Target.com has a new listing for the new Target exclusive Predacons Rising 2-pack Shockwave and Bombshock which are repaints of Beast Hunters Commander Class Shockwave and Hardshell. Although the toys are not available yet, this listing includes new images of the toys in bot mode, alt mode and a nice in-package shot. The package in this image has the names reversed but looks like that has been fixed via stickers in the final retail version. Check them out below.

Haven't yet bothered with Cyberverse Shockwave in anticipation of this set, and I'm still looking forward to it, though that lovely pink on BombShockwave is somehow so evocative of Action-Master orange as to make me further regret not picking up that version of him back in the day. I loved AMs at the time, but can't ever work up the enthusiasm to pay secondary market prices for them now.
Can't recall the earlier pics of the Insecticon. Is this deco trying for Prime Waspinator?

Shockwave's cannon looks weird with a pink tip.
Too bad Bombshock isn't terribly different from Hardshell, color-wise. He's basically more saturated version.

Yeah, it would've made more sense to go darker instead of lighter, since the Insecticons tended to be in such dimly lit areas for the majority of their appearances that it's easy to forget they even had as much coloration as the Vehicons.Noideaforaname wrote:Too bad Bombshock isn't terribly different from Hardshell, color-wise. And the Insecticon going a lighter green? Is someone asleep on the job??? Fine, let's NEVER do a proper BLACK insecticon, I'll accept that. But why not go nutz and do a hot-orange or RED insecticon? That would, at the very least, be eye-catching and fun. Unless the rest of you are ready to cry, "Preschool colors!"
My thoughts are that bright, vivid colors go well on certain natural predators. Instead, this Insecticon looks like a lame vine snake. Just... wrong... colors...

Still, it'd be nice to have a darker tone. Maybe another release of the Cyberverse commander as a store exclusive?
Hasbro's obviously not done with the Beast Hunters IP yet with the forthcoming "simplified deluxes" so we might get another release of this mold.

I gave some deluxes to my boy and he threw the toys down in frustration from them being too difficult to transform quickly enough.
Hasbro is right by making the transformations easier.
Kids want to transform the stuff quickly and easily while playing. I know I did. and I know my boy does at least

There are Cyberverse Commander-sized, not Deluxe.

But Henry921 brought the enlarged legion guys up, so he went off on a relevant tangent. For all the understandable disdain the up-sizing plan got when it was announced, I have to agree because there are a few Prime guys I still need to break out the instructions for out of fear of breaking something, so I can imagine how frustrated a 6-year old would feel.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:jamarmiller wrote:I think making the deluxes transformations more simple is definitely a plus. IDR which Commanders are actually getting Voyager-sized, but Hardshell should be first and foremost, so I too hope Hasbro's far from done with this mold. Its transformation's intricate enough, Voyager would be about the right size for show accuracy, and even if army-building is far more for collectors than kids, Voyager Insecticons would surely move faster than all of Skyquake's case-mates.

In my area the Beast Hunters Deluxes have just been released, skipping to all the way to Wave 3 no less. Shockwave is part of Beast Hunters, so he will be released, eventually... I hope...

Yea, I spotted those deluxes too in the local ToysXL.
I got luck though. In France I bought Cyberverse Hun-Gurrr and Twinstrike (which had been released there waaay before they came to the Netherlands) and in that local ToysXL I've found the other three of the Abominus set.

Sweet! Or rather, now I really have to decide between regular Abominus, or the Predacon Rising one with the yummy clear plastic that's out in the UK.

Did you try the Rescue Bots line? Easy transformations, big and bright, sturdy and capable of withstanding more abuse.
The problem with "simplified deluxes" is that they're cheaper to make and will cost the same as regular deluxes. I'm not convinced it's as simple as "kids want simpler transformers", but rather more along the lines of, "we can make these toys even more CHEAPLY if we just simplify and reduce on manufacturing/building costs!" If you don't believe me, take a look at the most recent Hasbro releases: the new 3.75 inch Hulk (in the Avengers line) has slightly carved out feet (grab the toy in the aisle and flip over the packaging). The carved out feet are barely cut out... but obviously, even the tiniest bit of less plastic-per-figure is financially prudent enough for Hasbro to look into.
To put it simply: yes, your toys will be simpler to transform, but they'll also be cheaper builds, less material, and coming soon: less paint apps.

