Also now that I think of it, if they also gave him the name "Tigertron" as he was named in early promotion material, that would have been a neat callback as well.

The fact that they've now revealed both Tigatron and Pipes's molds through this before the actual original uses of the molds is aggravatingly hilarious though.

Even BBTS is fed up with Hasbro dragging their feet on the reveals.
In other news, I just found Waspinator and Shadow Panther during that outing that had me out of the house during this reveal!

To be fair, it's really not that different than what we had in TR here we'd get the redecos/retools revealed before the main use of the mold. Or Alpha Bravo before Vortex in Combiner Wars. Hasbro is jut revealing stuff before other stuff. Same diff.

At least in those instances, though, it was because the things they revealed first were the first uses of those respective molds to get released since they were all retail figures. Retail Tigatron could show up in stores literally any day now considering the Deluxes for his wave are out, and instead they reveal the exclusive version not coming out until March? It just seems a bit off.william-james88 wrote:Nemesis Primal wrote:The fact that they've now revealed both Tigatron and Pipes's molds through this before the actual original uses of the molds is aggravatingly hilarious though.

(I could be mistaken, but wont these be offered on Amazon.ca and Amazon.uk as well?)
To me it seems like a lot of the same ground is being covered, same price, estimated release date, and with such small quantities Pulse isn't doing anybody any favors.
Hopefully these will be made available to fans in the rest of the world via other means.

They were just optional on the original toys. Wish we still had that option now, at least as swappable heads, if not the same mechanism as the original toys.
The thing is, Mutant Tigatron is a callback to his boxart, which reflected the original toy. And the boxart used the mutant mask, so it makes more sense for him to have the mutant mask. Personally, I prefer Shadow Panther and this version of Tigatron to have the mutant mask, as it helps set them apart from Cheetor and the original Tigatron.

So that fans in the US (principally) can be assured to have an outlet for any exclusive outside of the american exclusive retailer. It makes less sense when its an amazon excluive since Amazon is an online retailer but I see the logic for Target, walgreens and Walmar exclusives. It's just an extra perk and a reason for Hasbro to make some extra money on premium memberships while showing that they listen to fan feedback by giving some fans an option out side the exclusive retailer. I'm a but cynical though, it just looks like a way for Hasbro to get some more money out of fans since they get the premium membership bucks AND get double their margin on anything offered on Pulse.

Meh, all toys in the same line (WFC). It's a bit different but ultimately the same thing. In both cases we are seeing a toy that is not the main intended use of the mold before the main intended use of the mold.
Just saying it's nothing really new. Hasbro has been and can be goofy.

Exactly. I mean if they offer Target, Walmart and Walgreens exclusives, I appreciate that because there isn't a guarantee of finding them in store or even pre-ordering online (since at least Target and Walmarts online ordering has proven to be unreliable at times). But yeah, it was the Amazon aspect that baffled me since there is abundant quantities seemingly available.

tigatrons got a few people moaning at the price yet hes either the same or £2 more than a retail SS voyager plenty of prices to moan at is the only constant these days.

I think what you are missing is they are revealing the uses of the mold out of order or when the product will be in hand. For CR they did show Alpha Bravo before Vortex, but Alpha Bravo was also available before Vortex. Same thing in TR. What is different here is revealing a use of the mold that won't be available for 5 months when they have failed to reveal the use of the mold that will be out in the very near future. That is if they even reveal the Tigertron before he hits retail, which as we have seen with SS Grindor is no guarantee.

Might this have something to do with the fact that multiple interviewers complained about the availability of the Earthrise Amazon exclusives to Hasbro? They may have elected to include Amazon exclusives on Pulse due to that feedback, even though the main issues there were the amount of stock and the sets getting scalped. At least Amazon can't cancel your preorder like many people reported if you just don't order from Amazon.o.supreme wrote:william-james88 wrote:I'm a but cynical though, it just looks like a way for Hasbro to get some more money out of fans since they get the premium membership bucks AND get double their margin on anything offered on Pulse.

I'm pretty sure target is the only retail partner that gives enough of a shit to not play ball about letting pulse skim of the top of preorders. Walmart straight up doesn't give a crap about advance orders, theirs or someone elses, so long as shelf stock comes in and sells, and so far every walmart exclusive has gone up on pulse either as a preorder or as a straight to in stock listing. Amazon has a big enough market share, and has shifted enough into a marketplace style business model that it's more of a 'you scratch my back, I scratch yours' situation in regards to buying hasbro's goodwill, and all their listings heve gone up accordingly. Walgreen's toy aisle is an opportunistic holiday side hustle, a half-hearted skimming off the top of the market itself, and thus doesn't particularly care about whether they lose a fraction of that to pulse.
But Target? Target is the one that has gotten a craw in its mouth about trying to fill the vacancy left by TRU's departure, snapping up all the exclusives that would have gone there. Thus far, the only target exclusives to get pulse listings, to the best of my recollection, are the collaboratives where target got the early bird preorders but everyone was allowed to stock when they came in, and the fan demand restock of the cobra island joe figures, after target had already gotten their sales in.
...Scratch that, I forgot the cobra island wave 2 figures went up on preorder at about the same time as the restock. New theory: This quarter has been screwy about pulse getting non-86 transformers preorders listed, instead letting things go straight to in stock, and so pulse's one-quarter time delay is going to go straight to in stock, and it just hasn't come in yet.
An important side note about the partner exclusive program: it appears that only exclusives for hasbro's in-house IPs are offered, presumably because the licensed IPs have special 3-way agreements between hasbro, retailers, and the licensors, and thus hasbro has less control over what goes where.

Grimlock meanwhile is a good repaint of the Dinobot mould, he looks nice from a lot of angles and I like the new head. I never had the original Beast Wars Grimlock so I have no real nostalgia for it, so the inaccurate paint job doesn't annoy me that much.
As for wave 4, as nice as it is that we have official product images now...I don't understand why we couldn't have got them a month and a half ago. Waspinator and Tigatron are the only things I want from this wave, but I'm not even excited to buy them any more, because the wait for an official reveal and pre-orders has been so frustratingly long.
Posted by o.supreme on September 30th, 2021 @ 11:13am CDT
Pipes and Slammer getting split up into a later wave is a shame since Slammer is the only one I really want, but at least as others have stated, the pre-order I made on Amazon months ago should hopefully be valid (the pics are there now), though I will eat the packaging if it shows up at my home on October 5th .
Some folks are reporting seeing wave 4 at Target, I still have yet to see wave 3 deluxes anywhere (I have the ones I want, I just haven't seen them in a store yet, I just like to keep tabs on what's going on at retail). Last year I never saw ER Wave 3 at retail either, though I saw all the Target exclusive 1 item each, 1 time.
Although the idea of getting items to move has been more successful, it seems the trend of getting items of latter waves is still an issue. I hope everyone who wants Slammer and Pipes get them, but I highly recommend ordering online because the likelihood of seeing these at retail, at least in the U.S., is going to be slim I fear.

The initial set of leaks for Kingdom mentioned a Voyager Starscream, an unchanged re-release of the Earthrise toy. I'm guessing K-36 will either be that, or it could have been changed to Blaster, though it's also possible that Blaster isn't coming out in Kingdom any more and will instead debut in Legacy wave 1.

that being said, he's not as glorious as I would have liked. Personally I think his wings should have been bigger with an extra fold joint so they compact a wee bit more. but given his animation model is considered "impossible to reproduce in toy form" I still think its a good compromise. Also he can breathe fire now. Yay.
