Am I the only one who thinks that Toyota Jazz would make a great Masterpiece? I'd rather have the Porsche, but this would be acceptable too.

There's also QT09 Optimus Prime (Nissan GT-R R35) and QT10 Wheeljack (Lancia Stratos Turbo Gr.5) that are new as well.

Interestingly, the new Optimus one is based directly on his red Transformers: Alternity figure.

Courtesy of the Dengeki Hobby website, we have full colour confirmation of the Takara Tomy Q-Transformers figures we saw teasers for a while back: Q18 Nemesis Prime/Convoy, Q15 Hound, Q16 Smokescreen and Q17 Tracks! Check out the official images of these superdeformed mini G1 robits mirrored below, as we find out their release date is towards the end of March, and currently priced at 1078 Yen (approx $10 each).

Actually, you were right the first time. Q16 is Bluestreak and is based on BT-19 Binaltech Bluestreak. You can tell by the head which does not feature Smokey's helmet style head that wraps around the chin area.

Ah, good catch. You are correct, sir.

So Alternator Smokescreen was essentially a repaint of BT Bluestreak? Was BT Bluestreak the first use of that mold?

BT-01 was Smokescreen, then Bt-03 was Streak (in 'silver'), then we went to BT-07 which again was Smokescreen and after that he became BT-19 Bluestreak. The Streaks where without the chinstraps.

Additionally, Streak/Silverstreak wasn't a repaint of Smokescreen, but a remold. Namely, the robot mode head and the car mode spoilers are different between the two.

"Hello Convoy is the code name for Takara's daring, cross-gender-appeal crossover figure.

Her purpose: to siphon knee-jerk fan-rage away from Bronies."

...that's all I got. Had Joe on the brain for a week since a leak in my basement ruined several MISB sets from about 8 years back, including that Target set with the MOBAT and red HISS tank. It claimed my sealed Nightmare Moon gift set too. A mere fraction of Seib's pain from that flood, since most of my TF stuff dodged the bullet, but a sliver I share.

Back on topic, does anyone else think the shape of the lil' seekers' cockpits makes them look like they come with egg-laying action for a belated Easter assault?

Also hilarious that it shares its mold with the EVA Units, considering how the two are virtually polar opposites (uber kid-friendly vs. uber NOT kid-friendly).

1. Hello Convoy: awesome in a twisted sort of way

3. I thought the seekers reminded me more of those old super deformed macross planes, but now I can't un-see the eggs

If I had a Mickeymus, I'd probably be tempted to do the same thing, but getting one now seems like it'd be... Impractical. Though unless Hello Kitty is bigger than or the same size as Mickey, this could wind up ridiculously-scaled anyhow. Like, you know, most things involving multiple Transformers toys.

It says that it's only 2 inches, and is only $12 instead of some insane price, so methinks Hello Kitty Prime is rather small.

STILL--will have to get this. My wife is a massive HK fan.

Well, here is how big Mickey is compared to a standard height DVD case:

And grabbing the measuring tape, he comes up to about 4¾" in height. So if this is true:

Black Bumblebee wrote:It says that it's only 2 inches...

Man, add Pepsi Convoy into the mix... and too bad I never got Sports Label Convoy. I could have a whole bunch of fun with Mascot Primes! (What is Sports Label Convoy going for these days... Checking eBay... And... Yeah, never mind that...)

More cases of Takara names in Katakana with Hasbro names in Latin script. TakaraTomy's really making this confusing for those who try to categorize their toys.

Well, up until recently, Takara's toys had always had one character name on their packaging. Now, some of them have two names on them.

Take that new good guy truck QT-19 toy seen above, for instance. The Katakana says he's named "Convoy", but the Latin script says he's named "Optimus Prime". Whereas the Katakana and Latin script for the other guy, QT-20, both call him "Megatron", thereby avoiding such confusion. One toy has two consistent names, while the other has two different names.

But Convoy is Optimus Prime and vice versa. Megatron has always been called Megatron by both Hasbro and Takara. I think what you're really seeing here is how Takara's products are enjoying a life outside of Japan (and thus are being marketed as that thanks to the Internet) so they are putting the Hasbro (or English) names on the products as well as the name from their local market. I wish they would just drop Cybertrons, Destrons, Convoy, etc, but this is a good alternative to that as well (though it continues to fuel these characters having two names which I feel is really bad for marketing purposes).
