Now that would be G1 pandering that would be really good and brilliant.

But this is the complete opposite, just because of a few seconds of G1-esque designs and suddenly it's the greatest movie ever. ugh ... my expectations were low, but given how people have peed their pants over this trailer I feel like logging off for a few weeks until the over-hype dies down until December.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm loving the more G1 inspired designs but I'm still only cautiously optimistic. Believe me, not all of us drink the kool aid.

Well that Studio Series Dropkick looks very G1 styled, with those smooth rectangular limbs being solid pieces of the alt mode. Looks like how I wish Generations Whirl would have turned out.
And yeah, as I told D-Max, I get where you are coming from. But I dont feel that way, simply because I never liked the overcomplicated designs, they always felt more alien than robotic, especially the decepticons. I really love this Blitzwing face, wow.
As for Bee being Bay-verse Bee, I feel thats only because of his face. Of course, a head is a big deal, it totally defines you. But for this Bee, its all thats left. The rest of the bot feels very G1 styled (not necessaily G1 Bee,but G1 in general), with all the smooth surfaces. I think if his head was made more G1 ala Soundwave and Prime in this film, it would truly reveal just how different this been design is compared to the established Bay look.

I'm personally less excited for the designs and such and more so for the fact that at the very least this movie seems to be trying to have a soul and be a family film.
They already seem quite better then Bay's run just for that, and honestly that's all I'm personally looking for.
Alas I'm personally waiting for the movie to come out to make my final decision.

I actually feel like Bee's head here looks very well, it's cute and more like what I think his original Bay verse head was supposed to invoke to the audience. (the whole puppy like behavior)
I honestly don't know what I prefer I like Bee's G1 face and it's probably easier for talking but I think it's just pretty generic like all the non face plated Autobots (not that there's anything wrong with normal generic mouth faces but for someone as significant as Bumblebee)

I didnt mean to say it didnt look good, i just meant it was the only obvious remnant of the original Bay design and the only thing stopping it from us thinking he looks more in line with Optimus and Soundwave.

And I do share excitement over these designs in general even if it's just a movie take on G1 designs.

this is the CHEAPEST Transformers movie in the franchise. $100 mil or so IIRC.

Actually I think the length of that Cybertron segment will be testament to how "cheap" the movie is as in comparison to the rest of the movie, it'll be very short.

I'm not exactly sure what the average budget is for video games nowadays. I know that development of a game is becoming more and more like that of a big budget hollywood movie, but still, I don't think they are in the high tens-to hundreds of millions of dollars for development.
I too believe the sequences (however brief they are) will look more polished by the time of release, or else, yes it would look jarring. The first TF film, DotM, and even TLK (when Prime meets Quintessa), all had 100% cg scenes on Cybertron that did not look any different than the overall film.
I'm sure, as most have speculated, the scenes of war on Cybertron will be brief, but any future chance we have to have a full movie with nothing but Transformers, I am going to support any way I can.

The development for the game Destiny was 140 million $ and that does not cover the added marketting cost. Thats higher than the budget for this film.

So, when I see people discussing what was good, what was bad, some director's crimes against the franchise, I just feel like I don't have any critical taste... I mean, I'm able to criticise video games or comics and mangas, but so far I haven't been shocked by something bad in the Transformers movies. Maybe it's because I just come into the cinema awaiting nothing but big robots fighting, and my desires are satisfied each time.

That's not a bad thing everyone is different with their likes and dislikes, so don't feel pressured to not like something that others don't.

I don’t mind it, but I don’t understand why all the bots/cons on Cybertron look G1-accurate(Bumblebee being a Volkswagen Beetle) while Blitzwing stood out like a sored thumb(still retaining the Starscream look). Couldn’t they at least changed the colors a bit and give him a visor to further differentiate from Starscream?

Now don't let the headline fool you into thinking that this just talks about how adults shouldn't like the franchise, as adult fans are mentioned, but instead it talks about how the treatment of the female stars differ from the five Bay movies to knights bumblebee.

I was saying that all the transformers on Cybertron all have G1-accurate designs(Optimus, Shockwave, Soundwave, etc) while Blitzwing still retained Starscream’s G1 look and could’ve changed a bit to look closer to his namesake. And besides, this is a reboot(like how Bumblebee having a Volkswagen Beetle alt mode), so so your statement is rendered invalid.

Yeah...Like I said, they would've been real dope if they're from another continuity/story. I think I would be really be excited if it's a new version of the wars at cybertron like Fall of Cybertron as I was (and still) a fan of that game. And again, comparing with how Shatter, Dropkick and Blitzwing looks, I still feel that it doesn't really fit.
Though if it's revealed that some insane cataclysmic event actually turned the G1-looking bots into how they are at the previous films, I might open up. William-James' point on the G1-esque Shockwave appearing at a newspaper from ROTF kinda got me thinking.
Personally, I love the alien aspect of the Cybertronians (Was really digging ROTF Ravage and DOTM Shockwave and more back then, so yeah). The Generations toyline (although I don't collect TFs anymore) is enough to sate (at least for me) on the G1-stuffs.
But hey, I'll see the film for more refined thoughts as maybe I'll open up. But for now, I'm still feeling what's mentioned above.
Cheers!

He wasn't using the word "chronology" in the correct way when he said that. The words he should have used to say what he meant was "time period" or "point in time", as he was only referring to how this movie takes place in the 1980s instead of the late 2000s/early 2010s like the other movies.Combat Zero wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Not if the whisperings of Bee getting his 70s Camaro form by the end of the film prove true.Combat Zero wrote:And besides, this is a reboot(like how Bumblebee having a Volkswagen Beetle alt mode), so so your statement is rendered invalid.
