The amount they talked about "color correcting" gives me pause because that's the same buzz word that got thrown around a lot for the 25th anniversary DVD and that's one of the worst looking versions of the movie in existence.
In short - please, don't have gone and screwed this up trying to get fancy.

padfoo wrote:While I am still pretty excited about this release. I wish they were actually releasing a 4K Blu-ray with this updated transfer. Instead we are getting a standard 2K Blu-ray that has been remastered from 4K content that they derived from the film.
How many people would even be able to watch a 4K transfer?

Overall, I'm going to get this. I first rented this at Blockbuster when I was about 4 or 5 years old, and this set me on my path of being a Transformers fan, even though I had almost no idea who any of the characters from the show were. So with help from this movie, the Armada toys (My first two Transformers were Cyclonus and Deluxe Optimus Prime), and one of my best friends, I have become a lifelong fan of Transformers.

Sabrblade wrote:Saw these comparisons between screencaps of the UK Blu-Ray and screencaps of the Shout! Factory Blu-Ray... and it's looking like the Shout! Factory one is a much darker-tinted, slightly more blurry version with more of the picture cropped off the top and bottom.
Not really liking that, honestly.

That's not how it looks on my TV or laptop. Here's the same frame (or close to it) from my laptop. Click on the images to view the difference (oddly the smaller image looks the same until you zoom in). The one with the black bars is from my laptop.
As for the "cut" of the widescreen, you and I both know the widescreen version is BS and that the proper way to view all of image is with the full size version.
