Can you believe it? We're about to enter the 27th year of the Transformers franchise! While franchises have become defunct, or have fallen off the face of the Earth, we have stood strong together. Certainly it hasn't always been pretty, take the transition from Generation One to Beast Wars, or the split-opinion on Michael Bay's Live-Action films as examples. However as a long-time fan and member of this site, as long as Transformers continues to be what it is - the heroic Optimus Prime fighting against all odds, or that joy you get when you open up toy packaging - then every year will be a great one.
Before we embark into 2011, I think it's suitable that we celebrate 2010. With that notion, I have the help of eight of my fellow staff members - Burn, Counterpunch, Dead Metal, Delicon, DevastaTTor, Diem, Mach, and Razorclaw0000. Before you get to know their Transformers tastes, let's get to know a little bit more about the people who help maintain Seibertron.com and assist this wonderful community!
- I'm Blurrz, from the land they call Canada. Armada crazed, and you don't need to guess who my favorite Transformer is.
- Burn is here to give us his "disgruntled" "I-like-my-TF's-as-bricks" opinion. We're not actually sure what he does on the staff though!
- Counterpunch has a knack of making other people buy Transformers. He also keeps the forums safe with burning justice, or was that Punch?
- Dead Metal is crazy, from Germany, and he helps out the news crew while most of us are fast asleep. Did I mention he's crazy?
- Delicon is a humble Transformers fan from the Northeast United States. He keeps the news up and running.
- DevastaTTor has this addiction to collect transforming plastic toys. You might have heard of it.
- Diem spent most of the year in Takara territory, and made his way back to the US later on. He got married this year, so congratulations!
- Mach keeps the news looking mighty fine from Singapore. He's an Optimus Prime fanatic, he probably has more blue and red trucks than you!
- Razorclaw0000 is a big contributer on the News Crew, and still has the time to maintain one of the most comprehensive Mini-con collections in the world!
Now that you know a little more about the staff, here's how we're going to reflect on 2010. We're each picking our favorite candidate for the following categories listed below. Once you're done reading our input, we'd like to see yours by replying in the forums through the 'Discuss This Topic' link above. If you are interested in one of our many different selections, links will be provided to galleries of the featured toys so you can follow along!

I too want more figures in his exact shade of red!
but, you still need a shout out to cybertronian megatron, the most megatronish megatron in ages.
I'll have to try and stop there cos I can feel a list coming on...
HFTD payload neeeds a mention, as the UK was never graced with the awesomeness of long haul and his dirty tarnished paint scheme is great with the clear red snap out swords.
NEST brakedown is pure love.
HFTD hubcap for best thirties car alt mode...
i'm gonna stop now.
have a happy new year seibertronians!

Love the picks and the comments. I'm sorry I did not get to contribute, but well, that's been me lately.
Great job organizing this Blurrz.
Happy New Year Seibertronians. I am truly looking forward to 2011 from a hardcore G1 fan and collector POV.

Expect a transforming Seibertron in 2011.
You know, they did do a transforming Seibertron this year. The repaint of Primus. So you may be on to something.
Nice read, as always.

Figure: Either movieverse Bludgeon or Starscream (leader version)
Toy Line: Generations, hands down
Moment: The premiere of Transformers: Prime or the premiere of the DotM trailer
3rd Party: Crossfire 02
PCC: Icepick
A great read.

Figures like Terradive are hidden gems. Some people either completely ignore "movie-related" lines or just go after "screen characters" but he's really a great addition to any collection.
I was surprised they put Lockdown in the N.E.S.T. line but I hope his popularity brings on more crossover homages like that which we would never expect.

I feel like there are a lot of figures that are good but don't have the "star quality" that a list like this demands. Tomahawk, Terradive, Highbrow, Breacher and so on.

