There have been worse Macguffins to speak of. Every EI/AD in the G1 cartoon for instance. Mini-Cons tended to last longer than one episode and served a grander purpose in the greater scheme of the cartoon (Powering the Hyrda Cannon, and forming the Unicron of Light for instance).
