We have some new release information and color images of MakeToy's upcoming "Tank" upgrade set for Reveal the Shield/United Optimus Prime courtesy of Upgrade Commander. It appears the set will feature an electronic light-up gimmick for the large translucent sword. The last image reveals a battery pack with wires leading to the sword's hilt. According to Upgrade Commander the set will cost 7,999 yen (approximately $100.00) and is scheduled to release in November. Images mirrored below.

Nice. I wish I would have been able to snag a United version of this Prime, but still looks good with RTS.

Cool. Now I need to find Prime for this release. I'm just a bit concerned about the trailer's clearance to the ground. It seems a bit low.

I'll be honest, I was hoping the price would max around $75, but I am going to have to get one of these. It looks gorgeous in color and I already snagged a RTS Prime at TJ Maxx for $8 after the first announcement about this was posted. I managed to talk myself out of the other 3rd party trailers released for Prime so far, but I don't think I can pass this one up. Kind of wish they had left out the electronic light up feature just so the price would have been lower, never personally been a fan of things like that since I don't like leaving batteries in things due to acid leakage and its not like its a lamp you can leave on while its displayed on a shelf.

That price is kinda terrible for how rough this looks. I certainly don't want or need wires hanging out of my Transformers either. These kinds of things are targeted releases at primarily older fans with disposable income. Why can't we get such a thing without a play feature most of us wouldn't ever use or care about? I'm feeling pretty frustrated with this because I'm so disappointed. Oversized hands aren't giving me the warm and fuzzies either.

WOAH! That is f***ing steep for an add on! I never paid nearly as much for FP sets, and as great as this thing looks, I'm not gonna start here!

Goddamn it! :BANG_HEAD:

I have to agree with Flux Convoy on the light up sword bit. It seems out of place for an adult focused toy that is going to range around $100. It would be nice if they offered two versions, one including the electronics and one without. Other than what would be a useless feature for me, I really like the look of this set. Can't help but think the price would be much lower if they hadn't put in the electronic gimmicks though.

I was afraid I was being negative about this so it makes me feel better to see I'm not the only one who thinks the electronic gimmick is unnecessary and that the price is too high. I really want to get this set, but have a feeling if I miss it when its released I'll never be able to afford it on the secondary market.

I agree with your thoughts on the hands but I kind of think they look oversized due to the picture angle. The prototype pictures, if I remember correctly, didn't look that huge. I'd rather have closed fist hands anyway.

Besides that, I'm really liking what I see. I could care less about lights but everything else looks great. The trailer mode looks excellent.

I'm kind of glad I didn't buy a Classics G2 Prime. $100 for the upgrade is a bit steep for me at the moment. However, I do like what they have so far. I wonder if the trailer converts into a base also.

An upgrade package that turns Classics G1 Prime into a Powermaster would still be awesome, and the add-on would have be compatible w/ the G3 Trailer, or perhaps even the BTS trailer.

I'm not getting the same tingle as I got when they released the initial prototype images, but that's usually how it is. The hands do indeed seem a tad big, don't they? Colour me unsure.

Not sure if it converts into a base exactly, but the prototype pics in the initial post of this thread show it in a howitzer type mode and one mode with Prime standing behind it that looks like either a shield mode, telecom station, or something along those lines.

I like it but would rather them ditch the electronics and chrome the trailer. Oh, and drop the price about $20.

I think the electronics is what makes the trailer cost so much. It's a nice throwback, to make this a real laser rod prime, but I'd ratehr have a price drop as well.

I'm with others thinking the hands are too big, but ... it's a ncie set.

The more I look at the color pics the more that those wires hanging from the sword to backpack bother me. They look sort of cheap and out of place. Makes Prime look more like some kind of Gundam having a sword that has to be plugged in with wires hanging about.

