The folks over at Shout! Factory have sent us the details on the soon to be released Season 2 Volume 1 edition of Transformers Generation One the cartoon. According to the details, its due to hit store shelves on September 15th 2009, but according to a report by Seibertron.com member Dr. Heavy B, FYE Stores may already have it available for purchase.

On September 15th, Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc., will release The Transformers: Season Two Volume, One 25th Anniversary Edition DVD box set! This 4 disc DVD set includes the first 28 episodes from the second season of The Transformers including fan favorites such as Dinobot Island and Enter The Nightbird. Get ready for the Autobots and Decepticons as THE TRANSFORMERS: SEASON TWO, VOLUME ONE 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION comes to DVD on September 15, 2009!

hmmm....i have the silver DVD box sets from a few years back, so my question is are these sets better quality or new special features? just trying to figure oyut if i want to reinvest in a set i already have.

Season 2 is 48 episodes long. If they were to release it together, it'd cost a hell of a lot more than the under $30 it's being sold for currently.

Yea I broke down and went to the Target on the other side of town to buy it. To tell the truth I'm a little dissapointed with this DVD set. Apparently the good episodes (Search for Alpha Trion, Dawn of War, Key to Vector Sigma) are all on the second half of the season.
Anyone know when the second volume comes out?

I lended by vol 1 (first 5 eps) to somebody and now it's gone forever. So, might have to buy them all again. I typically just get them from Wal-Mart or Target when possible.

Do you mean the Vol 1 that Rhino put out a few years ago? If that's all you are missing, you can buy the Shout! factory version of the same thing, they are selling it as "The more than meets the eye" miniseries, but it also contains the next 2 episodes as well.
