The two antennas are unusually long, 2 Autobots logos are visible at the shoulders.
Double chest windows, "6 abdominal muscles", openable knee cap, calf exhaust grid, all are the standard features of Optimus Prime but yet so impressive.
Vehicle Mode: ★ ★ ★
Compared to the gorgeous detail of the robot mode, the vehicle mode is considered simple in design. The vehicle is with aerodynamics styling, however there is no front cab windows. Probably Prime doesn't need to be in disguised during the War of Cybertron. Huge front wheels compared to the rear wheels, coupled with the reinforced front bumper and the huge exhaust pipes behind, the vehicle does give a tough look.
Articulation: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Overall articulation is essentially a modified version of the classic OP, with additional parts for the wrist and feet. The only difference is lack of waist movement due to the size.
Difficulty of Transformation: ★ ★ ★ ★
Deluxe class figure, Voyager class difficulty in transformation. The transformation required the upper body to be rotated 360-degree, it is quite challenging in the transformation.
Material Color: ★ ★ ★
Toy overall color scheme is very uniform: red / blue / gray / black
Some metallic feel in the red color parts, and the blue section is the same as Classic Optimus Prime. The gray parts are basically the plastic colors (Are we getting a Premium version from Takara?). The overall feel is very solid.

Except if you look closely to his face you can see the blue coming out through the grey mouthplate and there is some grey painted on the right above where his eyebrow would have been.

thankfully he is packaged in robot mode so we can check the paint apps before buying!
Shame there is no battle axe though.

People keep pointing this out, but I see it differently. If you look at his Robot mode, he unquestionably has the twin-window "pecs" that most Optimus Primes (obvious exception: Armada) have as a signature look. When in vehicle mode, those same windows appear to be present, however they are recessed into the front armour and are not as visible. So, while they wouldn't be terribly functional, IMHO, they are still there.
And as someone pointed out in another thread, the "purpose" of such windows/cockpits in Cybertronian vehicles is likely their vehicle-mode optic sensors...

Also, the chest mimics the g1, g2,... chest but it's supposed to be just metal, not windows

Did you mean 180 degrees? Because a 360-degree turn would just have the torso in the same position it was to begin with. Granted, you might have actually meant 360 degrees and that might be the case, but I don't know since I don't have the figure to compare with myself.

Is it me or does this guy have a very "anime" "real robot" look about him?

Also, why can I never get my bots into poses that look as cool as the promo pics!! They generally look like they have had some sort of fit.

I feel a great pain in my soul about that. They got the transforming gun, which is great, but it would have been so sweet to have the axe as well. Especially since I can see that becoming my favorite weapon in the game. There's nothing I love more than getting up close to an mf-er and cleaving him in twain. Man I can't wait to get this game and this Prime.

I'm feeling a third party weapons set down the line to heal your pain.

That would actually be acceptable, as long as it includes more than his axe. what may be interesting would be finding a way to create the weapons that merge with his arms similar to in the game itself.

Something about the bot mode was striking me along those lines...then it hit me: am I the only one or does this robot mode have a distinctly Armored Core feel to it? Change the head and it could seriously pass for the robot vehicles used in that series of games.

Leaning further and further towards getting him, regardless. Either way, my wallet would be happy to know that it's an affordable deluxe toy.

I actually think the bot mode is way better than the Alternity. The shoulders are so much tougher looking than the car doors/wings. I think this bot bot is just about as tough as it gets, and I am getting very excited about this new OP.

I'm getting a steampunk vibe from his alt mode, anybody else?
EDIT- reminds me of the Captain Nemo-mobile from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which oddly enough had a woman as a member- and what a woman, rrRRROW!).

Just remember to be careful with the arms and shoulder transformation. Moving the shoulders forward until they click into place can break an interior piece. The arms are sort of a pain to get right too. Mine were unreasonably tight. So much, I feared I was really going to break it.

Ok, fine. I'll collect this set of figures too...

Oh, I agree on that, I simply meant the quality of plastic is so good, it looks like it's painted like the Alternity one.

Hmm... that's quite true, he does... but I still can't deal with the rabbit-ears on his helmet. If only his alt-mode was a Land Raider!