Yeah, that would be nice. I'm not digging the wired sword either. I guess it could look cool lit up, but it's not like I can have it on all the time, so I'd rather just have it more affordable and not have wires hanging out of the sword. I hope the light is some sort of pod or something that can be removed from the sword. Overall, I dunno, I'm just not as excited as I was about the first proto pics. Maybe it's the fact that these pics aren't exactly the highest quality, and I'm a little bummed about the price.

So according to the latest info from Maketoy the confirmed retail of this thing is $110. Add shipping to that and I think its out of my price range, especially as I don't want to pay that for something I have to try to disassemble to remove the dangling wiring from. Maybe at some point they will offer a cheaper version minus the electronics, but I kind of get the feeling this is one more 3rd party I will have to miss out on. The TF Prime figures will be out soon and I can get about 10 of them from local stores for what this one set will cost with shipping.

Ugh... Nope, I'll pass. If I'll buy a 3rd party TF at that price, I'll get Arcee Delicate Warrior instead.

That's a pricy bugger.. He looks great, but even FansProject never crossed the line in one shot. I guess the wired sword is neat, if you can still actually use it without length issues.

I had sort of wondered about the length of the wiring myself. It doesn't look very long in the pics does it?

with corrosion in the electronics being a problem over the years with official hastak products i worry about the inclusion of these light up gimmicks in 3rd party releases.i mean they may work just fine but qc would be a even biger issue here.
while it may look nice i cant see myself really enjoying a light up gun or sword. >:oP

giant on the other hand looks fantastic yes even in yellow. personally ive never seen mass produced green construction vehicles.i think it was hasbros way of distinguishing their construction vehichles from all the other ones out there back in 83' just a thought. >:oP

$100 tp $120 seems a little to pricey for a add-on trailer/armor for a mere deluxe sized toy.

Unless this RTS G-2 Prime was already a tall deluxe to begin with & around 5 & 3/4 inches tall already in robot mode. then I could see the trailer/armor making sense as it'll bump the robot mode up to a tall voyager around 7 & 1/2 inches tall in robot mode.

if the RTS G-2 Prime is TINY small deluxe like Classics 1.0 Rodimus was in robot mode which measured 5 & 1/4 inches tall. then the trailer armor for RTS G-2 prime won't bump up the robot mode in height that much.

I kinda like the Car robots/Rid fire convoy thing the trailer does for the robot mode. by giving it weapons & height.

does anyone know how tall regular RTS G-2 Optimus Prime is in robot mode. please don't guess. i need someone to get a measure tape & measure the robot mode from head to toe. not shoulders to toe.

I suspose if BBTS carries this RTS Prime trailer/armor I might buy it.

Ofcause I don't have any RTS G-2 Optimus Prime deluxe toys. So I need at least one or two of these. hopefully the christmas buying season sees all these discount stores over stocked with RTS last wave deluxes.

I think the boots+feet will add a easy 1 & 1/4 inch more to the deluxe robot height. which will bump this toy up to a 6 & 3/4 inch robot voyager size level.

usually on average anything over 6 inches tall in robot mode is no longer a deluxe sized TF toy. a 6 & 1/2 or a 6 & 3/4 inch robot mode is not considered a short voayer,it's considered a average voyager robot height.

Yes,their are exceptions once in a while like deluxe lockdown being voyager height. or animated lugnuts being deluxe height. these are exceptions. most of the time the average heights are what we go by.

Remember when Michal bay said he would give 17.000 to the persons who found skids and mud flap in the movie on July first when it was first released. Well I have found them in their respectable vehicle forms in the Blu Ray movie. Its when Optimus prime is mad and they are coming back to base from Chernobyl . You can check for your self just go to the movie to the time 24.50 and pause it and you will see them in the background of the base behind Que.

This has nothing to do with the topic at hand. I'll bite, though. Bay still wins. We all saw them in vehicle mode, but he said "if they're seen performing", which they weren't.

No money for you.

Get on topic. This trailer is awesome sauce. I think I'm going to order it...

With the such neutral colors I think even a scourge repainted figure would work well with it. Wired sword and electronics is kind of iffy. A version without would definitely sell more.
