You better hurry, there's a limit of 5 on these, which means they'll be bought up in bunches and quick, so go go go!

How is it "in stock on TRU.com" if your screenshot shows it isnt? It says it's available for in store pickup, but if your local store is out they're still out of stock.
My pre-order is processing as well, but this news post will be getting people's hopes up for no reason, since it is not (and never was) in stock.

Technically this was never in stock when the news post was made. If you look at the grey x on "ship to home", that means it's not in stock.
Those of you who thought you missed out on another chance to buy Starscream, you didn't. News crew made an error. This time it's not fair to be mad at TRU.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Calm down a second. When I started typing up the article and grabbing the screenshot, it was early morning and it was in stock when I started writing it. I should've paid closer attention to the screenshot, but I was excited at that point and tired.
Never made a mistake before, eh? Don't worry, you'll be happy to know that my mistake blew up in my face. TRU has delayed my order and is getting ready to cancel it, so that should make you feel better, I hope. -_-
EDIT: It's been fixed. Oh and It Is Him, when *I* make a mistake, don't blame the newsteam. Blame the person responsible, don't lump everyone together. I don't like it when blanket statements are made, especially when they're critical and incorrect.
And now that it's been fixed and you've all had your chance to comment on it, from here on out, no more discussing the mistake. This thread will not be derailed further. Complain about their stock levels, complain about TRU's policies, talk about the preorder, talk about the figure, but drop the conversation about the mistaken post.
Anyone wants to discuss it, you bring it to PM where you can shower me with your vitriol all you want, just no more thread derailment.

I hope Amazon never has an MP exclusivity, because then only the US could ever get it. Their toy distribution sucks in every other country for hasbro products and it would be truly unfair.

I'm not sure Amazon would be a great idea, either. I've dealt with their preorders and even their in stock items and I've quite a bit of trouble in the recent past when buying Transformers from them. It was really disappointing, but at least they did right by me and corrected the issues, I just hated having to call customer service to make it happen. =\
Not to mention, their stock levels and prices fluctuate so much, so often, it'd be hard to keep up with them. Overnight, all the 3rd party sellers would have snapped 'em up and charged a ridiculous amount for them. And people, in their desperation, would pay said prices.
TRU is just confusing as heck and Wal*Mart...they got burned on Optimus, Starscream and especially Skywarp. (He was so overstocked he was clearanced out as low as $7.50 in some locations. No joke!)
Target...their attitude toward collectors in some stores (signs, policies saying no to requests, etc) just wouldn't work for an exclusive collectible item.
K-Mart? Well...we saw what happened with the Platinum Insecticons. $75.00? Please...
TRU, at least for now, is the only real viable option. I mean, sure we could have online exclusives, but there are a lot of people who refuse to shop online (and that's their right), so they'd be completely without an ounce of luck. Hardly seems fair, really.
There needs to be better accountability for the Masterpiece program at TRU. Someone who knows how to run the show and read the numbers right, because....yeah. Speaking of which, a member of one of the Facebook groups received a cancellation email on his 'Screamer and then received another with an expected ship date and all that.
After hearing that, I decided to check my order, directly on the site and to my surprise, it says "Item(s) located in stock" even though I received a cancellation email. So...yeah, I'm not sure what's going to happen, but their site says I can expect my order to arrive between 9/29 and 10/2. *rolls eyes*

And just to be clear, when I was saying that Amazon was a bad idea it was in terms of them carrying exclusives for the world. Few aside from TRU can do this at that scale. But with the decentralization of exclusives (meaning that a item will be exclusive in different retailers depending the country), then Amazon can do for the US. Its kinda out of my field since now we would be talking of where its exclusive in the US (as opposed the the world in general) and I am not an American. I do favor the decentralization idea since it gives a chance for everyone to get these toys. Target is nowhere outside of America, but other retailers could carry their exclusives in other countries.
I do find that as a specialized international toy retailer, Toysrus is the best one of all (maybe Walmart as a second option) but the main reason we are not happy with them is because they dont have their sh!t together. Instead of looking elsewhere (getting out of the frying pan and into the fire), it would be best to simply explain to TRU and hope they figure out the demand of these toys. Me and Kanrabat and many others in Quebec kept bombarding TRU to add french on the platinum editions so that we could get them too and now they did, hourray! This proves that TRU does listen to feedback. Its not like they are purposefully trying to lower their sales.
Think about it, it must be tough for non fan statisticians and business analysts to understand the logic of why one masterpiece sells like crazy while another one doesnt. If there was the exact same level of demand for Bluestreak as there is for Starscream, the same thing would have probably happened but they dont see it and will probably lump them all and simply average out sales for market anticipation in future released.

