I don't own any version of defensor yet. I would not mind picking up the CW protectorbots + get a free groove. Only concern is if they include the feet/hand part with groove.

Times have changed, I guess.

Thanks! I know what it is. My point is you don't put out the resources and time into all that packaging to produce 500-1000 units for give aways. I'm thinking it's a good bet Groove is headed our way.Sabrblade wrote:It's the TRU Taiwan exclusive - http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/taiwan-tru-offering-free-takara-transformers-unite-warriors-groove-with-minimum-purchase/34973/

Care to wager a Shiny New Combiner Wars Deluxe Groove on that?
Oh, and btw, you'd be paying for shipping too.

Uh, when? I checked the last few pages and nada. I think you're thinking of the Legends thread where you compared Predacus to the Legends EX Beast Wars guys. Or something else entirely.
As for Groove, I hope he gets a North American release somehow. I want him so.
Now here's a question. Can anybody spot any differences from the Takara version? I know it's a low-quality packaged shot, but it's a start.

U.S. packaging for CW Deluxes is monolingual and includes a comic book.
It also recycles the old Transformers Legends mobile game artwork for Groove, and appears to be virtually unchanged from Takara's deco.
This is more than likely the Taiwan TRU exclusive, cobbled together by Hasbro Asia.

Sabrblade wrote:That's also not U.S. packaging. That's international packaging.
Which we've technically gotten in the states before, since CW wave 1 comics weren't ready when they had to ship. I know Hasbro prefers to give us the comic packaging, but I don't think they'd ruffle too many feathers if the multilingual packaging was released in the US and other NA territories.

Not surprising since a lot of figures in the line used Legends artwork, even if it's radically different from the toy design. Flipping through the cards I have, Skydive, Dragstrip, Silverbolt, Motormaster, Hot Spot, and Megatron all use Legends art that is clearly not of their CW toy.

I remain cautiously optimistic, but I'll nab one on the secondary market if I have to.

Bah, Cobotron wrote the same line in the combiner wars thread where I answered this: transformers-generations-combiner-wars-discussion-thread-p1775190.php#p1775019
Which is similar to Sabr's response.
Anyways, there is a different between Hasbro and Takara. The motorcycle stand is black on one and white on the other. I am sure we will see more once people get this one in hand.

Prime is overall better, but I really wish they had added decos to his matrix chamber.
Prowl is mostly the same, but I prefer the color scheme from Takara. Plus, every CW Prowl I saw when I was buying had uneven paint on his head crest, so this worked out for me.
Ironhide is more cartoon-ish, but I actually like the Hasbro colors better over all. It doesn't help that there is a partial thumbprint in my Takara version's striping. QQ

It's going to be a standard release so it's 15000 yen which would be about $135 in freedom bucks. If you import there will be discounts depending on which site you choose. Anime export will most likely have a 30% discount so it'll be around $95 but they typically sell out quick.

Both would cost you about 250$ shipped.
I dont need to mix and match anything, just take takara as this looks awesome! I already have the cosmos mold anyway and no need for fancy feet when that means the scramble city combiners dont all stand as tall.
Now we know 2 additonal things:
1: this comes out in august
2: afterburner is supposed to have that canopy windshiwld folded down
I dont think we lose whichever version we get as they all have new stuff and while takara might be the way to go I just want to see both before making up my choice. But regardles I dont think we'll need to mix and match too much.
Posted by Sabrblade on March 25th, 2016 @ 10:32am CDT
Afterburner = UW Groove mold
Strafe = UW Blast Off mold
Lightspeed = CW Wheeljack mold
Nosecone = CW Rook mold

Scattershot is also not the same as Hasbro's due to the retooling of Computron's chest and head (who knows if other changes exist).

I meant that it uses that same mold as a base, much like how Nosecone uses the Rook mold but not without changes to the mold.Powered Convoy wrote:Scattershot is also not the same as Hasbro's due to the retooling of Computron's chest and head (who knows if other changes exist).

I'm thinking that since 1) Hasbro's G2 Bruticus still uses the Firefly/Slingshot mold, and 2) Takara has now retooled shuttle blast off, that we actually may not see a Hasbro shuttle blast off release. So, since I already have Hasbro Bruticus (I really don't mind Blast Off as a jet), Going Takara for Computron at least gets me a version of the blast off mold which I don't have.

1: The drill is removable, so Comp can have a drill hand.
2: He has Rook's nubs, so he can have a hulk hand and a giant drill (if it's removable).

I've got to believe the drill is removable since I believe there is already a 5mm port on the front of Rook, so they would only need to create the new drill piece for the alt mode. Leg mode would likely need a minor retool or additional partsform to connect the drill in the toy accurate downward position. This would likely also work for bot mode as well

To be fair though, CW Wheeljack has by far the closest vehicle mode to G1 Lightspeed out of all the available car molds in Combiner Wars...
G1 Lightspeed:
CW Dead End/Brake-neck Mold:
CW Breakdown Mold/Sunstreaker:
CW Streetwise/Prowl/Smokescreen Mold:
CW Wheeljack Mold:
