I wasn't gonna watch it cos like many Studio folk i already got Grimlock a while ago but I watched anyways and it was fine for a brief 1 minute video. That VSP one seems like a funky G2 toy but obviously with massive amounts of detail and articulation.

I did ask if the torso all tabbed in nice and secure (since I have had issues with all previous voyager Ironhide figures) and he says it does so that's cool. It's really just that darn bumper letting it down but overall I'm very keen to add that figure to my Studio collection.
Taking me a lil time off internet for a few days cos I ain't coping so well with some things. Ironhide's what kept me checking internet stuffs today but I now seen the review and got the info I was after it's time for a break. Have a great weekend, peoples.
Before i go here's a lovely quality photo of the figrue with the chest transformed properly (something that looked off in the photos from the past few days). Looks way better. Credit again to PrimeVsPrime

Showing up in his Voyager class size and arm cannons, Ironhide's review is embedded below from the post made on our Energon Pub Toy Reviews section here, and includes a look in both robot and GMC topkick truck mode, plus comparisons with the likes of Bumblebee, Jazz, Optimus Prime and Ratchet. Check it out, and let us know what you think about this latest addition to the line!

He looks good, and im glad they compared him to DotM Ironhide at least so I can gauge the size (smaller, which means WAY smaller than the movie 1 voyager I already have and will probably scale terribly with RotF leaders and BB Bumblebee ). Probably would still look good with BB OP, at least.
Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on June 15th, 2018 @ 4:51pm CDT
Studio Series Ironhide is meant to scale with the other Studio Series toys in robot mode, so it's only natural he'd be dwarfed by the ROTF Leaders.
For those feeling like SS Optimus is a smidge too small, there are a couple options. Battle Blades Optimus - he's fiddly and complex to transform, but being barely a head taller than SS Optimus he would still size decently with the others in the line. DOTM Mechtech Voyager Optimus is the other. He's between SS Optimus and BB Optimus in size, and would seem to be less fiddly (don't own him myself. I don't own BB Optimus either but I do own his big cousin, so I have a pretty good idea what he's like), though he does have somewhat stylized robot mode proportions, the DOTM chest, and those giant tanks.
Posted by Spider5800 on June 15th, 2018 @ 5:25pm CDT
Like you said, the DotM leader is just too tall in robot mode, and while I like my movie 1 voyager I was hoping this would be so definitive that I would just HAVE to pick it up. This looks good, but if it doesn't scale with RotF leader Prime, I just don't need it, unfortunately.
Still have hope for the line (picked up several already since they were massive improvements over other toys or new characters), just a minor letdown for me.

That's my feeling too. BB Optimus Prime (Movie Advanced "Revenge" version) is my Prime for my new Studio Series collection. The actual Studio Series Optimus Prime is just too small and has too many flaws for me in terms of sculpt, detailing, and even color choices.

My only gripe is that ridiculous bumper. It definitely need hinges to cut off the "smile". I'll either mod it myself or some Shapeway dude will do it.

Well, I don't know much of anything about you.
But that statement confirmed that you sure as heck aren't someone who sells G1 accessories on eBay
That jab aside, I do think paying $20 for a gun is quite alright... if it's a really big one or a fancy/3P upgrade. Like one of the Cubex buster guns (normally sold as a set that costs $40, so..) for ROTF Leader Prime, or a discount on the replacement for ROTF Leader Megatron's aformentioned mess of a right arm.
I may be rambling to distract myself from things..
Has anyone done a step-by-step transformation photoshoot of Studio Series Megs yet? I looked through the whole of this thread and don't think I saw one here.

I'm returning them
Jazz is awesome in both modes. Posable, detailed, fun but not complicated to transform, and excites me for what they could achieve with an MPM.
Lockdown, almost gets the same praise. His design is of one of those kibble'less Movieformers, so his added bulk and kibble makes him feel a little inaccurate. However, he's miles ahead of the AOE mold, and has some incredible sculpted details in bot mode. He looks fantastic. Transformation is a bit of a pain though. Fitting his hood to his shoulders isn't easy.
So why am I returning both? Jazz, for the life of me, I cannot get one side of the car mode to panel together flush. It's incredibly frustrating and I want one that actually fits together. Lockdown does the same sort of thing (not quite as bad) but then, broke while I was working on these pics! The bullet thingies on his shoulders, one of them snapped off while transforming him. To be fair, after examining it I could quite simply glue it back into place without hurting anything on the figure, but since his car mode doesn't fit together I'm also going for a new one like with Jazz.
It's really unfortunate. These are both amazing figures, but I got two lemons. I am absolutely getting a new pair and hoping for better results. These two are the most impressive to date, and Jazz might be my favorite SS so far! Still recommended!

He's even tougher than the leader simply because all that level of complexity is brought down to a voyager scale. Its freaken mental. Also, now that i finally own BB Prime I was surprised to find out that it is a completely different mold than the leader. Sure there are a few similarities but it was different enough to feel like a totally different toy, even moreso than the MPM we got last year.

Also, Shajaki... Considering that you broke Lockdown after removing him from the box, you might have a hard time returning him.

Not in canada. customer satisfction is a big deal here. And how are they to know when lockdown broke, could have been broken like that from the get go. Plus worst case scenario, he can write to hasbro and they send him a new one and regardless of waht it is, Shajaki can bring that new toy to toysrus and get his money back for lockdown.

