Masterpiece MP-12+ Lambor (Cartoon-accurate Sideswipe) revealed

I suppose all these individual threads for Masterpiece figures are the expectation, but I am afraid of "content bleed", where the same stuff gets regurgitated over a series of threads now that we have a general discussion thread.

I guess I will have to work harder to have something worth saying.

What differences are folks spotting.. White instead of silver paint for the most part?

It looks like this version of Sideswipe comes with three different piledrivers. If they would've included a Jetpack I might have double dipped.

I'll wait and get it off Mandarake sometime. A lot of MP cars go for cheap on there, for example MP14+ Alert is only 6,500 JPY.

Insignia looks the same. Maybe larger.

This appears to use the face-sculpt from the Asian reissue. And maybe it's just the pic but it looks better in white? Less reflections on it.

They painted over the Lamborghini logos, seems unnecessary.

The ball joints are partly white to blend with the thighs.

The wheels are grey because in robot mode they turn light grey. And the rest was mentioned already.

Overall this doesn't look much different, if you don't have an MP-12 yet treat this as a kind of reissue.

Not long after its reveal at Tokyo Toy Show 2017 alongside his new-mold brother Sunstreaker, the cartoon-accurate Masterpiece Sideswipe has gone up for pre-order on Anime Export! Fellow board member Demonology7789 informed us of this pre-order which is actually a rather good deal; while MP-12+ Lambor's usual price is 8500 Yen, he is 5950 Yen here - in other words, around $54. I think this is good news for fans that missed out on MP-12 the first time.

I still think it's a great mold, but don't understand why Takara didn't redo his face now. It can't be that expensive? He was handsomer in the cartoon. Maybe if they had at least shaved the soul patch.

I just realized that with the black around his feet instead of the red, it means the back of the lambo will just be straight black. It wont be a great looking car mode from the back.

I thought the same thing.

I think it's unnecessary, but he does look slightly better (in bot mode anyways). The important thing to take away from this is that the MP+ line is continuing so we might see a anime accurate Wheeljack someday...

Like I said before, this just makes me realize how much we need an updated Sideswipe figure. I bet the chest wouldn't be that hard to modify to shrink down a bit.

I can see where they are coming from with this reissue. As Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are brothers in the cartoon, they probably wanted this "new" Sideswipe to come out at about the same time as Sunstreaker as to improve the selling of it.

Yeah, the same thing happened with the previous MP+ release - Red Alert was close with Inferno, hence MP+ Red Alert when Inferno was released.

They retool faces for the Legends line why not for the even more luxurious MP line?

Make up your mind please! I have a hotline to Takara and will get them to work on your whimsical desire to fabricate a new mastermold to allow for the option to partsform Lambor's chest for "silly" cartoon proportions.

This Sideswipe is set to arrive in November of this year, while his brother Sunstreaker is set to arrive one month later. Still from Alfes2010, the Twitter toy blogger and personality behind the Snakas blog in Japan, we have some in-hand images of the umpteenth iteration of the Lambor / Sideswipe mold from the Takara Tomy Transformers Masterpiece line: MP-12+, the Anime Color Edition!

The differences with the original release are slight, but they are significant for those who are looking for a more screen-accurate rendition of their plastic incarnation - rather than the original toy's homage in the previous Masterpiece toy (galleries respectively here and here), as we get blue windows, metal grey parts replaced with black and white paint, and different shades of red and white overall, in addition to the piledrivers and gun accessories, with three versions of the former (though no chrome). You can check out the images below!

The most noticeable changes, for me, are the face and the feet. Having those as white vs. silver really make the difference for me.
