to have any new head molds created at the same time as the original tool, as we learned from Cybertron Scrapmetal.
If they don't have a repaint planned with a new head... No dice I guess.
*Funny, I thought they were not going to answer questions about whether they would repaint this mold into this or that character.*
HASBRO!!!!! You played us for a buncha' sucka's.
Well worded to get past the 'ol HASBRO key word sort.

I see him lurking.
And no I don't think this is an April fools prank, as this was posted yesterday on the original site.

That's the thing isn't it? It seems strange for Hasbro to just come right out and tell us the repaint of a figure that has yet to even be released, especially when they supposedly weren't taking questions pertaining to individual figures or molds.
On the other hand however, the time of the post was 5:24 PM, March 31st. Seibertron just happened to post the news today, April Fools Day. It could be the site trying to pull one over on the Fandom, but given the time and date, it doesn't quite make sense. Early April Fools pranks are nothing new of course, but they are generally looked down upon even more than those actually taking place on the first.
Latsly, it could be Hasbro messing with us. But why choose this question? It seems to me that they would pick a much more wanted figure, like a new Omega Supreme, or a new Soundwave. I've not heard of anyone wanting a Blurr repaint of Drift. It's a rather strange choice for a joke.
I just don't know... If this is real, it's super great news. But despite the evidence, my bull-shit alarm is screaming that it's fake...

If they had said Omega or Soundwave, it would show that they really don't think much of our intelligence. I don't think anyone would fall for that one on today of all days.

And the news post said they tooled up new weapons also. I assume this means that Blurr will include guns or some other type of weapons instead of the 3 swords Drift will come with.

Clearly you haven't been around actively lately. Drift's aesthetics are very similar to Blurr's in the IDW-verse. I've called the Blurr repaint when Drift was in talks in April 2009. I've foreseen this repaint since the dawn of Drift's existence.
Hell, I guess I'm so fast that I can foresee the future..

I love the look of the Drift mould, but hate the entire basis of the character, so if they repaint it into a 'real' character such as Blurr, it becomes a must-have.
I would have thought the logical remould/repaint would be into Wheeljack, but maybe two white robots from the same mould is a bit much.

Is that some hopeful thinking I hear?
Still, even if they do look quite similar in the comic, you gotta admit that it's a big coincidence for them to show it today of all days, along with it being kinda soon. Don't they usually wait to see how well a figure sells to do that?
Not that I wouldn't love to have an awesome Blurr repaint of this. It'd give me that excuse I was looking for to get two of these.

I have to agree. Drift looks very cool, but I'm not a fan of him in the comics. I'm glad there's a new G1 character and all, but I really just don't care for Drift as a person. Sunstorm was the opposite for me, I loved Sunstorm from the right away.
All that being said, I like the look of the toy, and will hopefully end up getting both Drift and Blurr. I think it'd be cool if the Blurr redo came with another Targetmaster like Cyclonus did. Not sure how feasible that's going to be for the mold, but hat's my hope at least.

It was posted yesterday, why would that site pull an april fools prank a day before 1. April and ruin their own Q&A answers?
Besides this wouldn't be the first time Hasbro decided to do a re-mold repaint while working on a mold, remember Universe Sideswipe and Sunstreaker?

Because the joke lasts longer? Iunno, I've gone several years in a row where April fools pranks were played just before fools' day only to reveal the truth on the 2nd.
Dead Metal wrote:Besides this wouldn't be the first time Hasbro decided to do a re-mold repaint while working on a mold, remember Universe Sideswipe and Sunstreaker?
Admittedly yes, but the plans for the brothers were simultaneous, thus we knew well ahead of time that we were getting them both.
With all that in mind though, I more or less expected someone to make a custom IDW Blurr out of the Drift mold if Hasbro didn't do it themselves, so... meh.

Maybe it is just me but I cannot see it.. Too much kibble, Blurr was streamline with not much kibble. The animated Blurr hits his essence right on the head.
My opinion of course.

I agree with you... I can see the Classics Rodimus looking closer to being a blurr more than Drift. Give Rodimus a new head and slight remold of his wings and paint him blue LOL... but I'm not complaining. I hope it turns out sweet!

Aye, you're right about that. Its been waaaaaaaaay to long since I posted, let alone followed any Transformers news lately.
As for the comics, I've pretty much stopped reading them. Even as early as April of last year. Too pricey to keep up with. Occasionally I'll pick up a Spotlight collection, but I've had to set aside comic money for other things, such as appliances for the new apartment, furniture, etc. I thought about starting again with Ongoing but I've heard so many terrible things about it. And despite how awesome I hear LSotW is, I just haven't gotten around to it...
I don't want to get embroiled in any long story arcs right now anyway, so LSotW seems like a good idea, but I don't know. Kind of off-topic, but what do you guys think?

Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are a terrible example. If your going to make one of the Autobot brothers, then you're going to make the other. It would be like Bumblebee without Cliffjumper.
And c'mon. New paintjob, new head mold, and new weapons?
I'm sorry, but believing that Hasbro would do all that just so we could get a Blurr? That's just ignorance.
Besides, the info still came through PGP.

Also, Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are great examples.