I'm not entirely sure TRU actually listens to the number crunchers, honestly. They probably should, but I doubt it. It's not just Transformers, it's their ideas, period.
Limited numbers of some of the most sought after figures, but overstocked to the gills on ones that had people scratching their heads. Acid Storm? A random show cameo background character (I think he was in an episode of G1) gets his own Masterpiece? That just seems silly to me.
Cybertron Supreme Class Starscream receiving a reissue at nearly $100.00? Zero sense.
But let's look at other lines in their stores for a moment. Power Rangers is another prime example of "What are they doing?!"
Legacy Titanus. In all actuality, $100-125.00 is fair price for him. (People were under the impression that he was handpainted and that's what the extra cost was on top of the die-cast metal, but it wasn't. They're tampographs applied by machine.) He started out at $199.99, which is ridiculous. I was dumb enough to buy him with a coupon at $175.00 plus tax. (I won't make that mistake again. Period.) Fortunately, they had coupon after coupon and sale after sale, since it was Christmas. I ended up getting him for closer to $100.00 and because it was a present from my Father, it ended up being more like $40.00 out of pocket for me.
They have a ton of Dino Charge Zords and Megazords right now. What do they do? Repaint the main Megazord plus the two readily available auxiliary Zords and throw 'em together in a box with a few add ons for about $10.00 less than you'd pay buying them individually. Sounds like a great deal, but it's just more shelf clutter that won't sell in the end. Sure, people who've never owned 'em before, as well as completests will go out of their way to buy these products, but generally they just end up clearancing these items out when it's all said and done.
They did so with the Legacy Megazord because it was taking too long for the Dragonzord to come along and there was no whisper of Titanus at one point. Then years later, both of them show up, but also with a year or so between them as well.
Now, TRU is rereleasing older PR role play items in special packaging as a TRU exclusive, for roughly the same price they went for originally, or even slightly higher, and I can't imagine they'll move much, if at all.
So, it's no surprise to me that TRU would botch a release like Starscream, at least in the beginning. I've noticed that Acid Storm, Prowl and Bluestreak (Silverstreak) have been more plentiful, so hopefully Starscream will too. Maybe they listen some, but you have to admit, they don't seem to pay much attention to number crunchers or people who seem to "get" it.
It's great that we have an option for exclusives, it really is, but some of them just make you scratch your head. Some just don't make any sense, plain and simple. Especially the PR stuff...

I found like 4 mp -3 grimlock at one time.
About 6 prowls
And as of right now, They have about a dozen bluestreaks.
So I'm pretty confident that I will be able to find a starscream again. As my friend told me they had two. Which he bought one and I got the other,(though had return it because of a defect)
Are people still finding them difficult to find? My toysrus even has devastator, although at the price of $180

Depends on how you define "hand painted". Obviously they aren't being brushed on, but tampographs aren't automated. They're made through a series of stamps and someone has to line them up by hand and hit the button for the machine to stamp the piece.

Won't be until at earliest Wednesday night/Thursday morning. Japan is celebrating "Silver Week" so all of the online stores are currently closed and wont be open again until the 24th.

I get what people are saying about the downsides of other stores getting them, but why not make these a shared exclusive like many other Transformers exclusives? Why can I get the "Year of the..." figures from TRU, Amazon, BBTS, and HTS with ease, but Hasbro Masterpiece is something I'll never see outside of scalpers? Seems backwards to me considering how well one sells and how poorly the other one does.

For the part of a shared exclusive, that sounds great! Like the way Platinum preadaking was sold, of the YOTH stuff. Sounds good to me
And as for Silver week, thats good to know. I know the big China mid autumn festival is also this week, are these events similar to oneanother?

My first Starscream too. His joints are really tight. You can grab him by the torso and his legs don't slide down like Thundercracker and Acid!

Kinda. Silver week celebrates Respect for the Aged day on Monday and the Autumnal Equinox on Wednesday. By law the day in between is a freebie national holiday so many businesses, particularly online ones, are closed for the three days.

I find it really cool how diverse regions of the world have very similar holidays, celebrating the same thing more or less. In canada, we have thanksgiving, which i sjust a few weeks off from midautumn day festival and the autumnal equinox. Then the US has thanksgiving a month later.
