Well from your other posts I can tell you're getting the UW set and you strive for cartoon accuracy over anything else.
I guess all I could really recommend for you in your case would be Vortex because the colours on UW Vortex look a little... weird in their placement, and Swindle because who doesn't want a standalone non-combined Swindle
Honestly I have all the CW Combaticons aside from Vortex - and even then I've got Alpha Bravo who is literally the same in every way aside from colours - and they make a wonderful little unit. The only real problem to me is Blast Off's head. It's also fun if you have a lot of spare weapons lying around and you can really militarize 'em; I gave Classic Optimus' smokestack gun to Swindle and it somehow works really well, and the smaller Leader Thundercracker guns to Blast Off. Then I put Blast Off's normal gun as Swindle's arm cannon because his usual weapon is way too dinky... I dunno, I just really find throwing a ton of weapons onto the Combaticons really fun.

If you can get the full combiner (4 deluxes and a voyager) for 60$ I say yay. He is a fun combiner with a very diverse team. But since more are redecos including the laziest one of all, I dont recomend getting him if he costs you more than that.

Just got some information on this, the 1st release of this figure was basically only made available to Toys R Us and Hasbro everyone else was allocated ridiculously small numbers. We are going to do our best to get it in so if you want to get it from us keep a close eye on the site this week and we may have it in a small quantity. But good news is we are getting a ton of them in for the second release in October where there will be no shortage in quantity and it will be less expensive than this time around.
This wide October release was hinted at with preorder listings from Entertainment Earth but now we have a confirmation that it will be for every retailer carrying this figure. The comment on Toysrus is interesting, and it could mean that Toysrus will have a prioritized "early" release of this toy though there are only a handful of days left in May, so I would take that with a grain of salt. What is important here is the reassurance that everyone who wants a deluxe Groove will get one. Now the question collectors have to ask themselves is whether or not the current inflated prices are worth getting this figure now rather than later (rather than it being an assurance that they will get the figure at all). The good news is that those who do not want to pay inflated prices do not need to and Groove will indeed be as wide a release as Quickslinger and Breakneck were, only in October rather than in May.
Let us know how you feel about this on the boards and what you will be deciding as your course of action to acquire this figure. Which is more painful, the wait to get this figure at its regular price, or the possible regret of spending about 10$ more than the price it will eventually be available at?
We invite you to take a stroll down Seibertron's gallery of Groove while you ponder this decision.

Nice! Way to stick it to all the scalpers
This is exceptional news, I will gladly wait until October to get one if I can't get one for a fair price before then, can only hope this is actually true, and doesn't end up screwing over us fans who are patient.
So does this mean that hts is likely not going to get an early allotment?

I actually like the colors of UW Vortex. But I agree about Swindle.
Don't mind the Hasbro Blast Off even though a better headsculpt would've been nice...
I'm really only considering this because I've already ordered a Hasbro Onslaught from TFSource, and the price is right at HTS.
WJ88-- The price would total around $80 before shipping from HTS... If that May code still works, that won't be too much anyway.
With more than half of my collection, I have one opened, and one MISP figure...
Although I'm not really doing that with CW or UW... That's just too much $$$ plus I'm getting what I want as is.
I have both versions of Menasor... Which I'm okay with, and think it was the best option of any of them because of how awesome UW Motormaster is imo.
The only limb figure I don't really want the Hasbro version of is Brawl...
Does it make sense to only get 3 of the 4 though???

Well, I wrote to them as an interested customer (which I am, I would buy from them if I could) so I dont see why they would lie to a potential customer. I will be waiting, unless I can pick it up at toysrus for the retail price.

A lot of the later version brawls have no issues, he ended up being my favorite limb of the set, my swindle is fraught with miss-measurements, so he'll forever be a disappointment to me, and Onslaught is a joy to transform - I have no idea why

Just airing my concerns, I doubt its a lie, but something could always happen, but if they've produced that many figures, they'll have to be sold somewhere at some point

You're always trying to sway me into more purchases... First Defensor, now Brawl! Haha
So you would just pull the trigger for all 4???
edit: I don't have Alpha Bravo, and I'll only have 1 more of the Hasbro Blast Off mold once I get UW Superion.

Hmm, if you have to money to spare for 'em, I guess I might, maybe just get Blast-off then, he's so great - and looks gorgeous, otherwise, I guess I'd hold off on them

I have the unite warriors version on pre-order and still bought Hasbro blast off and vortex because of how different they are. The others are different but not enough to warrant getting as well.

Bot modes-- Hasbro Onslaught and Swindle, UW Blast Off, Brawl, and Vortex.
Combined Brut-- UW Onslaught and Swindle, Hasbro Blast Off, Brawl, and Vortex.
The $$ isn't a real issue... But as I've said before, I get buyer's remorse so stupid easy...
edit: now I'm thinking I'm either getting all 4, or none of them...

I'd hold off on getting the others then and just get Blast-off, unless you definitely want another set to display separately, they're really nothing special

I was periodically checking amazon and HTS the last few days and saw he was available on amazon (from amazon, at regular retail price). I managed to order him, he was available for about half an hour after I got my order in. Now it's just third party scalpers.

Heres what I did:
I was gonna get the UW version but I didnt get the order in time for the preorder at the best price for me. So I was gonna wait till he was in stock and hopefully the dealer I want to buy from would relist him. But then I was able to buy Hasbro's for 46$ USD (including taxes) so I just abandoned thinking of getting the UW and got Hasbro instead. If I had UW on the way, I wouldnt buy the Hasbro version unless he was obtainable for that a price as low as what I paid. Defintely not for 80$ thats for sure. But I might get the G2 version instead. Like that I have the G1 deco one from Takara and the Hasbro version in G2 colours. Different enough to warrant a purchase of either version.