Burn wrote:I wasn't too fussed with Terradive actually. Sure he's a decent enough figure, but the pics got me hyped up but when I busted him out of the packet he ... meh.
I absolutely agree.
And the vintage NEW Star Wars AT-AT is toy of the year. Oh yeah, Transformers.
I truly think Elite Guard Prowl is a fabulous exclusive. As for Lockdown, I like him, but I really want Axor to see how much cooler he is.
The best Botcon figure was Scorch. Loved the new deco on a very underrated figure who has NOT had a single repaint, until that point. Hound still needs better weapons though. The fact that we received an SG Ravage with him is cake!
Best leader- wasn't one for me, although from what I read, it should be Starscream, I really don't want to spend that kind of money on a movie toy again. Have to be a real WOW piece to get me to drop that again (waste).
Best Line- It's hard to say Generations, it's really only just started. But so has PCC really. That only leaves us with movie toys like Hunt for the Decepticons, and while they are good, they are not my favorite.
Best PCC- I have to agree with the poster that said Icepick. He is a really cool and fairly original (rarely used alt), a really good minicon, a really nice robot mode that reminds one of BW Dinobot, and a really weird, but not quite as odd as MUDSLINGER, commander head. Kind of like Snowmeiser or whatever his name was from that awesome Christmas special, "The Year Without A Santa Claus".
Best Scout- Maybe, I will go with PCC Sledge on this one. Fantastic figure, and both robot heads are excellent!!! Breacher is awesome too, and I am patiently waiting for an awesome repaint of him.
Overlooked Figure- Crankstart or any of its iterations (was this a 2009 figure originally? Probably.)
Best Voyager- Bludgeon is hard to beat. Mindwipe has been mentioned. The only others I can think of would be Seaspray, Special Ops Ratchet, and Payload. Seaspray is an interesting new mold, the other two are repaints. So not much else to choose than what is already here. I suppose there was that Ironhide with all the weapons (Best Accessories!), and then there was like Battle Hooks Prime, but again, not better than any of those already mentioned.
I am going to agree with an Animated figure for this, Takara release, Animated Blackout. Very, very excellent figure. It really needs a domestic release.
Best Deluxe- RTS Tracks. Fantastic new iteration of a long overdue character. Not out in saturation yet, so he may need to be in next year's discussion, as would Jazz.
Best Animated- Black Convoy. I know it's an exclusive, but that doesn't make it any less fantastic! And it's black!
Best I got off the top of my head.

I totally agree.... What is with the super loose joings on this figure. Start to transform him and the legs fall off. Looks like a job for super glue.
Same for Tomahawk. But the good thing is that legs don't fall off, they're just super loose on thos hip joints. Would have been nice had a tiny bit more care gone into making these.

I didn't have any problems like that at all with Terradive...now Darkmount and going back a little further the ROTF Scouts (especially the first run) would be a different story.

This is why I passed him up when I found him at Walmart. I saw him and Tomahawk and was overjoyed until I examined them closely and they just didn't look as good as the pics showed them.

Figure: Either movieverse Bludgeon/Banzaitron or MindWipe
Toy Line: Generations, hands down and some of the RtS figures too.
Moment: The premiere of Transformers: Prime or the premiere of the DotM trailer
3rd Party: Crossfire set and Protector for Hot Rod
A great read.

If you'd ask me who my favorite figure of 2010 was even a week ago, I'd have said Drift. Yeah, the character is on the edge between epic and fail, but you can't fault the toy. However, two days ago I finally got Generations Red Alert, and I'm in love. G1 Red was one of the few G1 toys that I remember having for sure when I was a kid (along with Ultra Magnus) and I've had my eye on the new toy for quite some time. Now that I own it, I'm not disappointed. He's great! The only downside is that I can't decide what to do with the supercharger... I don't like attaching it to the gun, but it doesn't really clip on anywhere else. Ah well. On the gun it goes!
Posted by Overcracker on April 10th, 2011 @ 8:07pm CDT
The charger clips onto his back, same two slots it clips to in vehicle mode.
By the way the charger on the gun idea was a bad one since Sunstreaker.
And yes its a good mold. Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Punch/Counterpunch, and G2 Breakdown can attest to that.

Overcracker wrote:I take it you don't have any of the previus versions of this mold.

I can't seem to get it to fit there. I think the holes that the supercharger clicked into are covered by the lightbar in the Generations version of the mold. The charger has four pegs, but because of the lightbar, you can only fit it into the two holes that are on the back of the car, which becomes his legs.
The holes that are in front of the lightbar are too close together for the charger to fit into.
