TakaraTomy has uploaded a new web series called "3 Transformers", starring the Studio Series toys of Optimus Prime, Ratchet, and Bumblebee.
A parody of The 3 Little Pigs, this first episode is titled "Let's Make a House!"
From what I can gather from the bad auto-translation of the closed captions, in the year 20XX, three Transformers (Optimus Prime, Ratchet, and Bumblebee) come to a new land to live there, and each decide to build a house for them all to live in.
Bumblebee decides to build a house made of straw because it is light and easy to work with, completing his work in less than a day. Optimus, however, is worried that the straw house may not be able to withstand an attack should one occur, and Ratchet thus decides to build a more durable house. Bumblebee, however, does not take their concerns to heart, basically telling them both not to worry so much.
Nonetheless, Ratchet proceeds to build a stronger house out of wood and made with more care, which takes him two days to complete. Optimus is more impressed with this house, but still can't shake his anxiety.
So, Optimus takes it upon himself to build an even stronger house, this time one made with bricks. Unlike the others, it take Optimus a whole five days to complete the brick house. And it turns out to be a good thing that he finished when he did, too, because, all of a sudden, the ground begins to shake.
"The footsteps of a sinister sound echoed in the distance."

If anyone is curious, that's a Zoids Death Rex at the end. I figured it was a Zoid from the feet and it didn't take long to find one on HLJ. I was hoping this would end with a SS Devastator full preview, but I guess not yet.

I think Grindor might be bigger on-screen, not sure. Optimus' climbing up onto him makes it seem like that's the case but it's hard to tell. That said, a Leader Blackout nonetheless scales better with movie figures outside of SS than the Voyager, plus he's more accurate.

Grindor differs from Blackout in more ways than just his colors. While Blackout is a Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low, Grindor is the slightly different Sikorsky CH-53E Super Stallion. The former model was retired from active service in 2008.
For Grindor, some slight vehicle mode retooling may be in order.

we know 2 Leader figures next year are Overload and Scavenger, so a 3rd would probably come out next year at the same time the leader Prime this year comes out.
I very much doubt we will get a Grindor

Hopefully that means it’ll be shipping from Pulse sooner than the September 1 estimate!
Also, there’s a 360 degree view of the figure on that page! That’s our first look at the back of the jet pack and weapons platform. The paint deco is the one from toy fair though (bright red and yellow fade), which is interesting because we now have no less than 3 different stock images of this Prime with slightly different decos.

Would be a good litmus test: if Grindor is released as a straight redeco of Blackout, how many fans will complain about the vehicle being inaccurate and talk down on the Studio Series as a whole?

They released this thing, didn't they?:
People hate this thing's guts for being inaccurate, and it is still shelfwarming since... December? Primus...
Either way, whether they retool the copter to leave an inaccurate robot, or redeco the mold to have an inaccurate copter mode, fans will still be bothered, so it all boils down to whatever you prefer.

I know that, but I wanted to focus on the criticism about his inaccuracy to the movie character, much like the discussion about whether or not Grindor should be a retool or redeco of Blackout.
And on the subject of Dropkopter, while it may be fiddly to handle and transform, it is nowhere near Bold Forms Gladius...

Which browser do you use? I use Firefox, most recent version, and if the picture was supposed to have any interactivity it was proving completely nonfunctional for me.
EDIT: I guess my browser was just misbehaving that time, possibly from the length of the session.
I tried it again just now, and this time the ALL the pictures loaded as well as the 360 view vid, and the "Large View" function actually functioned.

I'm using the Walmart app, and while the preorder listing is there, there are only the stock photos on it, with no turn around video. Target has removed its listing from the app, which is strange considering it was there for like a month or two.

Technically we have four variations going here:
Bright red with painted weapons (Toy Fair display)
Dark red with unpainted weapons (April Stock Photos)
Bright red with unpainted weapons (Walmart.com spinning video)
Painted abs, bright red with unpainted weapons (new Takara Tomy stock photos)
I don't think we'll actually know what we're getting until somebody has one in hand.

One of the decos for SS leader Prime has a fade that matches the movie much better, we just have to hope that it’s the one on the final figure.

IIRC, the biggest visible differences are that Grindor should have 7 rotor blades instead of 6, a third engine above and behind the left one, and the tail fin and rotor angled to the right. I think it's to the right.
FWIW I added a third engine to ROTF Voy Grindor, but another rotor blade would be tricky.

