E! Online caught up with Transformers director Michael Bay at Hollywood Film Festival's Hollywood Awards and asked about the sequel:
So, where do you go with it? How do you up the stakes? It's not about upping it. It's about still keeping the heart. Any new characters coming in? Oh, yeah…a lot of fun stuff. I keep telling the writers, remember the heart and the magic, remember the heart and the magic. It's not about being bigger. DreamWorks is targeting a June 26, 2009 release date for the follow-up. |

Steven Spielberg's "A boy and his car", the part of the story many people seem to overlook that's the key part of the 1st Transformers Movie.

No, remember.....Devastator was in the first movie(Brawl)....so they can't have him in any other movies as multiple robots that make a big one, because that would confuse people.....lodelco wrote:I'm all for keeping the magic and the heart but what is this about 'bigger'?
New Transformers, aircraft carrier and that rumour about Devestator...thats definitely big.

Well, listening to the movie commentary, hes still ego driven. But I think he did right by us with the first movie and will do even better with the 2nd!

I hate it when sequels don't feel like there predecessors. for example: The Matrix sequels, the Pirates sequels, The Riddick movies.

Lack of character development was also a problem in the first X-Men movie. The problem is that there are so many characters to develop, logically there isn't enough time to develop them. introduce them and give you a basic idea of their character in the first movie, further develop the storyline and characters in the second, and introduce Unicron and Primus in the third one. ANyone else think a CGI space battle between Primus and Unicron would be awesome?

I agree...the extra features on the DVD were really lame. We'll just let them make it up to us in the second movie.

As much as I would love a Devestator, I don't think it's going to be that name seeing the DVD kept Brawl as Devestator and now everyone that isn't into the toys or keeps tabs on what's going on in the interwebs will be like "Why the hell is this guy named Devestator, that was the tank in the first one."

Well, there was Cullen getting into the movie....oh & Megatron....lots of things happened with him due to complaining....he got a better head for starters....not to mention even though Frank Welker wasn't Megs in the movie, he's been Megs for pretty much all other movie-related stuff such as the game & the prequel video that came with the movie.First-Aid wrote:Nemesis Cyberplex wrote:What, you can't like a movie & still complain about it?General Magnus wrote:And the haters cried havok and let loose the dogs of complaining...

I'm not saying complaining is always good, but in a lot of cases if there's enough of an outcry, people that care will hear it & at least take it into consideration when making a decision to go with one idea or another.

That's true. Being able to see the positive and negative in both things we like and things we dislike is a good thing.
We do complain an awful lot, though!

DreamWorks is targeting a June 26, 2009 release date for the follow-up.
See? He's not the ego driven monster that everyone has him pegged to be. It's a shame.
And I'm glad he said what he said...I think he finally gets it now.
Well, listening to the movie commentary, hes still ego driven. But I think he did right by us with the first movie and will do even better with the 2nd!
No way! He admitted alot that the fans were right on alot of stuff.
I bought the walmart version too, but when i opened it and saw the regular edition movie, i returned the movie and kept the prequal box part lol. Then I bought the target special edition one. Yeah, the HD one does have the commentary.
I don't have anything constructive to add. I just wanted to see how many quote boxes we could get before the servers blew up...
Oh im sure we can keep this going for a while. Did anyone else seem a bit disapointed by the prequal walmart version? Typical walmart quality i suppose.
I got the Target transforming case versiou...heard the prequel thing was kinda lame..
Heres to trying to keep this thing going...
Anyway whats this prequel thing i keep hearing about? Can i watch it on you tube?
Can we get it to the point that there's one letter in each line? My Target exclusive came with a prequel minicomic...even had Wreckage in it. I think the WalMart one had an "animated" prequel.

Dammit Burn, I was just about to get vertigo. You know I cant handle complex thought, I needed something to take me away.
But um yeah...Will there ever be a thread about Bay where people don't whine about piss jokes or at least find something new to whine about?

Not while there are unappreciative fanboys out there who think they can do a better job.