I sincerely doubt we will EVER see a larger Insecticon. I mean, don't count on it. Not to be TOO cynical, but Hasbro is NOT in the habit of listening to those types of requests, and I'm sure it didn't escape even their notice that people might want a larger Insecticon, when they chose to release the Cyberverse one.
Most likely, we'll be seeing a decline in Deluxes/Voyagers (over time), not an increase. From the time frame left between Prime and TF4, I doubt we'll see more than the handful of simplified deluxes already shown. Maybe the cheaper TFs just sell better? And thus far, it seems Hasbro is altogether hesitant to release any form of "troop-builder" set, save for the rare Marvel 3-packs. I think a lot of us would be interested in troop-builder sets, but I guess we don't spend quite enough on the brand to really grab Hasbro's attention and get them on such a project.

jamarmiller wrote:Yeah, my boy isnt interested in Rescue bots, and nor would I be if I was a little boy. G1 wasn't kidified , kids know Rescue bots is aimed at little kids.
To be fair, Rescue Bots is insultingly stupid. Have you watched the show? The main villain is interpersonal communications and thunder storms/accidents. They removed the Decepticons, they removed weapons, they turned the lion into a pussy cat. Aimed at kids? I don't like my 2 year old watching propaganda crap like that about getting along and accepting others. Jeez. Remember when G1 would incorporate those values without hitting us over the head with them?
But crappy show aside, the Rescue Bot toys are instant transformations and pretty nice. Well, the copter actually sucks, but I like the Bulldozer a lot. But for your 6 yr old, I can see that the lack of poseability might make them lame. Like I said, my kid is 2, so they work for me!
OH! Try Power Rangers!!!! I just got some of the Zords (Great Gosei Zord, for example, $30) and they are FANTASTIC. In Japan, Bandai is the bigger brand (compared to Takara), so it's not crazy to look to them for more choices. The Power Ranger robots may not be super poseable, but they are COMBINERS and the newest ones on shelves can switch up parts between sets, so that you can make any combination you like. It's a really cool idea. Check them out, if you want an easy transformer with creativity involved (I tell my wife they're like simplified Lego's).

And no, just no, never ever going to let POWER Rangers in my house, NEVER LOL

jamarmiller wrote:My boy enjoyed rescue bots when he was 2, he loved it infact. and I actually enjoyed watching it with him, but now that isnt 2 anymore, he doesnt want the toys, he likes the show still but does not find the toys interesting to him like the other regular stuff.

Whoa... k. Just the opposite. I couldn't stand the show, and my kid could care less (at 2, he prefers CG shows and shows with songs - i.e. Jimmy Neutron or Phineas & Ferb).
Power Rangers is a great show. You should give it a try. The toys themselves are pretty fun, too.
But I won't go on and on about that - it's all on how much you like combiners. Currently, how many Hasbro combiners out there? Personally, I'm not starting on Kreo's, so I don't count them. If you're ambivalent about combiners, you won't miss much by skipping on the Rangers. But if you're like me, you could be missing out by not giving them a shot...

All the G1 combiners ( US and JAPAN ) including the recently released Predaking from Amazon , Power Core combiners, RID combiners, ect.
Hes only received a few so far, but I have enough combiners for him to last years LOL.
I live in japan and Power ranger stuff and the like is easy for me to get, but there is no way . I hate Power rangers with a passion. LOL

Japan, aye? Lucky sob! For one, the Power Rangers over there are actually high-quality combiners rivaling the best TFs... For another, Japan is awesome. Arrrghhh.
Anyway, I was going to suggest the cheap Piranacon... but I guess you're set. Let me just say... lucky kid you have!
I plan on taking my kid for a Japan visit at least... some time in the future...

I do like the new paint job for Bombshock, though, as it fits in better with the BH line.

Thanks for the update but... in for disappointment? I think most of the final figures look particularly bad as compared to pre-production model shots. I mean, the figures look AMAZING on these test shots, but then when I get to the store, they look like cheap crap.
Kind of how you can never get that delicious picture of a hamburger you see at any fast food joint. The irony, of course, being that toys are made out of plastic, not wilting lettuce or delicate bread buns.
