Uhhh...yeah.....no. Movie decals don't look good on a Prime fig.

Also, looks nothing like Barricade from the Prime universe.

And you know there's no way the production version will have that purple color. I don't think Hasbro is even capable of producing that shade of purple.

And here I thought megaplex was just a fluke in regards to the club using recently released figures.

Also any one notice the smirk, I don't think the original head sculpt head that. Heres hoping thats just the mock up

While he is cool, it isn't close enough to his official character model to justify the cost. He'd be bought if this were retail. But a TSS figure? No way. It's a shame as I'm usually a sucker for this stuff, but next years figures aren't looking good.

Yesh, Prowl has barely been released and he already has a planned redeco.

And guys, give the fiction and his backstory the benefit of the doubt. We don't know if he actually is Prime Barricade, or another Barricade that has a Prime-styled body. And how many of you have re-purposed Slipstream as G1, despite her possibly not hailing from that continuity? ;)

Also, some features of the model do match up: the legs, the hips and the chest. The rest, not so much.

They phoned in another overpriced repaint - oh joy.

Slap a familiar name on an already overused mold and charge triple retail. These sub figures are an insult.

Probably because they can't just throw a new head and a light bar on top of the Vehcion mold. >:oP

Honestly, I absolutely adore this guy.

Well they did that as an Auto Assembly figure this year using PRID Vehicon to form a Barricade.

Look good too.

Well When they reveal Rewind you may be a bit happier.

I could definitely see them doing that though from the Reveal the Shield "Demolition" Rumble mold. But that's just me.

Am I seriously the only person on Seibertron that actually loves the crap out of this Barricade?

I dont need this at all. Honestly, if I had any intention of bringing Barricade as a character on my classics shelf, I would just go with the movie toy. I think some of the Prime and Animated molds have potential for classics, but not with those cartoony big jawed heads. I dont see why they cant just put serious looking classics styled heads on the bodies of those molds ?

By the time it comes out, it won't be a "recently released" figure anymore. Prowl's out this year, this comes out next year.

And this is likely just a digital mock up and not a photo of an actual toy. ;)

True but we'd normally be getting these mock ups that year, not this one. you have to admit it's a little odd to see theses club mock ups so soon after a figure's release.

I like him quite a bit. I wasn't expecting Barricade from Prime Prowl, but seeing him now, it works quite well. So what if it's not a perfect translation of his character model? Nothing from Prime has been 100% screen or model accurate, not even the best of the First Edition molds. He's got enough resemblence in enough places to represent the character. Plus, if he's not a Prime version of the character, and instead represents a completely different iteration (TFCC Timelines, Animated, etc.) the point is moot. At least they didn't try to repaint Barricade with Knock Out, as Takara originally tried with Smokescreen. ;)

How come? If it's out now and won't be released by the Club until many many months later, reaching into the following year, isn't just another case of the Club waiting till the next calendar year to use a mold from the previous calendar year.

Right i know it will be out next year. The thing is for me, when the club uses relatively newer figures, mockups using that new figure don't normally don't come out around the same time as the base figure's sited at retail. It just feels odd that it's so soon. It wouldn't have felt odd to me, if these pictures came out say around the winter months.

The arm kibble on this mold is too much to bear. As soon as I got BH Smokescreen in hand, I had to sell him.

It's a pity, too, since his profile is so slim, you'd think they would have been able to push some of it to his back.

I know the point has been discussed thoroughly in the past, but the mock-up brings those feelings back. Oy.

#1: This one doesn't completely remove the issue, and there's more partsforming, but it's actually a surprsingly dramatic difference. http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/beast-hunters-smokescreen-mod-t93587s300.php

Disclaimer: I haven't tried any of these!

#2: It involves some partsforming, but if that doesn't bother you, go for it. The end result is quite nice. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/821161-beast-hunters-smokescreen-arm-kibble-mod.html

#3: A modification of the previous example, which involves no partsforming (well, less partsforming), and instead utilizes the fact that you just made a sort of 3mm clip after snipping the arm kibble off. It slides on easily (allegedly) to the bottom of Smokescreen's door wing. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/821161-beast-hunters-smokescreen-arm-kibble-mod-9.html#post9180078

I'm sure there are others as well, if you poked around a bit, but those are the few I've looked at in the past that I was able to find again.

As much as I like most of Movie Barricade's design, I don't think it translated well to his toys. He's one of those Movie Decepticons whose head design I just can't quite like, particularly because I don't think any of the toys got it right. Plus they all seem to have weird proportion issues, specifically in the utter lack of an abdomen. Feel free to prove me wrong, I'd be happier for it, but I just can't quite like any of them.

Vehicle mode is boss, but I think the purple is far too prominent in robot mode. I may pick this guy up but skip Prowl.

I'll toss this one into the "negative" column. That makes two positives (Ironfist and Treadshot) vs two negatives (Barricade and Chromedome).

Unless the next two figures are positives, I'm going to pass on the TFSS and just get them through resellers.

Me likey. Yeah, I woulda preferred something based on the Vehicon version, the vehicle mose is more BArricade-y to me, but that was an unoffical convention, and like was said, this one already has the light bar. Not sold on the noggin, but I don't like Prowl's either. And I refuse to call Prowl Prowl, Clampdown, maybe.

Sodan-1 wrote:Vehicle mode is boss, but I think the purple is far too prominent in robot mode. I may pick this guy up but skip Prowl.

Or this

Someone commented on the shade of purple, it looks like FoC Kickback purple to me... Although Vehicon Purple would work for me.

WTF? It's a repaint with a new head, of course it won't look exactly like the damn original design.

And by the way, for it being a repaint, he looks damn close to the actual design, they just need to give him a better head (unlikely) and reduce some of the purple.

I hate to admit it because I do not agree with the existence of the TCC in its current form, but this figure is kinda cool. It represents Barricade from the alighned continuity well being his earth based mode. I might join the club again just to get this one.

Movie Barricade is cool, especially the Human Alliance version, but its design is fully rooted in the Movie-verse. If you want a Barricade that can fit into a more Classics-verse oriented display, this is a better fit.

Barricade is one of my favorites and his Prime/MMO style I have wanted a figure of very much. This one is not quite there, but pretty close. Bad part is I can't afford the sub + Barricade or Chromedome which are 2 of my top Transformer wants.

The 'Prime' aesthetic is often considered (in a simplified way) to be some combination of Animated and Movieverse aesthetics, so it makes sense that you would say that.

I just wish he had a better head. I got more of a lockdown vibe from the character profile artwork, but the smirk doesn't do it for me.

I do, however, like the vehicle mode. And honestly, I think the robot mode fits the above mentioned art fine. But the head...

Now now, someone mentioned using the PRID vehicon for the character. With the Reprolabels for movie-Barricade, that might not be too much of a stretch.

I think it looks great. Pretty close to the source as well. I would have preferred a new head that resembled the concept more closely but I'm sure someone will come out of the woodwork and make it happen. My only complaint, I was trying to talk myself into selling off my Prime figures. I mean, I am happy that the club explores the different facets of the fiction and fleshes out where they can. A little bummed that such an expensive figure/service is getting me a figure/mold from a line I wasn't keen on continuing buying. Still, pretty slick looking figure. I am hopeful for the rest too.
