Seibs, your news crew is not doing its research, kind of like the real news...
Posted by Raymond T. on May 24th, 2007 @ 1:35pm CDT
I happen to have gotten the news by other means. I don't have the time to spend much of it on the board here, and as long as the search option here doesn't work, we can't search the board to see if other people found something similar. As you may have noted, the link in this news report and the link in the post you mention are not the same. And I've noted that the clip appeared on a few sites, of which this was just the first I encountered.Handbanana wrote:Credit where credit is due...

As for doing research, the trailer is not an exclusive clip. So someone saying they founf something does not make this person a source but a middleman. So you might need to get your own facts straight, before you run off and throw a tantrum.

Sorry mate but that's just a lame excuse. It takes like what, 20 seconds to scan read all of the thread titles in the movie forum to see if a similare thread is already in existence.Raymond T. wrote:I happen to have gotten the news by other means. Do you guys not understand that we have other jobs then to search the forums and such all day?
If you want it newsified you need to use the submit news button--which is even quicker than us surfing all the threads. That is the quickest way for you to make us aware of something, if you are worried about who gets credit for it first.
And why can you not accept that Raymond T got it elsewhere? He may have been working on that story for a bit, and then it was posted.
Why do some of you guys seem to have it in for some of us news guys lately? We change things if we find that we are in error. Raymond T had another source so he is not in error.
BTW: I hope there is no transforming toilet in the movie, but that was kind 'a funny!
Posted by Anonymous on May 24th, 2007 @ 2:58pm CDT
Yeah. Like I said. 20 seconds to scan read the thread titles, looking for words relevant to the subject you are going to post something about. Like a thread named Raving Rabbids parody in the first 10 topics of the page. Hell, there's even the ever handy ctrl+f search.tigertracks 24 wrote:It's not a lame excuse.

You are of course allowed your opinion, and YOU may think it is easy, but when you have other responsibilities, it is not, in my opinion.
What stops the person from clicking the 'submit news' button? It's quicker, and as I said, it also ALERTS us through e-mail that there is something we should look at.
For you to also disregard Raymond T's 'other source' is being a bit narrow minded. It is possible for us to be looking other places then just Seibertron for the news, in fact we often need to verify that stories are true with multiple sources.
You guys are good, but we do try to expand our sources past what the community here comes up with. If we did not, well, we'd be missing a lot of news, or getting it late.
EDIT: I know you will still bring up the 'scan 20 seconds' argument, but it's not that quick, and it's not just one forum.
Also, it helps to give a little positive when you are going to say something negative. Tell him what a good job is being done, then state your idea, and be understanding and open to other points of view, commitments, and skill levels with technology.

I really don't see what other responsibilities got to do with anything. If those responsibilities completely take away all your time (so much in fact that there is absolutely no time for a quick ctrl+f search ) then you shouldn't be on the news crew to begin with?tigertracks 24 wrote:Spoon wrote:Yeah. and I can't and won't speak for other people. If the creator of that other thread wants credits and whatnot its his problem, not mine.
The only reason i'm having this 'wonderful discussion' right now is that it annoys me on how you guys respond to this. A simple "Oh I didn't see that, sorry." or whatever would be enough in my book. Instead you and Raymond immediatly turn defensive and start to write complete essays in your own defense on how your 'real life' prevents you from doing stuff online.tigertracks 24 wrote:Also, it helps to give a little positive when you are going to say something negative. Wow. You really don't get it do you?
1.) They run the board, you are a guest here (be thankful you haven't been kicked out of here).
2.) They do what they can within the confines given them, if it bothers you...there's the door.
3.) The search feature on the board is broken. I haven't been able to get it work except twice.
So before you start going off on one of your tirades and complaining about the people running this place, you might want to do a bit of research before opening your yap. Once you're more informed, if you still feel a need to make a complete ass out of yourself...go right ahead, but don't expect anyone to assist you or keep you from getting the boot.
Now...be quiet, other people are trying to enjoy this thread, over your cries of "WHINE! MOAN! OH WOE IS ME!"
About the video:
The plunger at the end was priceless, and... is it wrong of me to want that toilet? LOL

Anyway, does the news submission form actually post the article as news or set up a discussion?

Whoa. Watch yourself. Believe me, I shot off my mouth to one of the people helping to run this place and I got a warning. They will reprimand you for it. You got a mouth on you, put it in check.

Spoon, it would be very helpful and very appreciated if you and some of the other users on the staff would help point out new news posts on the message board. To help everyone out, I added a "Submit News" link in the site's main navigation.
It's tough to keep track of everything that's going on in the regular forums. There's a lot of posts and things can get easily overlooked, especially since the search functionality isn't working on the forums at the moment. The newest version of phpBB was released earlier this week and I'm planning on spending some time this weekend to figure out how best to integrate it into Seibertron.com so we'll have all of the new features from phpBB as well as a working search functionality and other features fixed.