Satisfaction from stores in the USA is a bit harder to get, probably due in part to people abusing the system (and in the process, the employees) so much..
It's kind of a shame to see quality control issues like this after the brand unification... Hopefully they'll diminish with time.
Something I forgot to comment on last night:
That gap in SS Megatron's torso (which I learned about reading through the thread).. Personally, it doesn't bug me. It's decently camouflaged, and I'd rather have a hollow, gappy torso that helps the figure's transformation than a solid one that hinders it (like the ROTF Leader and his obligatory electronics).
Also, someone totally needs to take pictures of Studio Series Megatron with Cybertron Leader-class Megatron (or Galvatron) including side-on shots with their arms lifted. Because, well, guess which other Megatron had a big torso gap (And I don't care, he is awesome).

Thanks! I used Testor's enamels, the yellow is their flat yellow (which I've realized is a little darker than the yellow already on the figure - I'd recommend mixing some lighter yellow in with it for optimal results). The silver on the grill and feet is their silver metallic enamel, and the gray for the body is like a 50/50 mix of that silver and flat gunmetal. The dark gray/black sections on his head were supposed to be flat gunmetal but I think I may have used my flat black instead (oh well, still looks pretty good), and I used a silver paint pen on the helmet pieces that stick up. Oh, and the inside of the cannon barrel is painted with Testor's gloss tangerine.

Yep, they seem to work pretty well! To be honest, I know absolutely nothing about painting transformers, I just used the paint I've used on models in the past. Do acrylics usually work better?

In my experience, yes. My attempts at painting TFs with Testor's enamels, the paint never fully dried like it did on models, it stayed tacky forever and got filthier and filthier over time, and was prone to rubbing off on my hands. The metallic paints were especially bad about this.
Never had that problem with acrylics. You've got to be careful what brand you pick, though: Avoid Americana, it tends to be a little on the chunky side and not come out smooth. I've generally had good results with Apple Barrel, CraftSmart, and DecoArt. Tamiya (which is pricier) is the brand you always here "pro"'s and magazines bleating about, and it is decent quality... at first. But it's vulnerable to turning to gum in the jar, especially the red (also had that happen to me with the Testor's Enamel red). Apple Barrel, DecoArt, and CraftSmart have never done that to me. Despite being cheap brands.
More comments on SS Megatron: As I was saying, the main purpose of the gappy torso would seem to be to enable transformation into an accurate tank mode. On the CGI model, Megatron's arm performs a somewhat complex transformation to become the main gun (the claw folding back and flattening out, his hidden right-hand fingers or at least what look like them forming a muzzle extension - possibly a focusing array - for his fusion cannon, etc). That'd be fancy hat trick to pull off in toy form, especially at Voyager size, and even if they did manage it at that size... from what I've seen it would probably just end up being bashed as overly fiddly . So instead a main gun that doesn't actually transform from anything is stored in his torso in robot mode, and his arms have to tuck away into the torso in tank mode. The torso is hollow to make room for that, and has exposed gaps because it doesn't look like there wouldn't be anywhere to hide the cover panels in tank mode without them partsforming
Moving on from his torso, I'm not sure if I've seen him configured into the "flying tank" mode. Can the Studio Series toy actually assume that mode?
Posted by hushed on June 17th, 2018 @ 1:46am CDT
The tail doesn't tab together quite properly when chopper mode, but I really buy them for their bot mode, not the alt mode, so I can stomach it.
I hope someone comes out with a fix for the hands.

Thank you for asking, as I’ve been wondering the same. I have a strong feeling he can’t.
Perhaps the suggested 3P side-filler fix will double as a flightmode kit?

Personally I'm okay with the orientation of the hands, since that's the way his hand seems to be turned when he first grabs the big mainframe/server tower (and since that's the best look we get at his hands, well..). I can understand your frustration though.

Voyager Ironhide has a release date of September 1, 2018
Voyager Brawl and Megatron have a release date of July 1st, 2018
New Deluxe Bumblebee has release date of September 24, 2018
Please remember that the Bumblebee movie's deluxe and voyager toys (if any) are part of the Studio Series line and not part of its own movie line so this means that we would probably be getting the delayed Bumblebee movie toys starting end September. That is of course if this Bumblebee toy is for the new film or if it is simply Bee in another body he has had throughout the live action movie franchise.

Incidentally these are the same dates from the "big leak" which also had the 4/20 wave one street date correct so Bee's date is probably accurate as well.

You could drill them open and cut a notch for a slide lever, and get some stiff rubber tubing or w/e that fits inside, stick it in, glue a piece of scrap styrene on as the lever, and cut it to length.

I doubt that. They are part of a line filled with other characters not related to the film because there are so few toys from the film. Hasbro does the same thing with the marvel films for Marvel ELgends. There is only 1 toy of Ant Man or the Wasp in the marvel legends line available at wide retail.
There might be more than 1 bumblebee, bu I dont expect multiples of other characters.

Got megs too, the hollow torso bugs me as much as I figured it would. Shame too, as the panels on his feet coulda been stuck to ball joints on his back and used to hide the torso gap since they are unnecessary to support his weight on his feet
