Is it me or does this actually look cooler than the TFC one?
It isn't just you man. That looks effing fantastic! Exgraver order is so freaking cancelled, he doesn't even know. I'd rather throw my money to these guys anyway. I'm pretty blown away by how awesome that looks!

I called it all the way back when the first pictures of TFC's Exgraver (and not-Long Haul) appeared, that I really didn't like what I was seeing. I'm very glad I never ever had any wish to buy TFC's version of Devastator.
Even though Maketoy's version is a lot smaller, it already looks much, much better, and at least this is a FINISHED Devastator with the separate parts all complete!
Can't wait to see more, and getting ready to start my own little Maketoys fund...

Just, wow.
Posted by Jehuty on July 7th, 2011 @ 3:44am CDT
*couple of things
-Chest plate seems a little too small for my liking
-Big metal screw going through not-scavenger's tire
-Not scrapper's "not devastator's" foot isn't rigid enough and looks like it might give way to the weight of the rest of the figure.
-not-mixmaster's cab looks too far extended for making a compact foot.

Cliche I know, but size does matter to me. I've already kind of resigned myself to getting TFClub's set (depending how the first two turn out), but if the price is right I may go for this too.

Looks like it is designed to fit in with FP Bruticus and Superion.

- Mixmaster
- Scrapper
- Scavenger
- Long Haul
- Hook
- Bonecrusher
And that's an excellent reference picture, Dread_Wing! Just as expected, all the components are roughly scout-size.

PS: Who ever has enlarged small images for our viewing pleasure in the past, can you shrink the indivdual robot photos to give us a higher resolution with more detail ???

OH MY PRIMUS. YES. I want it badly. I just hope the pricing is similar to FP's. If they can offer 1 of these a month for say... $40-$50, I am so on board. No wonder FP wasn't going to do their own Devastator!

I'm getting this... one way or the other... later than sooner, its going to be mine. The Autobots have no chance now.

Trikeboy wrote:That is a beautiful combined mode, however, before everyone jumps ship from the TFC Hercules, there are a few things to consider. 1. We can't see the bot modes for the individual Constructicons. From the blurry pics, they aren't impressing me with their possible movie asthetic, yet. 2. The TFC limbs are fully incorporated into the fig (Exgraver's treads are Hercules' forearms). 3. These are prototype pics, no idea when or if they are going to be released. 4. No price has been revealed, they could cost more than Hercules.
I acually like the aesthetic more, least from what I can tell so far, they appear more like bots, rather than the vehicle parts being used as limbs (the treads legs look better here, with the way the feet are at the bottom). And hopefully they are cheaper for each figure since they're smaller than the supposed TFC figures. One thing that looks a bit tricky to me is the way the fore arms and the chest wing would intergrate into the individual bots. I feel like theres going to be a 7th vehicle/piece added in. I hope I'm wrong.

4. Highly unlikely. Each component is smaller than TFClub's.
3. Until recently, all we had from TFClub were prototype pics. I'd say if they've gone this far it's almost certain they will be released. It might not be as soon as people want, but I doubt that'll make a difference when it comes to deciding between the two.
2. As others have said, myself included, the limbs might not be as incorporated as TFClub's, but it does appear as though they can be used in other forms. Again, it wasn't until recently we learned that Exgraver would store everything on his person.
1. At least we have images of all six "Constructicons" from MakeToys. And we get a good idea of their vehicle forms looking at the complete Devastator. We haven't seen anything of TFClub's bulldozer or cement mixer.

So for now i am leaning more towards the TFC Devy.
Posted by Flux Convoy on July 7th, 2011 @ 4:52am CDT
I know some folks are griping about possible parts forming and how wildly different the bot modes seem to be. To the first, I have to ask if they've got any other other FP add on kits and why this would be shocking now. Last, as much as I love Constructicons and Devastator, if the option is fantastic renditions of one or the other? It's gonna be the big fella every time.

We are yet to see Mixmaster and Bonecrusher, and we do not know if their Devastator will have the purple (or blue going by recent pics) chest wing.
I personally do not own the energon combiners so having the Maketoys version the same size as them means little to me. I prefer the look of the bot modes of the TFC version from what I can see of the blurred images. But the selling point of both figures is the combined mode.
Come on TFC, Maketoys has showed us their hand, let us see yours!

I still need to see a price before I decide to turncoat on TFClub. If the price is at all similar, I'll be sticking with Hercules.

TFC who?

Maybe it's just they way they are presenting it to us compared to how TFClub handled Hercules.

Having six completed toys is such a selling point to me.

Good eye!
It has me wondering too, now.
Posted by Counterpunch on July 7th, 2011 @ 7:50am CDT
I think that if you look at Scavenger's alt and the joint in the forearm, that it could fold out and under and those wheels may be part of Savenger's alt mode. Part of the forearm would wrap up and around the back of the vehicle. Maybe...

I do like the appearance of the combined form, though as already noted in the thread, there looks to be quite a few extra parts that are used to combine and/or form the individual vehicle modes. I hope that if there are many extra parts that they're incorporated in all modes in a similar manner to FP's Combat Unit Colossus set.
The one detail that I noticed immediately from the photo of the combined form is that the elbow joints appear to be ratcheted. Very cool.
I'm apprehensive about this 3rd party product as it looks great as a prototype but it doesn't mean a thing until the completed product is in my hands where I can make a final judgment. However, I feel comfortable in buying both this and the Hercules set. I don't mind having two different 3rd party Devastator sets.

Or it could just mean Hercules doesn't see completion... I dunno, this one looks great, but from what we've seen of Hercules, I like how he's less of a partsformer. But I have more confidence about the quality of this one with FPs ties. I'm most interested in the cost of this one. If it's half the price, that would make this one more desirable...especially if it was released in one shot, which would really give this one that much more of an advantage...at least if they can get it out before Oct/Nov. Like my first line, I'm afraid Hercules doesn't get finished, especially after this news.

People think the battle is of tastes for size and design, but that's our personal preferences. Other's might think that it's price, but TFC is actually pricing "reasonably" for a 3rd party deluxe/small voyager with three modes. Maketoy's practices are still unknown, but I doubt their stupid. Besides if you have the money it's not really an issue.
The real battle here is quality. From my passive observation in forums, TFC's has only been okay overall. The only "stand alone" toy since ol'wobblewheels was the Autoscout, but it impressed me enough to give the benefit of the doubt. This uncertainty is countered by Maketoy hasn't released anything yet. Their early items have to come out and really push they know what they're doing.