In terms of the variations in stock images, I’m hoping for bright red, painted abs, unpainted guns, but I’m expecting unpainted abs and unpainted guns. I already know there’s no way we’re getting painted weapon accessories.

I’d love it if they did Grindor. Just so long as they make the necessary retooling. SS Blackout is still my favorite SS figure, despite his panels.

That trailer is the main reason I may skip #32 Optimus Prime, it's the same mold with a different belly, but the original RotF belly piece comes with Jetfire. I already have the two original Leaders, but the combination is so... clunky.

Oh don't get me wrong, I think if you don't have ss38, or a movie Optimus in general, this is probably your best bet. It's a nice lookong toy, it just doesn't have enough to tempt me into double dipping, if you know what I mean. Plus the Jetfire combination being actually, you know, good this time is a nice bonus

I know a bunch of people were gonna skip 32 and go straight for the Leader for this reason too.
But I went both both cause A) didn't get the first Prime and B) I want to have one separate standing by himself with no upgrades and 1 with his flight tech, and the leader can serve as both! I think my favorite part of the leader is that he comes with the axe

Depending on the paint apps. If I remember correctly, one of the prototypes had clear windows. The amount of paint variants here is so confusing

We'll have to wait and see then. I'm fine with that, I'm waiting for the second set of Constructicons as it is.

Drift is an extensive retool of the original Dropkick figure, being almost entirely new save for some parts of the legs, and he is based on his helicoptor form from Age of Extinction.
Dropkick is a new mold that is modeled after his muscle car form from the Bumblebee movie, prior to his taking on the triple changing form that he held for the remainder of the movie.
Hightower is based on some Constructicon concept art and the smaller Hightower legion figure that came out with the tiny Legion class Devastator during Revenge of the Fallen. Hightower is a new mold, and he forms the upper left arm of Studio Series Devastator.
Long Haul is also a new mold Constructicon, and he forms the right foot of Studio Series Devastator. He and Hightower will make 4 of 8 members of Devastator released at retail.
Check out the pictures below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Not exactly: he forms the left upper arm, with Scrapmetal forming the actual hand.
Comparing Long Haul's foot mode with Rampage's, there's no doubt that Devastator is gonna look "messy" head to toe, in an artistic sense.

That chopper mode works way better on Drift I think it’s not great for either one but better on Drfift.

I doubt it. I imagine it's more that Dropkick design is fairly standard as carformers go (front becomes the chest, door wings, etc ad infinitum), so similarities are inevitable.

The Constructicons are definitely the ones I’m looking forward to the most. I love for stubby and chunky Long Haul is. He’s certainly different enough from his RotF figure that I can have them together, and headcanon them into different but similar bots. I might be more excited for Hightower though? He’s got such a wonderfully unique and bizarre bot mode. Having another unorthodox looking Constructicon kind of makes Rampage’s and Demolisher’s appearance make more sense to me.
Speaking of him, are we getting a SS Demolisher???

No, not a retool, most likely a new mold that may share some transformation aspects. There are 2 areas that give it away that is it definitely not the Siege Prowl mold. First is the very front of the car. They have a similar panel in the hood where the head pops out, but for dropkick the front bumper is involved where for Prowl the whole hood and bumper is 1 solid piece. The other tell are the wheels, they end up on the shoulders and the forearms for Dropkick. For Prowl, the rear wheels stay on his feet.
It just wouldn't make sense to retool a mold with those changes to the transformation. It would just be easier going with a new mold that takes some aspects of the transformation from Prowl and other like him where the hood/bumper becomes the chest.

Technically, they are; the Constructicons that formed Devy in ROTF were different 'Cons, entirely separate from the ones that were fighting OP. This includes Scrapmetal; he did not die at the bottom of the ocean. I noticed all this when I recently rewatched the movie. Devastator is at the Pyramid, while Longhaul, Mixmaster, Scrapper, and Rampage are all fighting/dying near some ruins.

Actually, I believe Devy's component is going to be Scavenger (all red) instead of Demolisher (red and white) who was killed off before Devy made his appearance in the movie. But, there is a very good chance of getting a Scavenger redeco as Demolisher down the line somewhere.
