It's too bad this show turned out to suck so much. I watched the first episode and was moderately interested, thinking that the whole series would follow the pattern they laid out in that episode. Week 2 comes around and it turned into American idol. Once I saw the generic host on stage amid hundreds of audience members clapping & booing saying things like "America has voted...", I officially checked out.

Though I might watch it tonight. Hearing Michael Bay & Shia LeBeouf of all people giving crticisms to anyone about anything should prove fairly comedic. On a credibility level, that's right up there with David Hasslehoff & Sharon Osbourne judging somebody :)

You know, I've said a lot about this movie and Bay, but I have to say it's really awesome that Transformers is finally getting the props it deserves. I haven't heard so much talk about the Transformers in the mainstream, since...well 1986...*GASP* I'm a G1 purist traitor!

Only if by 'mainstream' you mean 'adults who don't have a son or grandson between the ages of 5 and 13'. It may have been forgotten by bachelors and bachelorettes in their mid 20's and up, but it's consistently been one of the strongest-selling toy brands since the beginning of G1 (though with a few missteps) and that money's been coming from somewhere. That was the case with G1 as well. Everyone seems to fondly remember the advertising and merchandising blitz that came with the animated movie but forget that it was a commercial flop that only parents bought tickets for.

This show is pretty boring, but it's cool seeing Bay on there. Maybe they'll show a clip from the movie, who knows?

I'm watching it right now and it just goes to show how much of an a$$ Bay is. "Your need to work on editing", "It seemed like you took an idea and stretched it too far". Too bad the contests didn't know he was going to be the guest judge ahead of time so they could just put four or five explosions together and he would be all "Stupendous!"

What a douchebag.

The short films needed more giant f'ing robots. He said it, honest!

But I did like the bakery musical. Even without any robots.

Yes, that would explain his fav short films being about a gay comedian's journey (which he gave high praise) and a bakery musical.

No, it just goes to show how generic of a director he is. The bakery was the best one, imo, but everytime he opened his mouth he just said something completely generic. "Work on style", "Work on editing", etc. At least, Garry Marshall and, sometimes, Carrie Fisher were smart enough to pinpoint within the films what should be changed.

The best advice that was given was from Marshall when he told the bakery guy that the fact that the two actors weren't looking at each other at the end of the film was bad instead of giving a generic statement like Bay does.

And that gay comedic film; what cr@p. I was watching it going "what the he|| is this?" and Fisher and Marshall were kind of saying it in a nice way of "not what I expected, but ok". If Bay loved that film so much then that only scares me even more as it might be a foreshadowing of the overly-thick amount of human scenes in this upcoming TF movie.

Since when is polishing your style and editing generic? After all this is a visual medium and not a radio show. He did say that musicals are known for highly visual styles. The bakery scene was one of my fav ones. The story was perfect as was the acting. Why would he criticize as aspect that was perfect to begining with?

Did they need to look at each other? Would that have conveyed that they were in it for sex and money?

That was the best one of the night. It had a unique style and voice. Or do you not like gay themes in films?

Yes, Bay will bait and switch the audience

Bay: come see giant fucking robots!!!!

Audience member #1: this is bullshit! This movie is just 2 hours of people just talking and hardly CGI robots.

Audience member #2: Hey that reminds of of that lame Pirates movie that came out a couple weeks ago...all blah-blah-blah for 2 hours and hardly any pirate action.

1.) I didn't say that working on style and editing was generic; his statements were completely generic. Marshall and Fisher would tell the people what was wrong and state how things in the film should specifically be changed rather than just stating "work on (fill-in film terminology)".

2.) The bakery film was about two different people searching for a different goal and revolved so that they both found their respective goal through each other and then one of them turns away from looking from the other in the last shot; as Marshall was pointing out that doesn't match up with the aforementioned idea.

3.) I have no problem with homosexuals. The problem I have is that this is a competition for directors and she made a documentary. If you want to make documentaries, then go make documentaries. That is what Marshall and Fisher were trying to say in a nice way was "Wasn't expecting a documentary".

4.) Again, this is what scares me about Bay is that the TF film will be come a blockbuster documentary about the humans having to deal with the Transformers showing up on Earth. I'm not saying it will be, I'm just saying I hope that it is not. The humans need to be there to interact with the Transformers, but there shouldn't be huge backstories to all of the main human characters like the army guys and so forth.
