Blame Lego themselves. Ever noticed that Legos are seldom on sale, contrary to Megablocks, Kreo, and others?

Yup, now that they are the biggest(?) toy brand, they can throw their weight around and force people to buy their stuff at full price

Even so, I can never find any sort of transformers I am actually looking for there, so I never usually shop online there

Your right BUT Winner has been selling them at quite a discount. This set below is usually 140$ cdn (106$US) but at Winners, it was 99$ (75$US):

Not bad considering the msrp, but it's also a year old, so it's not really lost much value, they (Lego) rarely let their sets even go on clearance

I don't have much experience with target online but I can't remember any good deals there. In store if you get lucky and you're there on the right day in the right store; they do some major price slashing. I always stalk the clearance end caps when I visit.william-james88 wrote:Question, I am contemplating getting the target exclusive Blaster and Perceptor set but I would like to know about Target's sale habits. Right now, I can get it for 20% off, but if the item is unpopular (which this one and most G1 reissues are due to price and niche market), does Target usually lower it even more? How cheap have exclusives gotten in the past for Target? (Target Canada's everything must literally go sale not withstanding).
I've gotten some really great deals on games and figures over the years. Their exclusive Prime Predaking went crazy low in stores just a few years ago.
I have noticed that they are starting to copy Amazon and state how many are left when inventory gets low. Probably a dice roll either way.

Will, you already have a discount RIGHT NOW. I don't think the Red Labels would ever apply on online items so my guess is better safe than sorry. Buy now.
Posted by momentai on November 1st, 2015 @ 9:31am CST
I wasn't in the mood to keep arguing, so just left the toys since I can get them anywhere, just wanted the discount. But just checked, and online, the discount applies to the whole order.

Target exclusives go on clearance often, but it's a crap shoot. If it goes on clearance, the item will be in stores at the clearance price. rarely will it be online.
If you want the Perceptor/Blaster set, get it now at 25% off. That's $75 before taxes. You're not going to get it at a better price anywhere. I bought it on TFSource.com when it first came out for $120 and it sold out fast. Don't know if they ever got it back in stock.
genera rule, when it is a limited edition, buy it when you can. Sometimes you can wait and it will go on clearance, or a good sale, but there's no way to be sure.

This right here deserves a quoting. Definitely gonna be the time to strike on the Blaster/Perceptor set for me!Black Bumblebee wrote:Very nice--remember, Target has the Platinum editions of the seeker jets and the Blaster / Perceptor set. 25% off of those would be a nice discount indeed!
Don't forget to start checking Cartwheel app, 50% off one toy (a randomly selected one by Target, not anything you desire) each day from today through Christmas Eve, though I don't see anything on there for today yet. I think the AOE Leaders were a deal one day on there last year.

I think you should have gone for it. Unlike the Leader Seekers, a lot of love went into Magnus. Sure, takara was given a ton of restrictions but you can see how smart they were to work around them and give what I believeto be a very satisfying product.

Yeah, well I wanted to like them, but I got two of 'em and both of their legs' internal mechanisms snapped, leaving them stuck mid-rotation and unable to go into either configuration, so yeah, screw 'em

Heh, well, I haven't; I'm sure I'll always look back and think: 'wow, way to lose a fan's favor over a dumb lump of garbage - that they wanted to like - hasbro'
And, yeah, they do seem nice, and if it weren't for the rampant 'monkey-arms' I would've gotten more of them

I'd encourage fans of those molds to jump on that. Very, very nice looking set. Excellent use of chrome, many of them have chrome with a black wash over it to look like weathered armor. Really evokes the knight-like aspect of the designs well.carytheone wrote:BBTS has the Platinum Dinobots on a one day sale for $79.99.

Would you recomend this set over the new platinum dinobots with the new heads? I like these molds but I dont want that many of them and I dont own the sdcc set. Seems to be a common theme where very good ratchet joints are used where they really aren't needed and softer joints used where there should be harder joints. Makes you wonder sometimes

I was waiting on this set to go on sale for a while (I think it was either HTS or TRU last time). The G1 flavored heads/deco has made me hesitate on these though. Usually my hemming and hawing saves my pocket book some pain in the short term.
That G1 set doesn't seem to be well received, so patience may pay off on that set.

Dinobots Unleashed set (the one on sale): with the exception of Grimlock, closest thing Hasbro released to screen accurate AoE Dinobots. Also just generally pretty and smoky and black which is a plus aesthetically for some. Includes Scorn, which is a really good mold.
Dinobots set ('upcoming' Platinum Edition set): A stop gap release that everyone will sell off when actual Classics styled Dinobots get made some day years from now. Includes Snarl, which is also a really good mold, but not the same as Scorn.
In short: the included molds are known quantities. If you want nice Dinobots for your Age of Extinction collection, black-ish "Dinobots Unleashed" set is the way to go. If you want Classics Dinobot filler, the other set is.

At least, that's what I'm going with. I don't need a Grimlock that's blacker than night itself and straight up evil-looking.
I mean, I look at this and I see more dirty gunmetal silver than obvious black:
And the Black Knight Leader has the closest deco to this:
