I can now reveal that Hasbro will be releasing TakaraTOMY's Unite Warriors Superion set here. I don't know what the price will be, but I've been told that this will be out at Toys R Us in July. This is another set of instructions which I've translated for Hasbro
Contents page. The name of Silverbolt's shield is based on a name nominated and voted on by Australian Transformers fans.
The Japanese version shows the function and name of each Aerialbot in Japanese, with just their name written in English in smaller subtitles below the line. For Hasbro's version, I've translated the functions and names to English, and included their mottos in English, Latin and Japanese.

Its interesting Australia sells takara products in retail stores side by side with hasbro products. That kind of flushes the whole "for the Japanese market" excuse down the toilet.

They've been doing that for years, you know?
Australia has done a few special, normally TakaraTomy-only, releases, like Masterpiece MP-2 Ultra Magnus, Jetwing Optimus Prime, Masterpiece MP-22 Ultra Magnus, Masterpiece MP-24 Star Saber (with the bio of the IDW character) and now Unite Warriors Superion. Consider them "off the record", or in other words "don't apply to official statements".

I feel the talk of exclusivity is pointless if we ignore price. In this day and age with the internet nothing is truly exclusive depending on one's definition but the golden rule remains the same: exclusivity means there is one direct source/outlet for the lowest price.
Which is why that cheap Defensor/Guardian mystifies me beyond belief.
You would think that all the mysteries would be solved once Takara released pictures of their Guardian but instead I have even more questions.

And how many TF fans are there really in AU? Like ten?

Maybe fans who mainly know the franchise from the G1 cartoon and/or toy line? Who don't see Slingshot as dead? Yes, I acknowledge he died in the comics. Comics I don't read. To me, Slingshot is still alive.
I get the Arialbots I want. You get the Arialbots you want. Some people get all the Arialbots and get to go, "Woo hoo! More toys for me! Yay!" Why is this even still an issue, aside from people who want to intentionally troll the issue...
Oh, wait. Never mind. Guess I just answered my own question.

Or a leg? I wouldn't mind having one. My father has had polio so his leg's in a brace, plus he works for an airline company.

More than enough to warrant this release, and the ones before.

What if I just want to recreate a scene from G1, you know, when Slingshot was alive? I wonder what Rated X would have to say about seeing G1 as dead and that there is no need for a Slingshot combiner Wars figure.
I wish I could say it was nice to have you back Shockblast 2, but that would be a lie.
I guess our vacation is over people.

When I was at TRU the other day they already had Star Sabre in stock, but in the past I've seen Wheeljack, Bumblebee, and Ultra Magnus. It's still cheaper to import from HLJ directly.

I was gonna use the Darth Vader NOOOOOO clip but I realize I used it at least 2 times before so that might look like spamming and that would be just as bad. Oh no, what do to, please let me keep my job. I will put Stalker in an upcoming list.

Most "excusive" releases like that end up at Toys R Us or Myer, rather than big box retailers. Remember Over here, Toys R Us, Target, even Hasbro are completely different entities than over in NA, as any agreements over there have nothing whatsoever to do with us here. I believe Hasbro AU is a division of Hasbro Asia, so anything Hasbro sells in Asia, like the Takara releases, can end up on shelves here. Just too bad the nearest TRU is 45min away...

Yeah but who really shops at Myer?
Last time I stepped in there was to look for CW given that there had been sightings of them in every other Myer around the country. They barely had half a dozen TF's.

No it doesn't.
Different markets. And as Burn and the other Aussies stated, waaaaaaaaaay more expensive than importing. Read JZGRs post about the other REAL WORLD factors that comes packaged in a CAPITALIST economic system.

Sarcasm? No. Misattribution coupled with hyperbole? Most likely. I suspect more familiarity with shockblast2's unique views on Transformers fandom will make this distinction a lot more clear for you.
I find this news rather interesting, especially because this set is NOT just a case of Australia directly importing Takara's goods, but a specially modified release complete with English packaging and instructions. Honestly, I would not be surprised if this set eventually turn ups in some other outlets around the globe. Gift sets like these are popular gifts for parents who don't want to track down each individual figure for their child's wish list.

Wolfman Jake wrote:Another interesting note on this English packaging released by Takara: Slingshot is translated as "Quickslinger." That's Hasbro's latest name that's trademarkable (Slingshot is not), but it's also not Takara's name for the same character, "Sling." That's some interesting new synergy between Takara and Hasbro, though I guess recent reveals like Sharpnel vs. Shrapnel in the Transformers Adventure line is a very similar case. Or maybe the person laying out the English instructions just pulled the first English name he could find for the figure without giving it much thought. Still, it's interesting.
Yeah, I am thinking its the translator's intention to use the hasbro name since that would be what english buyers would be familiar with and looking for. But more because they are seeking uniformity and not because they are necessarily lazy. It is quite interesting,

I like that, unless it is just a trick of the light, Slingshot's eyes are actually a slightly different shade of orange.
Overall, a slightly odd selection of pics, though... If not for the inclusion of Drag Strip, I'd think they were just pics of, "Here are the guys Hasbro left out!" But Drag Strip kind of throws that theme out of the window...

Groove looks good but I prefer Rook in his place with Groove as a chestplate. I'd totally be down for the mold as Afterburner though.
Wildrider and Slingshot I don't care about. I don't mind the use of retools at all but I don't really want to have 2 of the same mold in a combiner. I hope the inevitable Alpha Bravo into Vortex retool has some serious bodywork done to make him less obviously a grey Alpha Bravo.

'But what about the...'
'Wizard!'
'But in this scene it very clearly...'
'WIZARD!!!'
Even in the Prime series, they had to make Arcee mass form a LOT to make her even close to the size of the other Autobots. If her robot mode remained true to the mass and size she had as a motorcycle, she'd have only been maybe seven or eight feet tall and a few hundred pounds, not the near-twenty feet and 2-3 tons they had her clomping around in on the show.
Groove would suffer similarly. Even the biggest, beefiest motorcycles on the roads today don't come anywhere near to being as massive as an Ambulance or a sports car. Sure, you can MAKE one that big, but a person riding around in such a king-sized motorcycle would look ridiculous, just as a grown man would look ridiculous trying to ride on a children's tricycle.
So I have no problem replacing Rook as Defensor's left leg with a vehicle that's more 'in scale'. I just can't suspend my disbelief enough to accept a 2-wheeler vehicle designed to carry only 1-2 persons having enough mass and weight to compare with the others.

I have to agree I like Groove as legends size better. I am pretty much a G1 purist having been 6 and obsessed with Transformers in 84' and I like my minibots legends size and Groove will fit right in. Deluxe Groove does look great and I can justify him being that big of a bike in alt mode as like the junkions where another bot can ride him.
Posted by Cyberpath on June 3rd, 2015 @ 10:29am CDT
It's fun.
But if anyone still wants deluxe Groove for the "G1" accuracy but has issues with the scale of the vehicular-mode, they could use him as a Transformer's motorbike like the Junkions in TFTM. Could make for some cool poses of the other bots riding the motorcycle.

I like your positivity with hasbro's approach. But Groove wouldn't be the only thing not in scale. A Helicopter is bigger than an ambulance which is bigger than a sports car, no?