Oh I know you are concerned, so I am just trying to in return give some more assurance
And it aligns with the entertainment earth preorder which is still available. That pretty much confirms that they will be having limitless amounts come October. The scalpers can only make money now (even the scalper price on Amazon has lowered).

But since I was getting him anyway (and he's already paid for), I can live with that price for the other 4.
WJ88, While I prefer the look of the UW version, I don't fault you at all for going with the Hasbro version-- that's a sweet deal.
I'm also not bothered by getting Groove from EE for $24 (with shipping).
Isn't $17.99 only $3 more than retail cost?
I won't doubt if he's easy to get in October, but I was all in on making sure I got him, so I'm really okay with that decision.

No need for rainchecks, it was available for anyone last week:
so 8.97X4 + 14.97 = 50.85
50.85X 1.15 for tax = 58.47
$58.47 cdn = $45.07 US
Of course, this was that same store the next day so you had to act quick:

Thanks for understanding I preffered the Onslaught and Blastoff deco on Hasbro's so it was a win win.
And 17.99$ is pretty much ballpark retail. I consider it retail, thats the same "price" at my toysrus (different "cost" when considering exchange). The way I see it, you got him for the best price possible

Same here. He has a great torso mode though, and I thought that was worth 15$ so I didnt mind that.
But yeah, with no exageration this is one of the few updates which is not as good as the G1 toy. I'm still a fan of all of the car Autobots from the Universe 2.0, Generations, and RtS lines.
I just don't think you can beat those versions of the Datsun bros, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, and even Kup and Warpath.
Actually, Classics Bee and Cliffjumper are tough to beat as well.

I started collecting and being on these boards in 2014, but I was very much into transformers 20 years ago as a kid. The Dragons from Beast Hunters inspired me to get back into it since Beasts were back. And then I realized I actually preffered collecting vehicles haha.
Anyways, my Toysrus still has the RID warriors for 19.99$ so its not like we are out of the woods either. And the titans return deluxes will probably also be 19.99. I think this is just a sale to make room for the upcoming stuff. Which worked, their online warehouses are now fully depleated.
As for Shockwave, I have a raincheck to get him for 5$ before taxes
He just has to show up first
Also Groove will never be in stores, he is online exclusive. So as I said, you got him for the right price. I'm just waiting for other stores to have their october preorders.

FOC Soundwave/Blaster. Cybertron Soundwave also ain't bad, and neither is Music Label
Also, what's wrong with RTS Perceptor?

I like all those toys just fine, they just don't quite hit the mark on the cassette gimmick. The new TR versions feel like they are handling the gimmick much better though. Can't wait to find out.Kurona wrote:Cobotron wrote:Every Soundwave/Blaster update?william-james88 wrote: Are there any other TFs whos updates arent as good as the originals? Oh wait, what about Thunderwing and Perceptor?
(I put a question mark because I'm mulling it over as I type.)
FOC Soundwave/Blaster. Cybertron Soundwave also ain't bad, and neither is Music Label

After I opened the box I realised I was glad I had bought it so cheap. I really like this character but I was a little let down with it in hand. I will use it in my IDW display and keep using my Takara reissue for my classic display.
Same here. He has a great torso mode though, and I thought that was worth 15$ so I didnt mind that.
But yeah, with no exageration this is one of the few updates which is not as good as the G1 toy. Fort Max seems to be that way as well, along with Powermaster Prime (unless they do get godbomber to combine with him). Are there any other TFs whos updates arent as good as the originals? I cant think of too many aside from cheetor

I meant updates to the G1 toys.
I thought you were comparing the CW Skylynx to the original, so I didn't see a difference in comparing updated figures from other lines to the originals...
???

Yeah, I was comparing updates to originals in saying how they were inferior. Meaning that the G1 version is still the best. I was asking which other G1 toys were still unbeaten by their updates. Maybe we got our wires crossed, but its all good.
Kurona wrote:Also, what's wrong with RTS Perceptor?
Nothing wrong, but I dont find that he outdoes the G1 version, which has a lot more playability and a working microscope.

Every update to Soundwave is not as good as G1? So like, including this guy:
Transformers Masterpiece Soundwave Gallery

You do realize I was waiting for you to pull that question out of your little hat, Billy m'boy.
I don't consider that version an update. To me update implies a new stylistic or artistic take on an older version. MP SW is more of a re-imagineering of the original toy. Looks just like him. Transforms just like him. Only better.
The main problem with the Jam Box bots is that the "cassette" is such an antiquated technology, that it's lost all relevance.

Interesting, but then does that mean that none of the upcoming headmasters are updates since they all transform and look the same way as G1?
And yes I do realize that, but I wasnt going to let that lure get away

Oh, indeed they are!Hellscream9999 wrote:Still, those mp cassetticons look like quite the treat
No. I find the designs of the TR toys to be very stylistically/artistically different than their G1 predecessors.william-james88 wrote:Interesting, but then does that mean that none of the upcoming headmasters are updates since they all transform and look the same way as G1?
Would that be considered friendly trolling? And yes I do realize that, but I wasnt going to let that lure get away

So these look less like their G1 Counterparts
Than this toy?
Is that your final answer or do you want to ask the audience?
PS: Friendly trolling right back at you

I still think the best move would be a 4-pack with Quickslinger, Break-neck, Big Groove and Space Mission Blast Off.

Billy JIM wrote:Will's question
To me, yes.
I can see that the G1 HM and the TR HM were drawn by different artists. They are made to be similar, but different design choices were made. TR repeats shapes in an effort to evoke, and/or homage the G1.
Now, of course, we know that MP SW was drawn by a different artist, but that lines soul purpose is to be as close to the toy/cartoon model as possible. MP SW repeats shapes to replicate the G1.
To my eye, anyway.
