So, we have a Necro Titan AKA Titan of the undead, in the form of a long extinct/dead giant lizard that devours people whole, probably to harvest their brains. Zombies. Dinosaurs. Evil.
I reiterate: This figure may actually be perfect

Nah, Trypticon may be a destroyer of worlds, but Unicron he ain't

I started collecting after Metroplex was available, but I do recall Devestator and FM available at discounted prices. Kicked myself for getting both at full price. I really don't know if I should preorder Trypticon or hope it goes on sale first.

Yup, definitely regret it! I feel like the anticipation for Trypticon is a lot higher than for FM, so I'm afraid it'll be harder to get. I think I know the answer, but what will you be doing WJ, prordering or hunting for a deal?

That twintwist is on and either ginrai g2 laser prime or nemesis prime up there on the shelf with the box plus a sixshot redeco and the clones or at least thats what I think the backround toys are the images are kinda blurry . p.s no paint on full tilt (or at least I think that's what I think his little purple friend goes by ) I know the g1 guy was unpainted but still
If you go over HERE we have been discussing the other figures surrounding Trypticon. you may need to go back a page or 2 but that's where the talk is!

Actually the headmaster is supposed to be wipe-out as seen in the sketches of trypticon just an awesome little homage hasbro did

That would be the only point of dis-appointment. I was also hoping for him to be at least as tall as Metroplex. Hopefully tomorrow's images will make it clearer...

Considering how skinny Metroplex is and how boxy Trypticon is, we all expected him to be shorter. He's simply significantly much more bulkier

Real question is how will Hasbro screw this beautiful beast up for SDCC? I imagine all that purple will be chromed. I wonder if they'd include Brunt?
That aside, anyone else a little more excited about Octane now? Can't just be me that wants to stick these two together.

william-james88 wrote:I know we are all having fun with Trypitcon being revealed, it is awesome, but I had a question about a distinction made earlier, or if there even is one. I was very confused with people calling Trypitcon a triple changer since I never really saw the base mode as being all that distinct from the battlemode. I was wrong about many things of course and I dont mind, but now I am curious. Hellscream made a smart statement saying he had a robot mode (the kaiju), an alt mode (the base) and a battle mode. And I can see that. But does that mean we dont really consider the battle mode as a second alt mode? You know like how Astrotrain has 2 alt modes and even how Titans Return Rewind has two alt modes, each with very distinctive parts (treads and a cannon turret for tank mode, screen and buttons for datapad mode). Do we see that as different from toys that have 3 modes but where one mode is just a mishmash of the other two? Like the gerwalk mode that Gen Whirl has. Its a third mode, sure, but is it a second alt mode? I dont see it as on the same footing as those called triple changers. Same with those Beast Wars toys like BBoom and Long Rack which have battle modes, or the Transmetal toys that all have a more "vehicle mode". Its just the alt mode rearranged a bit but not really another alt mode. At least thats how I see it. And thats how I see Trypticon here (and fort max, bothe TR and G1), not sure if I am the only one.
The difference between "mode" and "alternate mode" (aka Vehicle, Beast, Weapon etc.) isn't really clear-cut, is it? I guess the best thing to do is look at the function each form provides, as well as dedicated parts used. In the case of Trypticon, he has his primary mode, the "Dinosaur", and his main alternate mode, the "City" or "Base". The third mode is basically a more mobile configuration of the alternate mode with extra weapons attached, I guess for some it counts as a true alternate mode.

I didn't really like Fort Max's alt modes as much as I had liked Generations Metroplex. I don't care for the most of the leader class Titans base modes (Soundwave and Blaster are decent, but I detest Optimus), and I wasn't expecting an interesting carrier or base mode for Trypticon, but these images actually impressed me. I leave 99% of my figures in robot mode to display them, but these alt modes are interesting enough to make me consider putting him on a shelf in carrier mode. Well done, Hasbro!

Thats cool, I didnt notice that but yeah, especially with that orange clear plastic at the baseof the tail replicating his eyes.
Sorry this is from several pages ago with the awesome news, but I wanted to configm that WJ88 read me right. I was thinking that the tail of Trypticon, which becomes the "snout" of the spaceship (pun intended here... ) generally looks like Trypt's head. I see his actual head at the back of the spaceship, but the tail ends up looking a bit like Trypticon's head because of those orange translucent pieces looking like his eyes. I just thought it was cool to point out.

So my initial reaction was one of "meh" ... he looked like an up-scaled G1 figure.
Which to be perfectly honest, he still is, even his base mode isn't much different.
But then they added the spaceship mode. Which I thought, "hey, nice touch". And then I got to thinking, as a collector, I'm not likely to be changing him into his various modes very often. So really, he's just a really big monster thingy. He's still going to look good if I can find a spot for him, but still, he's just up-scaled ...
OH! They've made Full Tilt a Titan Master? Well ... yay>
hmmm ... this seems lazy.
Then they added "can eat Titan Masters". And that, that is a cool feature (over looking the fact that his arms are too short and if he bends down he'll probably topple over) and it gave me a good giggle. Here we have this giant toy, that can literally eat other toys. Finally, something original.
So while I am mostly not overly enthused ... I will be getting him, simply so I can feed him Titan Masters and have a really big monster looking thing sitting menacingly in my lounge room.

The original had that too, both toy and animation model. Always thought it was a nice touch.
I will admit his ship mode is a nice touch and looks good.
